DVR or NVR for doggy daycare

    - first issue I have is the comment that Ganz made concerning clients & quality. bs.......a normal IP camera won't change the quality on it's own based on # of clients. Frame rate may slow down but image quality will remain the same. - what VGA IP camera did you try? Megapixel will be the best option to upgrade to; Axis 207MW is one of my favorites........but, Axis makes some decent quality Lower resolutions cams also. - are you recording anything on these 4 cams? Avermedia makes some decent low budget stuff..............check them out. and IP cams of any quality will cost some serrious bucks. If your client is willing to go there.just do it right. Let them make the selection on which one they want and from there out you'll be the hero....but if you promise a Disneyland pic and they don't like it.....watch out!!!

    linksys dns 192.168.1.254 What???

what router model? routers usually have the x.1 and access point have the x.254............... I have had some reset issues with linksys access points before. Check your power supply to make sure it is working up to snuff. When I had those problems I found I had grabbed the wrong linksys power supply.......duh. after I got that right things seems to work better. later........
  6. what Avermedia NEEDS is an "installer" on thier software developement team that can effectively make changes............seems like the "duh" type things get past the SMART guys doing it.... like; - Auto is spelled AUTO....... - Record? ok, lets record with it......... - where is da miniumize button? - you want to monitor a IP camera via the monitor outputs? why would you want to do that? - remote platback..........why can't they atuo, I mean auto, select the "download playback and view playback". Maybe 1 person occasionally selects local playback? Get it???? - DVR startup........why should I have to use a password to start it???why not make that a selectable setup thingie? just like the atuo...I mean auto boot setuo? - and my favorite.whenever a IP camera disconnects.yes they sometimes do, the software bugs the crap out of you with popups that somethings keep you from loggin in remolely.......I mean the freaking popup just keeps on pop'n up.....hello..camera is not connecting......and if you have several IP cameras programmed and your main internet connection goes down......good luckie chuckie......I've actually spent 20 minutes or longer trying to long on via remote while these popups block the login scren...... - speaking of the remote feature.........it's nice but clunky as compared to other remote programs........but it is nice.just needs work. - PTZ function via IE or client. fraking slow moe baby!!! Unless you have your presets nailed down....good luck following any action........the larger DVR types are better than the small, but............click on "move right" and wait for it to move 1/8 an inch...and then you might be able to change the "speed"......if that option appears? again, half baked........ Products can always get better if they only take time to listen........Aver is a great product for the price but like any other DVR manufacture out there...........effecting change is hard....and yes, I've called and tried but even the "feed back" from Aver is less than exciting when I tell them to spell right......yep, got it, can do, we'll get it, okie dokie.......how hard is it to spell something right? Especiaclly when someone points it out? You'd think the person I tell would be concerned about the product image..... Hey Avermedia..........do you want me to proof read your software? ok, I feel better. Gee, I hope my supplier still loves me?
  7. now, take a regular motion light and turn it on.......post that result. my point is this. why use something "special" when something "simple" works better? IR has it's place............I always recommend and install regular lighting outdoors as it is easily maintained by the Owner/users. I appreciate the information you provided here...........but KISS is my way whenever I can figure it out

Backup video AVerDiGi EB1304NET SATA Series

CM3000 software allows you do backup the video.but it's a all or nothing and takes time to DL. Remote desktop can do 1 cam at a time.......... But, why backup all? What I od to create a backup is I use 6480e card that programs cameras from the 1304 DVR Basically I have a streaming backup 24/7. I use this at gated communities where I want to "protect" the video.........easiest way since I am azy

