At home i use a small camping table and a 51'' tv monitor [for focusing] then i put the video into a 2.4ghz transmitter [parallel with the DVR] and use a 2'' portable receiver [aiming] -great !

IR lighting requires lots of experience to make it work, thats why so many people and manufactures have problems. [whiteouts etc] For starters you need the right camera and there are only a few that have on-board IR that work well. Just to do a driveway area you might need 4 IR floods and a $1000 camera this is to get the right contrast at a distance and up close for a face shot. but it will be in black and white. [and IR makes people look funny] Sometimes it better and cheaper to use a $300 camera [no IR] and PIR floodlights ! why.. because you get the perp in color ! Over the years I have run both covert IR and .1lux type color cams and I always go back to color and flood lights. Just on that note It seems 750Nm is better than 900Nm IR [psychologically] because the crims get a shock when they walk all the way down a driveway and then see a dull red glow staring at them. then most are stupid and dont notice. I have had a crim look at my car at night with a torch and then the floods turn on -he just turned his torch off -F#$#ker ! . my 2c

I would be walking away if they dont want to do it right ? 60%??? hits something is wrong...... Sounds like they need normal cams zoomed in then they could afford 3 ! z

Remote viewing a DVR without a router???
zmxtech replied to blkpookie's topic in Computers/Networking
You only need 1 router -It may have switchports 4 or so you can use them or by a switch say 4or 8 port -crossover lead If you use one z -
I use those sanyo`s there great but too big so I make custom AG pipe enclosures for them and spray them black, I also have another 90% hidden inside a brick wall with just a plastic cover under a light fitting so it blends in. Also decorative lattice is good to hide a cam if its not too exposed. my 2c z

I`ll sell you a 800 line super-giga mega HAD sony for $99 oh its got a 900x digital zoom..... the lies will stop once more megapixel cams get out there most people understand this... z

I know some people here who only deal in extreme -whoh they are in trouble now !

don't worry easy to fix, this stems from over zealous sales "1mega watt" IR range 50 foot " etc etc too bad if your 5 foot away ! The guys are correct you have too much IR light, to test the theory use some black tape etc and block off 90% of the LEDs this will reduce the IR down to a nice contrast. One of my test cams an `Ebay special` works well if you block off the IR LEDs all bar 2! Also you can move your IR blaster 10 more metres away z

IP camera axis 207 or HLC-83MW
zmxtech posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi folks, Im looking at two cams the axis 207w and the HLC-83MW both similar ? I know the 207 is no good at night without a lens change, comments ? ta z -
good idea but flawed unless you have very fancy circuit breakers. All the bad guys have to do is cut 1 camera, the cutters will short out the system and your PC and camera will have a re-boot z
-
Sorry to "see" your system sucks.... this is where I make my money when amateurs/alarm guys/plumbers install rubbish for $99.99 with steak knives.... you can fix it by upgrading you cameras and as the other guys say putting them in the right places z

How to make people slow down / stop for my license plate cam
zmxtech replied to Scruit's topic in System Design
you might need more light -ie IR illumination that will bring the plate out z -

why ip cameras needs optic fiber for long distance?
zmxtech replied to youngbb's topic in System Design
In the networking world GBit and 100Mb fibres run from building to building, floor to floor and long runs over 100m or so -its normal network stuff. z -
ex82's IR beam is very strong but its a grid of LEDs spaced out to give a nice spread. , all other IR cams job also is to spread the beam not focus it -tho they can get warm if your close oh yes it will bounce if its the right color - IR can be strange most LASERS need at least 100mw of power finely collimated to burn anything just got a 100 and 400mW for testing. All the IR LEDs I have seen spread the beam out so no burn ! but you should not stare into it of course thats just silly. I treat them like a LASER and keep at least a few meters away just incase.... my 2c z

ahh good to hear you busted the sucker, sorry missed the covert need... good luck with the police -every time I have given them a picture of a crim I think they go for donuts instead... z

$1500 where did your boss pull that from ? that would just cover a DVR here...[oz] your parking lot should have a wide angle D-N cam and maybe a numberplate cam or one down low grabbing plates/drivers -went to thailand last week all the parking lots have them 1.5m off the ground ! -really in your face ..... if you dont look out your car mirror will hit them -that close.... -but it does the job. -those stair shots are 80% `walls` put a 12mm lens or so and tighten up the shot [you should get a nice pic of just the door and 1m around it] -might be an idea to have 1 D-N cam inside in case of a break in. -gotta have a choke point near the front door -cam there grabbing heads... my 2c
-
another idea > domes mounted flush with a small cover on-top to stop direct rain and ropes [with each one crossing views] -separate IR illumination. But the idea of a cam 50+m away zoomed in that always works! or... a fake "junction box" cam nearby.... z
-
fiber optic`s converters will protect the video from the poles to the DVRs using UPS`s and separate supplies etc.. z
-
just add a micro switch inside, use the DVR`s trigger with a PIR or a microwave pointed at the machine. [floor mat switch would work too] z
