Hi all, I put this in another thread but it may not get noticed and i need to fix this real soon. I have the card set up and everything is working well except for the fact that all 4 cam signals are jumping vertically, I know for a fact that its not the cams, cables or connectors and I have now tried 3 different graphics cards and the problem is there all the time. I cannot find any info relating to this on avers site and am out of ideas. Can anyone help ?

Thanks, i did solve it by using the latest software. Unfortunately im now only getting a max 6 fps on each of 6 cams, im using the 4 ch extension and I should be able to get 12 fps across 8 cams. After spending all this time I now wish i had bought a geo card, but there you go - we make our choices.

Hi, Is there anyway of testing the watchdog feature with the nv5000 ? I need to know if the system will actually reboot properly if the watchdog tells it to. Thanks
-
This happens to all cameras for me, ir, non ir, bullets, housed, domed etc It seems that bugs and spiders just love anything camera shaped round here. On one of my cams I have an army of magpies, sparrows and other assorted feathered friends that visit every single day to see if there are any bugs to eat, the magpies literally attack the camera. My next attempt will be an electric wire that fries anything that comes near the cam, and probably blow the cams circuit board at the same time.

Hi all, Ive got my nv5000 running on a server system now and its all pretty good after some trouble with the aver auto driver install. I have no soundcard or onboard sound, but it still records audio from the cams which is fine for remote, backup and playback on another system, so no probs there. What I would like to do is get the pc speaker to beep for motion detection warning in the alarm setting but cant work out how. There is an official microsoft driver for 95,98 and m.e. but sadly none for xp due to its lack of integration with dos. The annoying thing is that the aver dvr software will make the pc speaker beep if i type my password wrong but I cannot get it to beep for an alarm detection. Its probably not possible but thought I would ask. On a different note, its great to have motion detection with masking again. Such an important feature which is still sadly missing from the standalone dvr's. Thanks

NV5000 No signal showing, no errors, no messages ???
paranoid replied to paranoid's topic in AverMedia
Actually i solved the issue by reinstalling and uninstalling the avermedia software several times, its all caused by the avermedia auto driver install which runs a macro on the mouse to click the windows whql warnings. This auto click install is not a good idea imho Thanks -
Hi all, Just installed a new nv5000 on a brand new xp pro system running no other software apart from avg anti virus and win xp firewall. Everything installed without any errors or warnings but I cannot view any cameras, and i know they are all working, the dvr viewer opens as normal but there are no cameras displaying, worse is the fact that there are no errors, warnings or messages ? Could it be the onboard 32mb graphics ? There are no warnings about the graphic chip and it appears to be working fine. Any help much appreciated, its a bit difficult to know whats wrong when the dvr software tells me nothing is wrong. Thanks

This may help, I have just tried switching the software to ntsc (i am pal here) and apart from the fact that it all goes monochrome and resized wrong, the picture on all 4 is 100% stable ?? Does this mean the problem is definitely the card or the cards software and not the host system ? Thanks

NV5000 No signal showing, no errors, no messages ???
paranoid replied to paranoid's topic in AverMedia
Thanks, ive now got it running on a much older, more out of date, p4 system. Unfortunately I have vertical signal shake on all 4 cams which doesnt happen when the same cams and cables are attached to a standalone averdigi dvr ??? Any help would be great, i bought the nv5000 for its extensive search capabilities and these will be rendered pretty much useless by vertical shake on all 4 feeds. Thanks in advance -
NV5000 No signal showing, no errors, no messages ???

Thanks for the reply. I didnt spec according to avermedia guidleines, the box is a server that was never used so I was hoping it would be ok. Im happy to solve problems, but it just a bit difficult to find out what they are. There are no recorded or live signals to view, its almost as if the card is simply not recognising that a camera has been attached to any of its inputs. The server is an acer altos g330 mk11 with an intel xeon 3ghz, im wondering if the mobo's main chipset is on avermedias 'no' list. Thanks -
Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows of a dvr or card that allows all available fps to be used by 1 cam signal, this is for a project that requires a higher frame rate than 25 fps. I seem to remeber the geo cards do this but would prefer a standalone like the avermedia etc. Thanks

Hi, Can anyone tell why my 2 1304 net dvrs record only the faintest sound even with a battery powered omnidirectional condenser ? Is it simply because the audio hardware in the 1304 is not much good ? Thanks

Avermedia 1304 audio channel too quiet ?

