  1. Hi Folks, I am new to this so please bear with me. I would like to DIY my Home CCTV installation and intend to use an 8 channel DVR either HIKVISION or DAHUA. I need: I initially thought of wireless HDMI extenders + High Range Cordless Mouse. This is too expensive and beyond my budget. I already have a house wide 300MBPS WiFi with repeaters. I believe my TVs browser is not enough to view the stream. So my questions are : Can't use a Windows PC so Internet Explorer and ActiveX control installation rules out. Can I use a standard Dual Core Android 4.2.2 HDMI Dongle to View the stream ? Can this be done without the bundled APP. The demo from the dealer showed pretty poor frame rates. Is it due to network constraints or APP limitation ? If yes do I get to control it ? Since it is running on local network and bandwidth can be guaranteed, do I get similar visual quality as on the local HDMI/VGA Port of the DVR Can a Raspberry Pi be used as a Remote Monitor ? I have got a few lying around. I can then use the SNMP to trigger physical I/O ports on the RPi Regarding SMS, I am not allowed to use PUSH notifications at work so can anything OR service/gateway be worked out that can convert the raised Alarm events into SMS. BTW I am in India. Best Regards Sougata
