Please help me pick the best choice:

Keep us updated on when you get your order and how it goes for you Sunny I know from your posts that you know better than that. So PLEASE stop misinforming the poster. These are true HD cameras as you can clearly see from the spec. The nvr and the camera are NOT using mpeg4 but rather h.264. The reason why its the listing has the TVL and mpeg options is simply to let the user choose the type of lens, 2.8 3.6 etc and to allow choosing different options in the NVR like poe and the amount of channels. This is done because ali express does NOT have the option to let the vendor input the lens size. There are NO analog sensors on Dahua cams..the tvl numbers are added by the vendor in lieu of selecting the lens size. The vendor does the same think with hikvision cameras http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-hikvision-3megapixel-3mp-array-30m-IR-Network-Dome-DS-2CD2332-I-support-POE-free-shipping/638300_1396985171.html Do you understand now? You are deliberately misleading the op...these are the LATEST cameras from dahua. You know this and a purposely misinforming. Shame on you. Please stop recommending old analog junk to users. If 80 dollars for a camera is expensive then you are in the wrong line of work. Also please note that sunny works for a company that sells analog cards for pc...analog should not be used on a new install of this type. The only thing the op should confirm is that the NVR can support 4mp..its lists 5mp and 3mp...I am pretty confident that it will record the 4mp..worst case set the camera to 3mp.. Hi Boogieman, I have made the order for those two items, now I will wait. Thank you for your help, and I probably ( if I don't forget ) will post here once I have successfully set everything up. Once again, thank you.
  3. I just found his website last week, saw the info on his site. Sad, even though I didn't know him at all, it's very sad. Great site though, one of the best. <3

    EX-Employee Password Lock

If they won't talk, make them talk jk, I don't know if a factory reset would solve this issue or not. Someone more experienced with your exact DVR would need to help out. You need to post what equipment you have.

    EX-Employee Password Lock

I don't know of anything myself other than a factory reset, besides asking the person directly to be decent and tell you what they changed it to.
  6. You guys are really making me want some HD cameras bad now, and I've just bought some 84ir analog cameras a few months ago. They are great for analog though!
  7. Odd, I'm not familiar with that codec. What about renaming your file to .mp4 and seeing if you can load it into handbrake? I don't think that is going to change anything for what you are describing, but worth a shot. Is the file corrupt maybe? Does it play okay? Because you said the others in the same codec had no issues but this one isn't working. Someone else will probably have a better answer, good luck
  8. Have you tried the free software, handbrake?

    Ghosting

My issues seems to be at the BNC behind the DVR, I am not 100% sure, I haven't really dug into it since my post. I have been doing other things, but I've got to find the fix as I would like to set motion detection on the 2 cameras that are ghosting. It trips the motion detection because of the ghosting on the cameras. I may swap my power supply out and see if that changes anything also, eliminate all possible issues. Since mine are on separate video cables now and the problem still exists, not too much left.

    Ghosting

I'm having the same issue as you, I've made a post but no fix for it yet. Also, when I disconnect just the video from 1 of my cameras that is ghosting, it disappears lol Here is my post with more info, maybe someone can help us viewtopic.php?f=6&t=46822
  11. I'm actually testing mine right now looking at the blue sky and it isn't doing the lines like it did the other day in the house. I guess it is related to the lighting. Beautiful blue sky with clouds today!
  12. I think I know exactly which camera that is based on the time stamp and bottom left corner naming of the camera. Mine is doing the same exact thing, I got mine about 5 days ago and while testing it, it had the same lines just like yours. I assumed it was because of the wifi reception was bad even though the camera is like 7 feet from the router line of sight. I'd be curious the fix also As mine is a 1080p wifi "spy cam" with micro sd card slot and a little wifi antenna.

If I may, to help clarify. (I could be wrong, but this is just my thoughts) Okay, TVL does mean quality with analog camears, BUT on aliexpress they have used TVL with a conversion chart to allow choices of LENS type with HD cameras. You know what I mean? Is that correct? Since aliexpress is limited in options when listing their products for sale, they just used TVL to list as an extra option for choice of LENS Size. That's what I gathered from looking at the cameras on aliexpress yesterday.
  14. Maybe your DDNS host was having issues temporarily.

