I want to quickly install V8.x MultiView and ViewLog from a usb stick rather than download from the host computer. Also, if possible, import my hosts. Where do I find the installation files on the host computer, and the host info on my computer. Thanks in advance.

480tvl dome cameras Geovision gv-800 and gv-1240 Recording high quality, mpeg4 or h.264 When I record without de-interlacing, my static images are gorgeous! Needless to say moving images are torn. Recording de-interlaced gives me a lot of jaggy lines. If I buy 520tvl cams will this reduce jaggys or is it the DVR?

Anyone know which Avermedia standalones have motion masking?

thanks for reply kateoh_99 Just got confirmation from Avermedia Spain -
Thanks for the reply kensplace. And congratulations on the promotion Bad terminology alert Sorry, my bad. Its the "jaggy" lines in field 1 and 2 I want to minimize. They also show on the lampost and the roadside of your image. Each jaggy seems to be made up of 2 or 3 pixels (horizontal or vertical) I see them on stills at actual size. Are those jagged edges produced by the camera or the DVR Would a quality DSP or progressive scan camera reduce those jagged edges? survtech A progressive cam shows no pixelation at actual size?
-
Thanks for the reply survtech. Just to make sure I have this right. In theory, if TV shows 340TVL then: A 340TVL progressive scan cam would not show jaggys. A 2.1 interlaced 680TVL cam would not show jaggys. Have I grasped this?

Is this a good system? SVAT CV0104dvr and CV31 ...
photys replied to jsavchak's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yeah. The standard kit includes 320TVL CMOS! -
Works just like my STOP THIEF signs

The CV31 cameras are 420TVL Sharp CCD. Better than the CMOS cameras they also offer. Good choice. Careful with close up shots and the 45 feet IR lights those cams have. You may bleach out peoples faces. A small motion activated floodlight could work wonders for image quality at night. -
Please excuse my ignorance. I thought higher TLV reduced jaggies. Should a 540TVL line cam with 768 x 494 effective pixels have jaggies like that?

V2 GV-800 card. Geovision V6.05 Audio is in sync when using view log. But when I export, the audio is about 1 second out. Any settings I need to play with?
-
Yes, I imagine AVI is the problem. To be honest, i forgot about this. I´ll have another play.

Your talking about the GV-1120 to gv-1480 range yes? You get good DSP results on the computer screen using on-board graphics with this MB? If so im converted.

If your on a budget, heres a very low light example for $130: no brandname built in IR 480 tvl bullet cam 3.8mm lens $130

Hi Scruit. There are many members more qualified to answer than me, but I recommend cameras as a first step. A good test of your DVR´s potential: Plug your DVD player or Camcorder into the DVR and see what quality you can record. Thats going to give you an idea of how a good camera will look. In my experience, H264 is not a quality guarantee. That codec is not implimented well by some manufacturers. You may end up with lower quality images. Regarding the other questions. After testing with a DVD output, if your not satisfied, buy DVR, then cameras. If your DVR shows good results from a DVD, 480 will make a big difference. 480 is mimimum quality for recordings of that size (720x480) H264 encoding will reduce file size, but by no means is a guarantee of better quality. I have seen H264 encoding being worse. Im lazy, i like IR domes/bullets. Any 480tvl bullet/body/dome will be an improvement on 380tvl during the day. Nightime depends on Lux rating, when the camera switches to low light settings, IR cutfilters, CCD quality. A brandname body camera with DSP (Digital signal processing) and seperate illumination should be better than any bullet. But i dont have the body camera experience to say that 100%. Comes down to budget. Small domes tend to be bullets in different casings, (bullets generally have a tiny 33mx33m circuit board with a lens on top). Bigger domes can use the innards of a body cam. If the dome has C or CS lens, then its comparable to a body cam.

Advice on a Hybrid starter pack :)
photys posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Im about to start testing small 8 cam Hybrid systems. Probably using: Arecont AV2100 and AV3130(for low light) Avermedia NV cards and standard analogue IR dome cams As far as I can see, the Arecont cams are best "bang for the buck". So...... Why not Arecont? Why not Avermedia? -
If memory serves, the GV-1240 is 195mm x 100mm x 20mm I wanted to go small form factor, but its a chunk of a card.
-
Is that the Avermedia NV7000H?

Imagine I record CIF with 8 cams and D1 with 4 cams. Would a 400 FPS card give me near 25 fps per camera? ie, If recording in D1 takes up 4 times the power 8x25 (CIF) = 200fps 2x100 (D1) = 200fps 400fps total Or is it maximum or 25fps per channel?

Recordings showing interlacing: When choosing Video source from the main application, you can choose to record De-interlaced or not. ie, 640x480 / 640x480 de-interlace. In MultiView, ViewLog and other remote view applications, there is a "De-Interlace render" option. Turn it on to get rid of the interlacing you see when you plaback. Live playback showing interlacing: Replace graphics card. One of my systems is running the GV-1240 with DSP overlay on. It has a temporary graphics card and all the live playback fed through the DSP function shows interlacing. Switching to a recommended graphics card fixes it. Hope that helps a little.

To get the best out of our Geovision systems, I think it would help to post images to compare quality. If you could be so kind as to post an original image with a little info on: Camera brand, TVL, Price, Recording Interlaced or De-interlaced, ect. If posting the image is a problem, please PM me. Thank you very much for helping.

Its identical to the GV-Data Capture V2 box I have in my hand! Except replace that Avermedia sticker for a Geovision one. Avermedia and Geovision are in direct competition.
-
I have only done this once..... Next time I´ll use a Data Capture box. Results were not great, very little control over how the text appears on the screen. For a run of 30 feet, you could do it with a specially rigged serial cable, if the cash register is compatible. The serial cable needs two wires crossed. If memory serves, pin 3 at till goes to pin 2 in the computer. Short out pins 4 and 6 at the till end (stops the cash register freaking out if the computer is down). Everyone I talked to said there is a limit of 30 feet.

SOLVED - Installing MultiView and ViewLog from a USB stick.

Great, you found them on the original disc. Which directory?
