  1. oh I found this sucker http://www.panavision.com/product_detail.php?maincat=6&cat=286&id=360&node=c0,c3 300x just what you need !
  2. the camera will need to be at least 1/2inch format and IR sensitive [&cut filter] that's the easy part... Arecont/iqeye etc 5miles [8km] that gunna be a sucker of a lens! and day-night mmmm you will need a LASER illuminator or one of the new fangled range gating cameras. You could save lots of money and just ask Paris if you can be at her pool party.... my calculations [Tamron] Object distance is 26246.72 ft or 8000 m. To cover a horizontal area of 16.4 ft/5 m and a vertical area of 12.3 ft/3.75 m, * For 1/3" cameras: a focal length of 7680 mm. * For 1/2" cameras: a focal length of 10240 mm. think you need a telescope, A 2200mm lens is the biggest I have seen with C mount [fuji C55x20D-ENSE11] And 360mm for a mega pixel lens but im sure there's something out there ! Also the Raymax [Konfoosing] it's so big its got a handle @2m ! http://www.raymax.co.jp/english/ these guys have some monster lenses and videos http://www.cctv-lens.com/monster.html Also there is post here somewhere using large canon lenses and Avigilon camera's seems to be a sweet combo going for coffee.....

    HD Sanyo Cameras

my supplier gave it good reviews and gave me a color glossy ! I have not tested it myself....yet
  4. the ACM-42xx with a cut filter will allow it to be used in more situations. At the moment most of the Actis are useless at night that's when the bad guys are around. Also the ACM-42xx series with its C mount lens option would make a great cam for a vast amount of lenses out there. Being able to use it with IR lighting also would be a huge bonus because the other models are 2-3 times the price.

    Camera Combiner/Interleaver?

yes you can do it, one version is called a quad does work most times, tho as you say motion detect mode will be no good. they are not expensive >ok for general overveiw only. you can even put a quad into a quad ! but the images will get small DVR cards are cheap these days !
  6. dont forget AXIS wireless Cams they are ok for small jobs
  7. how do you keep the dust off the lenes ? air- water etc?

    Axis solutions

I think you need to have demo`s of all the cameras at night time to get an idea what you want. And what works together. Axis are great cams but not the best for night. For your "night cams" look for IR cut filter specs. Most of the specs are BOGUS "slow shutter static images", great but not when the bad guys are running or speeding away. it will be a blur. 250 cams you need your own satellite and yes Raymax are the go for Quality & specs vs price I don't think h264 is great when Terra-bytes of space is cheap and Ive heard its not too flash encoding /recording night shots with noise.

    Geovision static/noise

looks like interference from another video source, also the lack of ground on composite video will do that.
  11. I just installed the Exacq suite but the client wont see the server. In XP services it wont start either ? mmmmmmm Will have another go later [with a scotch n coke] ps I must say I also hate stuffing about with MAC address for software ! It makes replacing cameras a pain also.
  12. for sure.....that was the M12 I had i gett confoosed
  13. would be real nice if Acti could squeeze an IR cut filter into a 4201 !
  14. I played with the settings sure there might be a few more tricks to it did not have a car to test driveby's dont get me wrong they are a fantsatic camers
  15. I had a play with one and I doubt it. it had motion blur even with IR ?
  16. All these Hi-res pics are nice but the real tests are: person walking past at night -face shot for ID? car driving past slow/fast -not a blur IR illumination -does it help ? IR cut filters etc Car diving in then backing out with headlights -can you get the plate ? fog and rain can it handle in motion detect mode. just to get things rolling....
  17. for sure! even a pinhole cam at face level built into a feature. 99% of all holdup pics have a baseball cap !

Need help with system re-design please!!

Yep... they want big bucks but at night it all falls in a heap. ps: that yard should have an overveiw camera and one close to the gate to get plates and ID`s
  19. 4. power adjustment 5. height 6. MTBF 7. Sensor match 8. Correct IR frequency 9.Price
  20. or a wireless IP camera and antenna but the modulator into the TV signal would be easy
  21. FYI Acti does come with free 16Ch DVR software, its not bad for free ! Im having trouble getting a 3401 to work at night tho with 100W spotlights the software takes forever to update when you change settings like the shutter etc... the PPT bombs out
  22. dont poo-poo the camera just yet ! till you you have adjusted the settings. I had one working in the Mobotix training with IR just by adjusting the shutter etc. and a day and night profile from memory. I know its not a DN camera but its not bad.
