You are running the Geovision app that blocks access to windows. "Key lock" or something. Sorry, cant remeber the name. Log in, move mouse to bottom of screen, the geovision version of the taskbar will appear. Click on options button, look for the option that reads something like "on startup show DESKTOP or GEOVISION" Choose desktop and reboot.

GV-1240 Still or recorded image shows the same: De-interlace - slightly pixelated image, especially on any object at 45 degrees. No de-interlace - no pixelation. I think the de-interlace on my graphics card is bad. Waiting for a new one. This image recorded using 640x480 no de-interlace:

Just put a similar speced system in. 4 cams recording at 720x480, 8 cams recording at 360x240 I am using the GeoMPEG codec as it appears to be better quality. CPU usage 20% Drop to GeoMPEG and compare image quality and CPU usage. Im still not decided on this. Recording with No de-interlace is a really smooth image with slight tearing on movement. Recording De-Interalace shows jaggys all over the image. Not checked filesize yet. GV-2004 a four cam card GV-2008 an eight cam card

Hi johnt. Check you are not also using "Schedule recording". Also drop motion sensitivity and mask off areas of movement you dont need.

Streaming Live Video on a web page
photys replied to adrianpearce's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hey adrian. Webpage is redirecting to your LAN IP, not your WAN IP Thats why is works localy. Im guessing you need some html wizardry and port forwarding to change 192.168.1.10 to your WAN and port number. Internet explorer: Hangs with "Opening page 192.168.1.10" in the status bar. Firefox shows: Then the frame below times out. -
Theres a setting in Geovision to restart the application if it cannot find a video signal within a set period of time. In v8 it might even try to reboot the computer. If this has only started since recording onto new hard drive, it may have bad sectors. But you say it happens when your not recording. Curious. Could be a multitude of things. Next time it shuts down, boot it, open your BIOS (tap F2 or delete), check the motherboard temperature, generaly under hardware monitor. Should not be over 50c Boot it up and check event viewer for errors. Nice one crirvine Is critical with geovision systems.

Please post Geovision screenshots so we can compare quality.

Same camera at night, built in IR lights. Minimum ambient light. Some issues here I need to resolve: 1 bad pixel Focusing. The auto iris closes to average value of the picture and not the guy walking towards the cam. The next cam we put up there will be zoomed in so the iris will adjust more effectively. Working on it -
Can you post a screenshot of some recorded images here? "have as high as possible frames" Looks like you can set the frames per second in the unit, 100 for CIF, 25 for D1 Its a 100 Frames per second (FPS) 4 channel DVR. Generaly this means a maximum of 25 FPS per camera. CIF recordings - maximum frames per second = 25 per camera (real time recording). D1 recordings - maximum frames per second = 6 per camera. So you should get real time recordings with lower quality video, or jerky recordings with higher quality video.

Just stripped a couple of board cams, (different models). Spotted a , 1mm x 2mm raised red panel with a shallow philips head. Looks like its attached to a resistor connected to the CCD chip. What does this adjust?

Kensplaces is spot on. Sparks, for smooth playback, drop to CIF. Smaller image size generaly means more frames per second (smoother playback). I got some really smooth playback of some thieves robbing on Saturday night......cant recognise them though! Second cam captured at D1 (FRAME) with only 6 frames per second, but i got a recognisable head shot Regarding the conversion issue, I don´t know. Never tried a dedicated DVR.

Backup and EZViewLog it is then. The police can contact me if they need more. ak357, 501, rory and kensplace, thank you all for taking the time to answer.

Where do I get the CODEC for: 1, Original .AVI files 2, Exported .AVI files I will supply the police with the whole ViewLog backup and the exported files. Also what do you supply the police for best Evidence sharing?

Apps running: Webcam and CCS is running remote view log. They are external IP´s. Tracerouted to this local area. Using a two day old supervisor password. It appears Remote view retrys every 10 seconds. That would account for the frequency of the hammering This company also runs a WPA enabled wireless LAN. Maybe some local smartarse. Im whitelisting my IP. For the moment its quiet.

