Hi All, Can the Nubix, or any other base priced stand alone DVR work with IP forwarding software such as no-ip.com....... Don't have much experience with the standalones, but prefer to work with something where the client does not need to purchase a Static IP....If not, are you aware of any base standalone DVR's that can work with this..... Hi my name is Andrew and I just recently started installing CCTV.... I am installing next weekend, and wanted to know what suggestions you all had in terms of buying a wire tester (to check connections of BNC connectors and siamese) . Any brand names, and where should I buy from Also, the client has an old school time lapse VCR with multiplexor.... NO LOOP out. he wants to keep the original system, and split connection from cameras to the DVR.... The run from the splitter should be no more than 4 feet to both the multiplexor and DVR. will a T connector work... Any other low cost solutions, as he is cheap and does not want to pay for any pricy add on equiptment.... Thanks so much for your advise.

Hi guys I just quoted a job where I will be using (4) IR bullets to cover the back area of a shipping/recieveing dock. can anyone give me suggestions for installing the cameras, as the concrete wall is 12 inches thick, and does not allow me enough clearance to pull the video/power pigtails from the camera inside the dwelling. Is there a box or some sort of housing that I can mount the cameras on, and also put the excess wiring inside..... Any tips would be helpful.... Thanks.

Hi guys... need some equiptment help... Just finished a 16 channel deal for a client who has a boat in Aruba. He wants me to purchase equiptment so that he can see who is boarding his boat from the plasma installed on the boat..... no remote, no recording..... I deal mainly with digital, and could use the help in designing this.... The client will install this system. I purchased four outdoor IR cameras with BNC connectors.... What type of QUAD should I run this to, as he will be connecting it to his plasma.... Is there any other hardware needed outside of the power supplies? What type of video output do the quads typically have that would work with general video imputs on a CONSUMER plasma display... Thanks for the help.

Hi, has anyone used the brand CNB (korean company). Another installer in the DC area said that he used them for convienince stores, small business.... Any info would be appreciated. Also, looking for a decent quality 420 line color/IR camera.... Lookin for 150-200$ price range.... Any suggestions?

Greetings everyone, I wanted to introduce myself, as I am NEW to "installing" CCTV's. Thought I would introduce myself, as my postings here got off to a rocky start when I was barraded by a bipolar member of this forumn. My name is Andrew, and I have been selling DVR's for years.... Mostly through Visual Management Systems. As of the last 6 months, I have been purchasing NETPROMAX equiptment, and conducting fairly simply 4/8 channel systems in mom and pop stores and residences myself. I am getting more serious about the CCTV as it is something I truly enjoy doing. As for this forumn, I found this a great enviornment to ask questions, as I typically had my wiring ordered with the BNC connectors already on the wiring. I hope to obtain useful information, as I have read many of the posts and have learned lots already. I have no intention on doing anything above my ability, and plan to "sub out" if that situation ever comes to light. I enjoy talking to the professionals here, but If you have nothing useful to offer me, or question my legitimacy.... Please do not respond.....Have a great weekend, and I look forward to learning more through this forumn.

Thanks so much for everyone's advise. I guess what I didnt say is that I have been doing security consulting for the Federal Government for years..... I have been also installing CCTV for years as well, and now have consolidated both aspects into my security company.... Just looking for an installer, as I have a few easy (4 camera, indoor convienince stores) jobs coming up, and don't find it cost effective to travel down to Texas from Washington..... Thanks for the help though. trust me, I never have and never intend on doing anything "over my head".

Thanks for the advise.... The reason he wants to keep his original VCR and multiplexor is b/c the origianl system has (4) video outs from the multiplexor which allows him to view his video on (4) spot monitors. He wants to keep the monitors, and the NETPROMAX DVR that I am using only has a (1) channel composite out. His only reason for keeping the old system is so that he can see those monitors..... Most likely i will be disconnecting the DVR. Thansk again, and let me know if you can think of any other solutions...
