Day/Night Outdoor camera recommendations anybody please?
zmxtech replied to swampguinnie's topic in Security Cameras
thats a shocker of a picture, I would be looking at an IP camera with a cut filter. Yellow Sodium lights ? yuk ! An overview camera and one zoomed into your choke point/cars for ID`s would be a start z -
Good CCTV Software to record from internet
zmxtech replied to Beachboy223's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
you better have a real fast low latency connection, and be prepared for a shocker of a bill ! Thats why the AXIS [Q1755] & mobotix cams are good they can run as mini DVR's and you can log in if needed. [you dont need a HS connection then] z -

IR Lighting for closeup with miniature camera
zmxtech replied to FarmerCharlie's topic in Security Cameras
using IR arrays from security cams would be way to harsh, What you need to do is select the right low light cams that are IR sensitive. [minitron are good] As for the IR lighting there nothing that low power and wide angle. Easy to fix tho, Option 1 For your Enclosure would only need say 4/8 LEDs in series connected to a 6/12v power supply. buy the widest angle 3mm versions -have to select low power LED's Option 2 Build a PWM circuit to control the LEDs -then you can Dim them to suit. Option 3 Buy a 'dimmable' PWM block and 1w luxeon with no optics -easy solution For dispersing the light use an old fluorescent light diffuser and chop it to suit -might only be 1x1'' in size z -
well done, Have done the same decoy cams and pin-holes covering the area I even put a fake loop of wire for them to "cut" z

Cannot Focus any image for my Geovision IP Megapixel Camera

with the picture, is it all messed up or is there NO picture ? -
actually I have noticed the cheap IR units cheat by being at least ~100nm off freq @ ~750nm not ~850 so they appear to work better, the down side is they can be seen quite easily. [can be a good thing tho] The other problem is MTBF the cheapies just don't last. but.....you can get lucky. Oh and they generate lots of heat compard to a RAYMAX\litestorm so this attracts tons more bug life -just being picky...

cheap IR give cheap results dude ......

hi, I would be using IP`s with Vandal resistant housings
-
I just quoted a 16 cam hi res IP system, they knocked it back and said we can get 32 analogs for the same price ... aghh! The same people who complained about their blurry pictures to me. i`ll have my 16 Porches they can have their 32 volkswagons ! shyte.....

the server should be the only device grabbing the time [NTP] from the outside, the cam's should get the time from the server. my 2c
-
how do you know there are pin hole cams there ? do you have a optical detector.?
-
You can "take out" most CCTV systems just by shorting the supply ! I fuse each camera If I can. this way faults, vandals dont effect the whole system. I even measure the day/night current, Infrared can overload the Power Supply when illuminators turn on this can blow a whole system PS if you forget about it. [And dont design it properly] Its quite normal when using IR the system current can be 1A daytime and 5A at night ! [some IR bullets can go from 300mA to 1A at night] I`ll stop babbling now....

IM gunna use a 1/3'' lens on a 1/3'' camera ....call me crazy......

dude.... unless you live in space Insects are the number one problem for integrated IR cams. As is their poor IR power control -or lack of it. Damm those space insects ! -
I think 1/2'' lenses tend to be higher end so the F might be lower giving the impression on a 1/3 cam they work better which they might slightly. The focus point is still cropped\masked on a 1/3'' The difference would only be small when using the lens at night, I don't think you could tell during the day. Its all moot anyway use the correct lens !