UPDATE: Hacked? Logs show someone trying to log into my system 3 or 4 times a minute with old user/password. Switched 1201 to 1202, but still having problems. GV-1240 - Network slowdown and disconnects. Within 2 minutes of starting the webserver, the speed drops to about a 1/6th of normal. XP Home SP2 GV-1240 Dedicated Geovision specification computer, no other applications except an anti virus. V8.1, also upgraded V8.11. Ran multiple virus and spyware scans. (Mcaffee, NOD32, Adaware, spyware doctor ect) Noticed this on two different recent Geovision installs. Remote viewing works great LAN and WAN for a couple of days, then I get slow connections and occasional client side application crashes. Nothing in the Geovision computers Event viewer. Temporary solution: Restart Geovison softwear. This resolves the issue for about 20 minutes. Any ideas?

Yeah, record at best and D1 (or FRAME as they call it). This means slow frame rate and less storage time, but better quality images. If its an old bullet cam, it probably doesnt supply 720x576 pixels to the recording, so it will be blurred regardless of what we do. I was just wondering how many pixels a camcorder supplies. Remeber that 720x576 is DVD standard. Except we will never see DVD quality unless ya hook up a near broadcast quality cam Standard camcorder is probably 640x480 as they tend to connect via S-Video cable. Try recording at CIF. The bullet cams/camcorder will be able to supply more than 352x288. If there is still blur then I imagine its due to the DVR´s compression. The "Best" setting on your DVR means least possible compression, but it will still be compressed. Don´t mistake blur for compression. I mean, imagine a compressed Jpeg image on the internet, you dont see sharp pixels when you zoom in, you see kinda smoothed out weird coloured pixels. If you record at "Normal" or "Basic" you will see more compression. Might help you discern if its the cams limitation or the DVR´s limitation. If i have learned anything about CCTV its that theres always a limitation looming somewhere. Have a play, its half the fun mate.

Update. Now the logs are showing something trying to log in 3 or 4 times a minute with the old user/pass. Its been hammering for 4 hours now.

At least 100 people on this forum are more qualified to answer, but here goes CIF: 352 x 240 pixels D1: 720 x 480 pixels (or FRAME by their terminology) It differs if your PAL or NTSC, but those are good guidelines. Most DVRs rate there maximum frames per second capture capabilities when recording at CIF (352 x 240 pixels). Grabbing at D1/FRAME (720 x 480 pixels) uses roughly 4 times the power. Your unit can capture 120 frames per second recording at CIF, and 30 frames per second recording at D1/FRAME. Regarding "blur". 1, Clean the lenses 2, Focus the cameras. 3, Check the TLV on your cameras, less than 480TVL may record blurry at D1/FRAME 4, Make sure your cameras can capture close to 720 x 480 pixels or its not worth recording at that lvl, (I sometimes do even with dodgy 510 x 492 pixel cameras) 5, Change the "Image Quality Setting" to "Best" Those GE- 480SHRAI-VF´s you asked about have the pixels and the TVL´s needed. Which cams did you buy in the end? Hope that helps a little. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks CollinR. Yes im using h.264. Problem is that withing 2 minutes of starting the web server the bandwith dies. Whether im connected or not. I can still get remote access and still view images, but at about 1/6th of the speed. I have changed all usernames and passwords. Will watch and see if the problem re-occurs.

EDIT: Pulled the auto-log in account and replaced by new one. Still having problems Almost like someone was logging in automatically and sucking up the bandwidth.... Security check time.....

Only have V6 at hand, sure its similar in other versions: Configure - System Configure - Text Overlay Setting. For webcam, I belive its in the client option screen.

my cameras are turning on and off
photys replied to carlosmarin's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
In my very limited experience If it flickers off/on quickly with colour distortion: bad BNC connection. If it fades to black: bad power. -
English: A few ideas. Check your Db15 is connected to 1-8 not 9-16 Card should run V8 softwear, but try v6 Try a DVD input to test the card, then connect your cameras directly to a TV to test cams Confirm your cameras are getting sufficient power.

Setting up Online Viewing - Help
photys replied to skeee1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Not knowing your specific equipment, I´ll take this from a networking angle. Port 80 is already in use within your router. Can you change the port within the CPCam DVR to 1201 for example. Then port forward 1201 within the router. Connect using xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1201 (replacing xxx for your WAN side IP address or DNS account name). -
If memory serves: jpeg viewer runs on 81, webcam on 80 (or 1201). 82 is not pre-configured So with DMZ enabled you will connect on 81 or 80 regardless of your port forwarding. You re-configured Geovision to serve on 82 and forwarded it to 82 on the wan side. A UPnP enabled router may be switching you around. Tempting to default the port forwarding and Geovision settings and start again, bearing in mind 80,81,1201 come pre-configured to serve within Geovision.
