Need advice for a new 4-Cam DVR System

I was in the same boat at you-- this cctv equipment is getting very expensive. Here is what I bought for $2700 (not including a 19" lcd I had to borrow from my other computer) and I did the install myself which was very hard, frustrating, especially since one cable and one cable came doa and it was making me crazy. It's working alright now but its only been 1 month. Some things I learned: 1. This is a lot more expensive than my xcam. 2. 12mm cameras are good for facial recognition 3. Test the equipment before you install the camera on the roof. 4. Focus the cameras at night. $800 16ch dvr 240fps live /240fps record pc based with dvr burner. 720x480 (ebay) $170 KT&C B&W bullet varifocal $137 6mm super had ir bullet 480 lines $168 12mm 200 ir camera 480 lines $600 for 3 seperate 12mm color bullet cameras 420 lines exview 0.05 lux $80 12mm color bullet 420 lines 0.05 lux sony ex view (from craigslist) $120 3.6mm color ir 80 4 black enclosures 58.96 power supplies 12v dc 20 signs 34.55 keyboard mouse 25 radioshack 37.97 cables 200'ft x2 58.96 cables 150ft x 3 40.00 cables 100ft x2 34 home depot 40 hd 28 hd screws 13 more signs
  2. during night time it is blurry and grainy. I am a noobie. Does this mean I need to back focus the camera? (Don't know how to do that). Varifocal lens, auto ir, dc drive, ALC set to on.

    Inox IX5600 ?

I am just a furniture store owner and 3 weeks ago I didn't know what anything about cctv. I was running around like crazy trying to figure out why some cameras didn't work only to find out there inox 5600's were shipped defective. I mounted the inox's on a 18ft high roof directed on the truck 20 feet from the wall-- I guess the distance from camera to truck would be 27 ft. It had fairly good picture and excellent color (for the short while it worked. I am now going with B&W high res to see better at night.

    Inox IX5600 ?

I have a feeling your camera body is going to turn from black to gold like some one sprayed painted it soon-- another common problem.
  5. The camera is on top of the 18ft roof on the left side. The light is in the middle of the roof 15 ft away from the left side camera. Both the light and the camera are pointed north on a square building. The cameras inside are pointed to the front of the store (has ceiling to floor windows). Outside is lighted but the inside of the store is dark so reflections are not that bad. Plus cameras are 15 ft away from store front inside in the dark.
  6. This is the camera I have now: Sony 1/3" CCD Super HAD 480 Lines 0 Lux IR Mode 3.6mm Auto-Iris Lens 56 IR LEDs 150' Illumination Range This camera is in a dark parking lot that is about 2000 sq ft. It is lit with a 100w flourescent bulb which actually does a good job lighting up the parking lot. At night this color camera doesn't go into black and white mode with the ir leds lit. It records in color and at night you can't see much. I am going to put a black and white KT&C KPC650BH with a 3.5 - 8mm Vari Focal DC Auto Iris C/CS Mount Lens. I haven't installed it but I hope it solves my problem. I will be converting to B/W as well since the other cameras are inside facing a wall of windows outside that are very well lit-- the reflections are not that bad. Is this because the parking light is not dark enough to activate the ir leds but not bright enough to actually get a good night picture with a color camera?

    Inox IX5600 ?

I am going through the same thing. I got 2 of these inox lx5600ir and one of them never powered up and the other one had the same issue you described--a black spot shaped like a thick C on the left side of the picture-- I thought the sun shade was extended too far and I must have checked the sun shade 10x. As for 12v dc power I would have to rotate the 12v plug forever until the signal came in. Never again will I buy those cameras.