    CCTV Image Problem

Someone else will be of better help than I, but the horizontal bars, it seems like interference from something electrical like a microwave maybe? or a power supply that isn't outputting enough power. Just throwing out my help to maybe give you ideas until someone else can give more information for you.
  16. Thank you for the clarification, all my work I am doing is my personal home only. My security camera operation has evolved so much since 2005, I was looking at some old tapes from my old cameras, wow, Things have come so far since then haha.
  17. Okay, the answer to my question may be obvious, but I am not 100% sure, so I would like to ask before spending more time or attempting something stupid. I have a PTZ camera that has a 12v 0-4a power supply, I have some CAT5e cable that I want to turn into a dedicated power wire for the camera. It has 8 wires inside the CAT5e cable. I have run about 30-45ft of the CAT5e cable, I want to know if when creating my own power cable out of the CAT5e cable, should the wires be split evenly for the + and - connections. 4+ wires and 4- wires? Or can I do 6+ and 2- wires? Is that safe, or should it be equal 4+ / 4-? I have already wired a 30-45ft of CAT5e cable to the PTZ camera which for video I only did 2 wires for video 1+ / 1- wires. and then for the power in the same CAT5e cable I did 3+ / 3- wires and the camera didn't power up, on the TV you see it go from NO SIGNAL to a quick flicker, and back to NO SIGNAL. So I decided to run an extension cord temp and plug the power supply up directly to the PTZ camera and it worked fine, the video was fine with only 1+ / 1- wire over the 30-45ft cable run. Okay, sorry for the novel, I'm asking because if it ends up working fine with 6+ / 2- at first, I would worry that over time it could be dangerous.
  18. What can you do if you need to run power and video cables next to each other? I am having an issue of ghosting from 2 cameras that are beside each other. I have run separate video lines for each of the cameras to try and get rid of the ghosting but it made it only slightly less noticeable. I'm not sure if it's the power causing it or what, but if you have 2 cameras under an eve of a house right beside each other, what can you do to shield the cables from each other. (As the way it has to be run, the cables are all having to go through the same hole and they are touching each other. The cameras have BNC connectors that goes from the video cable into the cameras. Thanks
  19. Any ideas? I'm going to be doing some work on the system soon and I'd like to have a general idea of what the solution could be, as I do not know much else since they are on separate video lines and still the issue exists slightly. Adding plenty of electrical tape around the BNC connectors? camera and DVR side? Thanks everyone

    Cheap receiver for in-car use

Something to help you find more results, search for "taxi dvr" etc good luck
  21. Not to be a bummer, but make sure you aren't breaking any laws for being near or "disturbing" a nest, an eagle's nest no less. Some things can get complicated, good luck though
  22. I forgot to add this the other day, okay... The 2 cameras next to each other, they have a ghost image that moves vertical right to left. You can see things from Camera 1 in Camera 2, and the images from Camera 2 in Camera 1 (like the outline of a building that's camera 2 is pointed at, ghosts into Camera 1) vice versa. Okay, but if you unplug ONLY the video cable from 1 of the cameras, the ghosting and vertical right to left disappears. Doesn't matter which video cable you unplug from either camera. Even with the power still going to the camera, weather you unplug the video cable at the camera, or at the DVR end, it will clear either camera right up. Again, the video cables for each camera are now separate cables run, before they were in 1 cat6 cable, but I tried to fix it by running a 2nd dedicated video line. Still same thing, just slightly less noticeable. Thanks
  23. I fixed it, I bought a completely different new cable. As I thought from the very start, the original cable I was using has some sort of problem. (It was a brand new cable!!!) I thought it was odd when the original cable didn't work, I was right, but I still don't know what's wrong with the cable, but I've used it elsewhere and it gave me problems on just a video run, junk cable. Thanks everybody for your input! edited: (for anybody clicking the ebay link to see the PTZ camera I have, for some strange reason the seller had edited the listing and changed it to a different product, even my purchase history shows the newly changed product. (some scooter thing) Odd, lol. I just wanted to point that out to anybody wondering why the ebay link is some electric scooter instead of a PTZ camera.
  24. No, the only thing "pre-made" are the pigtails that come off the cameras, and then my BNC connectors, then it goes to cat6 cable for video (2 separate cat6 cables for 2 cameras, as I tried to eliminate the slight vertical right to left ghosting) The power cable with a Y to split the power at the cameras is a siamese cctv cable, but I'm only using power on the siamese cable. thanks
  25. Sorry, for lack of info, I wasn't thinking. 12v 4a power supply, the power cable is only about 30 feet away. They are 1200TVL 84IR led cameras, nothing special, but the picture isn't bad for SD. Thanks
