OK, it appears ELP CCTV, http://www.elpcctv.com/, who used to sell IP security camera equipment, now sell mostly just USB camera's, for use insuch things as industrial and vending equipment etc (going by their Youtube video), hence all their camera's are USB. Maybe they should change thier website address ! its very misleading. USB Security Camera's as you suggest are ' Usb cameras are usually webcams or cheap China smart cams', am I right to say that a proper IP camera is going to be a better solution, and even better than an analogue camera ? I already have a network of IP camera's, and spare cables run ready.

I have IP camera's with standard RJ45 Ethernet and POE adapters running to a standard ethernet switch, with the cameras then controlled by iSpy running on a PC - itself connected by RJ45 cable to the switch. I see the manufacturer mostly now supplies USB, instead if a RJ45 socket. I presume this is to make supply of power simpler, and reduce costs. How though do you connect up a number of USB cameras to something like iSpy, do you use a USB hub/splitter, and then connect that to a PC USB port ? if you have a number of USB camera's connected, can the one USB Cable feeding the hub handle to current required ? May seem a simple question, but have never come across a USB hub.

I now use iSpy, very good, was not aware of such open source software until recently. The Chinese CMS software was terrible, half baked, and glad I found somethiing that just works.

Hi Thanks, I am currently using it as an Onvif camera with iSpy, and works fine, apart from I cant login to it to change the PW and IP. Agree about the QR code, but am reluctant to allow some random server access to my network. iSpy found it on the network, so I have the IP, but inpoutting that to a browser goes no where: but browser access is proving unsuccessful (using the IP address format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) - I get 'The connection was reset' in Firefox, and 'This Page Isn't Working' ... etc with ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE from Chrome. Is there any other way, such as with iSpy or others that can login to the camera. Thanks Rob

Hi, I have a Flourean WiFi Camera Model WXHI100W-V10 Camera. I have it working fine with iSpy 64 v7.1.10 on wired Cat5e/6 cabling. (I do not want to use it via the 'app'). I wish to change the camera's IP and Password, but browser access is proving unsuccessful (using the IP address format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) - I get 'The connection was reset' in Firefox, and 'This Page Isn't Working' ... etc with ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE from Chrome. Is the Camera blocking browser access ?, should I add any port numbers or switches in the URL ? Can I change the password with iSpy. or another App, I see one thread regarding 'bricked' camera's and Smart Config Tool, but that appears to be manufacturer specific. Any help appreciated

Hi, Thats all really helpful, thanks. I ordered them all and it worked with a mini cctv camera, albeit with the camera a little hot - but I am informed that is how they are. Knowing a POE switch supplies a more measured supply - I think that is the way to go though. Thanks again.

I also want to power a separate microphone - situated next to each camera - can someone tell me if this will work: One end of CAT45 plugged into POE Switch, Other end of CAT45 fitted with POE Splitter, the 12v DC Connector end split, feeding 1) camera 2) Mic (obviously the CAT45 from the splitter then goes into camera) Also, the power supply that came with the camera (12v +/- 2.0A), make the cameras run quite hot - do POE switches supply a more measured current.

We thought the cheap power supply might be at fault, but we simply used a DC battery pack to power the mic, but still had the buzzing. We had another white half golf ball dome mic (a KJ-803) - which was originally supplied with the Camera - which works fine, so it the mic. I assume CCTV camera mics are not all the same, and you need a specific type of mic to work with an IP camera (assuming you want to feed the audio shared with the video - down the CAT45 cable) ???

Hi, Re: Mic Background Noise on IP Camera DIY Install. I am getting a buzz/throbbing noise from a separate microphone - which is plugged into my IP camera, I can hear sound in the supplied CMS software, but it is mostly obscured by the noise - it is quite loud, any ideas why would be helpful. I have tried just laying the mic. lose on a surface (it was pushed into a hole) - at least a foot away from the camera, to rule out interference. I have also put my finger over the mic - but that too made no difference. Any pointers would be helpful.

Hi I am installing a home CCTV system, I have bought an IP Camera from supplier_elp off of ebay, it functions well and does what I want - BUT the 'CMS' software that comes with it has NO 'manual' of any note, its installed and working - but has so many features - without proper explanation: http://www.elpcctv.com/ip-camera-cms-software-p-49.html ... it has a simple brief translated Chinese .pdf ... I have looked around forums for any threads on this software but cannot find any - could anyone point me in a direction for any discussions on this if if known, alternatively - could you recommend a similar software that comes with better support.