    balum and twisted pair

on the dvr end......use the 2 baluns on a test cable to check that they work.........then use thos eto install on one camera run........ is the cable indoors? is it run near any AC voltage wires?
  10. no.a IP camera is just another network device. you connect it into the network, usually via a POE midspan injector that provides the device power, and then connect/program via a Browser. IP POE standard is 208.11af...if my memory serves me right so keep in mind that if it is IP it may not be POE standard...........IP devices can come in different power scemes............and yes you can blow a device up if you "just check to see if it works" without provong it first............
  11. take a look at this manufacture to handle your final video output to your LCD's. http://www.audioauthority.com/ You can input 6 video "signals" with audio and send it to multiple LCD's out as far as 1000ft. per. Takes 2 CAT5 per output. I use this on sports bars.......very impressive. Your issue on the "headin" side is a completely different issue. You might input your "group" of cameras into a 6 channel matrix swicher that has loop outs and then input the combined camera signal into the Audio Authority matrix switcher which then pushes the signal out to your LCD's. The "loop out" on the switchers would allow you to run the camera into a DVR.......which keeps a record of the action. And also, the DVR can/will have some "Monitor Outputs" that you can input to the Audio Authority Matrix switcher..........if you buy the right DVR you may not need any 6 channel switchers??? My only issue with your question is......you want a 1080i end result. This means nothing if you are using Standard Def or lower inputs.........it's still standard def. BUT, with the above Audio Authority Matrix Switcher you would be able to feed "some" 1080i or higher camera's.maybe 1 or 2 per room..............and any future HD type upgrades would be easy. The Audio Authority Switcher is high speed low drag..................and in a training enviorment it would kick butt........it would also do well on Superbowl Sunday!!!!!!!!
  12. Houston........I think we have a problem here..........
  13. no they won't go into the menu's of the PTZ's.................I use a PTZ controller to set them up. I am NOT familiar with your equipment. I am speakinh from a perspective of a industry standard, not a special equipment config dependant on other things to work. The "standard" is a simple PTZ data control connection on the DVR or via a PC COMport device.
  14. in general most PTZ's connect to a DVR and are run. The 1304NET does not have a PTZ data, but the 1304NETSATA does. So, if your using a 1304NET, yes you have to control the PTZ by other means.
  15. no you don't need anything other than the PTZ controller............. and, I have seen some PTZ software that you can use to cntrol the PTZ from a PC as if it were a PTZ controller........older one I used to use was called ptzpreset.exe I have not done it this way for awhile. If you do use software you need to have a better understanding for the standard PTZ controll signalling so you can enter the PTZ Menu to program it. I used to "bang" preset #1 twice in a row to get into the Menu settings.......from there it was up, down, left, right, and ect. to setup the PTZ. I also used some wirless I/O radio's that allowed me to setup the motion detectors at distances out to 3000ft. I believe I posted a thread here on it last year............do a search to see you you can find it. Has the info on the manufacture, ect.

    Decent Day Night IP Camera

    and Video Insight
  17. I'm looking for replacement camera that will deliver detailed pictures for use at a Gated Community type gates. I normally provide 2 options for the Owners....midranged system that captures "usable" pics using analog vandal domes and the second is a better system that gets details. Almost always, the Owner(s) go with the cheap choice over the more expensive. I am feeling more comfortable with moving my midranged system from analog upto a mixture of IP cams and anaog. the more expensive system would be strictly NVR & IP My question is this; what is a decent midranged IP camera with POE? Read on................. - Arecont is top in my eyes, but expensive. I use the 3130 and have been very happy with the results. - axis is midranged BUT, most cameras have issues with Night pics. ie. blurring of pic in low light. I have to be careful where I install it based on lighting concerns. New Stuff........ -Vivotek IP7142 has caught my eye........has anyone used it yet? It's not mega pixel but it is advertised as the best IP Day/Night camera available of this type. -Axis 209MFD is also advertised as a goodDay/Night MEGAPIXEL with progressive scan.low light? Blurring? Hard to say without demoing one first. Plus, it is a ceiling mount....can it be mounted on a wall also? I don't think so........under a eve? How does it handle low light and blurring? There are others out there but I need to stay within the DVR/NVR IP Camera compatability lists..........so that narrows down the availability. Anywho, comments welcomed. I think I will purchase a Vivotek 7142 to test.......anyone have one I can view via remote???? Thanks inadvance................. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  18. one thing I know.......2 sides to every story so.... not taking anything away from your side, but, airing your laundry like you just did is wrong, especially over 500 bucks. If you have a beef go after them in a nice way and if you do choose to "get even" do it with a cloak and dagger........... and what goes around comes around............sounds to me that the biz is loosing money and your the odd man out. Not fair but it seems that even the BIG Cooporate types are just as good at walking away with large amounts of money owed.................... sorry you got slammed.............not very nice.

    integration

yes you can use the I/O ports on the DVR wired to a alarm panel. BUT, if you use motion detection as the trigger you'll need to have cameras set to motion detection with a very high reliability. Elsewise you'll get false alarms............ what I did for a client is position the cameras so that they provided 99% accuracey and then waired in 3 motion detectors into the I/O. After all was done the DVR emailed/sent pics of the motion in those areas after specific times as per a schedule. This setup caught 1 guy on motion & video robbing him outdoors (dude looked right into the camera to see if it was real!) and also prevented several attempted breakins as he got the email and went to the biz with a gun inhand..sent the thief running.......... I'd keep the 2 systems seperate..............eggs in one basket add up to a bad day if all goes wrong at once.

    is this new? 1304 netsata?

sata drive, PTZ control, the majors...............smaller in size.....
  22. VST_Man

easiest way to get events off 1304.net?

network in and remote it....easiest way. USB was buggy in that you need the firmware updated and a name brand USB stick for it to work...........but it works..... these dvr's are network happy............and they work very well.

do i need an IP camera

you don't need 6 ptz's to view calving. just put up some decent ir weather proof domes........ IP cams? depends on how you are getting the pic to you monitor. how far is the barn to the dvr? DVR to the house? are you running rg or cat5? 6 ptz's for calving? I could see a cat house but not a barn.
  24. did you hange the password? What about "Superuser"? Figure out your password...........nothing wrong if you get the login screen. If you need to reset password, call Avermedia. I always recommend that over telling ANYONE since I don't trust most in my Business....especially when it comes to passwords.
