  1. Thank you Tom for your help. I think I am just going to buy the first option like you suggested. Now I can sleep Also thanks to many who posted on this thread.
  2. And if needed you can change to 2mp cameras later Sorry, to compare with this one below, how does it fare? http://www.ncix.com/detail/linke-4ch-hd-cctv-nvr-surveillance-56-110385.htm
  3. Hi Tom, http://www.costco.ca/Q-See%C2%AE-4-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-1-TB-HDD-%2526-4-HD-720p-IP-Cameras.product.100092216.html This one is OK then right? At this point, I don't really care about the price as ong as it is +/- $150. Thanks for your help.
  4. I have no idea what you mean by "HD over coax". All these terms sound normal to you but to me, it's a totally different language... I still cannot understand.... perhaps you could help me pick a product off of the Canadian Costco website?? And @ SunnyKim, why do I need a separate cable? Isn't this already all-inclusive???
  5. neither of those systems is IP... The first is 960h which is poor resolution (they use 720tvl to make it appear like 720p but its not). The second is better 720p, but still not an ip system...Its hd over coax Forgive me as I have negative 9000 knowledge in CCTVs. In the specification, it says System Type: HD IP NVR... which I assumed that it is an IP camera. So would the Lorex brand still be OK for my purpose? If not, how about this one: http://www.costco.ca/Lorex%C2%AE-4-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-1TB-HDD-%2526-2-HD-1080p-Weatherproof-Cameras.product.100115634.html
  6. Hi Everyone, OK, just got back from a week long vacation. I saw so many comments and now I am soooo confused. So it seems like it is OK to go with any of the brands that Costco sells? As long as it is an IP Camera? Please note that CCTV system is only for a small store located inside a shopping mall (less than a thousand square footage in area), preferably with four cameras that can just do its simple task of capturing thieves if needed. As for the return policy at Costco, I don't mind receiving a store credit as I travel to Costco frequently anyways. Let me know if below items are OK. Thanks so much for all your input. http://www.costco.ca/Samsung-4-Channel-960H-DVR-Security-System-with-1-TB-Hard-drive-and-4-720-TVL-Cameras.product.100219696.html http://www.costco.ca/Lorex-4-Channel-500GB-720p-HDDVR-with-4-HD-Cameras.product.100155304.html
  7. With all due respect, all the responses I am getting back, are totally confusing to me. So, if I want to go with a manual solution, then would below work? Two of http://www.amazon.ca/Hikvision-DS-2CD2132-I-Vandalproof-Waterproof-Security/dp/B00XJI76IE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1437751894&sr=8-3&keywords=Hikvision#productDetails + http://www.amazon.ca/DIGITAL-VIDEO-RECORDER-DS-7204HWI-SH-HIKVISION/dp/B00U9QKD16/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1437751894&sr=8-13&keywords=Hikvision
  8. Had no idea he was a spammer. anyways, like this one? Although, it seems like there isn't a "kit" where I can have more than just one camera. I guess I need to buy like 4 of these? And a separate hard drive? At your price point, piecing together a system is your best bet. 4 of those cameras, and a Hikvision PoE NVR with a 2TB or 4TB HDD should suffice. Hello, That sounds like it will blow my budget by more than $500... or am I doing something wrong here? sorry, I have zero clue when it comes to these. So those cameras are literally standalone which has no storage capability, and the PoE system you mentioned does exactly.. what? Can you help me find a product on amazon so I can get a idea as to what you're referring to? supervideo-8ch-megapixel-720p-hd-cctv-12-106686 What about this one?

  10. Hi Everyone, What is a good brand if I want to spend around $500 (in Canadian dollars) for a small store's CCTV set-up? I have heard about QVIS but I can't seem to find any retailers here in Canada for that brand... Thanks in advance.
