You would have to encrypt "from the camera" to the DVR etc A firewall might stop freaks getting in tho. Its quite easy to grap the RX or TX of a CAT5 cable and sniff it. To change it you would have to break the data stream which would kill off the link but there are ways around that also. There is some test equip that will clip over a cable to sniff ! m

Just ordered a Basler BIP-1300DN with images
zmxtech replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
dont think much of the basler a bit funky & splotchy.... the KT&C is shyte. Looks like the other Axis has way to much compression running. Areconts the winner. EX82 Nice......there is an IP version I hear... -
You can still use a dome, just replace then lens with a 12mm or so lens. z

MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
zmxtech replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have not fine tuned the system yet these are just rough tests. The IR lights are on the wrong angle as is the camera. -still playing with settings. In a proper situiation where the lighting and vehicle movements are controlled like a gate I think it will be good. z -

AXIS Q1755 setup problem
zmxtech replied to zmxtech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would post images but my settings say html ON but .... -i`ll put them on my site when I get my shiney new IR LASER system The Raymax 50 and EX12 dont have enough grunt to make it perfect.... The road is roughly 30m away. Anyway the Axis Q1755 is a amazing unit 2mp 10x optical & IR cut Filter. During the day I have the shutter set at 1000 enough to grab cars at 0-100kph and the occasional bird flying at 100+ Im still fine tuning the settings for night, it will grab IR shots of people walking past but the cams on auto -really low shutter speed. no good to grab cars/licenses at night just yet. And the auto focus is hunting -tried manual helped a bit but need more IR. z -
that's all low resolution Analog stuff.... go IP ! a model with a IR cut filter for night and shutter control. A laptop will do the job, or mobile PC. Many of the good IP cams have a SD slot so you could put a 16GB card in there in FIFO mode -don't even need a DVR or PC. An Axis Q1755, Mobotix, IQeye all do it just some thoughts.....
-
take the camera's plastic dome cover off for a night a see if the fog is gone, Most of the cheap cams and even IR illuminators don't have variable IR power output, so many of them produce terrible shots -usually washed out. Hint: some of the IR bullets you can tape off a few LEDs till you get good contrast with the IR z

Noise, noise...please somebody help..
zmxtech replied to x-man's topic in General Digital Discussion
Im afraid your system is ****, that face is lucky to have 20 pixels across. Even smoothing and noise reduction did not help, I`ll attatch my attempts, z -
you need to get a CCTV guru in, might help if you tell people where you are? z

Arecont's at night and under IR illumination
zmxtech posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
greetings folks, Has anyone found much difference between the 1 thru to 5 mega pixel Arecont DN [iR cut filter] cameras at night including the 3130 ? Any model better than anther under IR illumination ? And what lenses are your favorites I have discounted the 3130 because of the lack of space to put a bigger lens z -

Arecont's at night and under IR illumination
zmxtech replied to zmxtech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
yes that's my point is it worth getting a DN version of the 1-2-3-5MP single lens units like a the AV5100-dn series. Is the IR and night performance the same or better etc ? -
Cheapest IP camera with motion triggering
zmxtech replied to todd2's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would have to say the Axis 206 or their new M series. they can FTP on motion detect and have a great picture. I think there might be a many Ebay/asian cheepy cams but what the point if it fails or the pictures crap ! -oh they they wont work with 3rd party software ! z -
Best switches for IP cameras
zmxtech replied to Michelangelo's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
big jobs cisco 3750ps bigger 6500 series Small TP-link TL-SF-1008p 8*ports total [4port POE] Some switches seem to crash after a while and need resetting so far these two have been fine [1 year and counting....] -
Im huge fan of MP cameras but a 16mp camera can only see so far, a RADAR controlled PTZ camera can zoom and track a car or subject miles away with thermal and or Video. Also it can do 360 around a perimeter. example: http://www.zmx.com.au/radar.htm

Analog > sony super HAD and Ex-waves [if you use infrared illumination also] followed by sanyo digital DN IR cut filter versions. I test these with a 5-50mm Bosch lens and a raymax model 50 sorts em out ! Im sure there are lots more, but its a fine line to get good illumination and frame rate with no blur. in the 250 to 1000 shutter range If you want no mucking around the extreme CCTV "bosch" cameras are excellent like the EX26 etc IP> Arecont DN & IR lenses IQeye my 2c [and hours of testing at night]

Panasonic WV-CW484 Dome vs Cheap LTC Dome w/ 36 IR LED's
zmxtech replied to alpine0000's topic in Security Cameras
the real test is to walk-run past both cameras at night and see which one can ID a face ! I bet you will need to crank the shutter up ! -
