Again, we have the legal aspect covered, im looking for technical guidance. Maybe I was not clear on that in the original post. Have you designed a system like this? If so, can you share the design specs?

Im in the same boat, the problem is your IR light will only reach about 75 feet, so a zoom camera does no good for a license plate if the IR light will not activate the reflectivity of the plate to read the image.

Im looking for some help with a project we have been asked to submit a quote on. The local county has asked for cameras to be installed near the roadway to monitor traffic coming into the area, these would not be for traffic enforcement, but to review back and obtain license plates if needed if there was a crime committed in the area. The issue is I have never setup a project like this. It is rural area, and we can get a power drop from the utility company, but unsure on a cable drop. My camera suppliers do not have a setup for this, and I am starting from scratch. Has anyone on here ever set anything like this up? We have city-wide cameras, but those all run to a central point is my understanding. These would be spread out over many miles.