Thanks, I sorted it in the end by adding a mic preamp box, it works very well but im surprised I need a powered mic and preamp box ! -
Hi all, I need to hook up a feed from an averdigi 1304 net so that anyone anywhere can view the live stream. I have no experience of ddns and am also concerned about the possibility of having my system hacked by an online user. Can anyone make any suggestions as to how this all works ? Many thanks

Averdigi ddns setup for public viewing

Hi Scorpion and thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned im concerned about my actual pc being hacked and not really the dvr, although it would be a problem if someone erased the dvr hard disk. Its attached to my router which is also attached to my business pc's and broadband connection, I think its on port 80 and im behind a firewall. Also im not sure that ive explained properly because I want to embed a stream from 1 camera on my website so that anyone with an internet connection can view it without additional software ? I have a feeling its not possible ? Thanks -
Hi all, I have been searching for the .avf codec required to playback the files from my 1304net without using the ridiculously slow avermedia usb playback console. Unfortunately I cannot find this codec. Am I looking at the worst case scenario of finding out that I have to use the usb playback console to convert the footage because there is absolutely no other way of doing it ? Im really hoping someone will say 'heres the link to the codec' and I can then install it and open the files in moviemaker after downloading with usb. Thanks
-
Hi all, Once again im here to ask the advice of this excellent forum Im looking for a standalone dvr that records with a standard codec that can immediately be used on a pc with media player / movie maker etc etc and not one that records to the manufacturers own codec. Im starting a project that will involve editing literally 1000's of hours of captured footage on my pc and then making web based videos from it all. I cannot possibly do it if I first have to download all the footage from the dvr and then use the dvr software to convert it all and then finally be able to work with it on the pc ! Does this dvr exist ? Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that wont help as its just another software solution that wont make the whole process any faster. Heres an example of what I want to do: Download files from averdigi dvr and then be able to play them immediately in windows movie maker without having to convert them first. The ideal soultion would be to get hold of the avermedia .dvr codec and then install it into my windows codecs. Im not sure if I remember correctly but I think you can do this with the geocodec from geovision ? Thanks
-
Anyone got any ideas ? I need to get setup soon but cant seem to find what im looking for. Thanks
-
I meant to say that I have an averdigi 1304 net which is very good, apart from no motion mask, but it takes ages to download to usb key and then it takes forever to use the software to convert to avi or mpeg. Im looking for a dvr like the averdigi that will give me avi / mpeg or divx files straight from its drive. Better still would be if I could get the averdigi .avf codec to use with movie maker or sony vegas. Thanks

Hi all, After my total dissapointment with the avermedia unit not having the ability to mask the motion areas I am now looking for a replacement. My needs are as follows: Minimum 4 ch colour. Full res recording on each channel with 25 fps pal each. Ethernet for remote access. Motion recording WITH masking. Just like the avermedia unit but with motion masking, and in a similar price range. Im in the u.k. so it has to be available here. Thanks p.s. ive had a reply from avermedia and they do not plan to have masking as a feature in future, no appologies for misleading advertising either

Standalone DVR with motion masking ?
paranoid replied to paranoid's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks for the help. I am looking at the avtec av760 which appears to be cheaper and higher spec than my avermedia 1304net, apart from the usb port on the avermedia which is useless anyway as it takes way too long to download. If anyone has personal experience with the avtec av760 please let me have your opinions. Thanks -
Hi all, Long time since posting and good to see the forum is still going strong Well since my last post I have sold my gv800 due to the fact that I no longer wanted to rely on a pc and sold my baxall (ge board) dvr due to the fact that it had no motion detect. I still have my spider friendly cams though. I have just installed an Averdigi eb1304 net and after a nitemare trying to work out why the unit was locking me out I am very upset to find no user selectable motion grid, like my geovision had. This has rendered the dvr useless to me as I have trees and bushes in all 4 areas. Does anyone have experience with this unit ? It is sold under the headline of "latest motion detection technology" and I would expect a grid for that. I was also hoping to access all of the units controls via the network but this doesnt seem possible with any of the programs supplied. Any help ? Cheers
-
Thanks for the reply. My biggest gripe is the advertising of this unit "latest motion detection technology" which is misleading and not quite true. Yes im connected via dhcp both wireless and wired and im not happy with the time it takes to view files remotely. Ive already updated the firmware and tried all of the software but still unimpressed overall. A workaround would be to have "always on" recording with motion detection at the same time, this would make it easier to search for events and also have the whole event recorded. The motion detection is glitchy and on testing it has prooved to miss half the events, tested by myself with repeated walktesting in the exact same zones. The software only has 1 real use and that is for remote viewing, the other parts of the software dont mean much as there is little to control on the unit. If avermedia come up with a motion mask firmware update or dual motion / full time recording feature then I would be reasonably happy. Thanks

Hi, Well I have to say that this appears to have been a mistake Poor motion detection No motion grid, motion detection without a grid (mask) is a bit pointless imho Lower quality files than geo No pre-record buffer Not enough overall control Searching recorded files via network too slow Im hoping some of the other avermedia owners might come along with some suggestions as to how I can get more from this unit ? Thanks Mick
