http://www.avermedia.com this is the overseas web site. SATA is smaller, has "push pin" audio connections, PTZ control just to start with........it also has a fan which is ok but it does "whirr"....... I've had one under test for 2 months and it has been solid. the older 1304 was buggy at first but firmware upgrades have improved all issues I had Operationally............works the same as the older.........same screen, setup, remote.ect.

3130 is a shim not a cs/c..............should have come with the camera and lenses if you purchase together from someone who knows arecont cams. shims work.......noticable details clear up more. I'm using the 4mm that came with it so I can't compare to other lenses. take a look at the Axis 209 series...progressive scan maybe gtg? I'm going to buy it and see....it alos supports POE.

again, I'm not a geo, but...most software has a place to save the config file(s) so you can do what your are attempting without too much hassel.........

I have multiple Video Insight server (3.1.1.2) running 20 or more cameras each and they have been running strong for almost 3 years now. Clients are happy and so am I since the overall ease of use keeps things simple. VI tech support is the best I have used to date............. I amlooking forward to the 3.5 release.......

I'm not a Geo guy, but, with the cost of Servers so low..........why would you even consider placng a larger processing monster inside a low end PC that is providing you critical video security? I understand the cost savings, but, I never understand why some try to cut corners on the main recorder processing? I've even seen professional installers use the lowest available PC inorder to increase they proffit which kills me.............. ust my opinion..............if your upgrading hardware.............always aim higher than requirements and you'll be happier.

1/3" 480TVL Sony Ex-view HAD or 1/3" 550 TVL Super
VST_Man replied to FxStuntDriver's topic in Security Cameras
no. resolution is it's own spec and cannot be improved via exview technology. BUT, the lower lux equals more light sensitivity which equals a better night pic. BUT, some camera's, depending on manufacture, can be nice pics or poor pics with grainy type results. Manufactures and advertising are a huge problem in this industry. I'd say 75% of the advertisement out there is not accure and 50% of that is flat out lies. Buyer beware! You either have good sources of supply or you get good at shipping things back until you find a good source of supply. I've seen lowertvl outperform highertvl cameras. low lux cameras with identical specs seem like night & day.that's a punn listing one cameras specs against another is not a good method. search the forum, read the comparrisions, and buy what comes out ontop as required for your need. ps.........ALL camera's have limits. knowing those limits allows a professional to install the right camera for the right location/need -
what type cameras? X10's? those are the cheapO's, right? Did they come with real thin cheap cable that connects via telephone plugs? If YES, I'd guess that those camera's & cables are cheap enough to induce trash into your NV5000 card.................... use RG59 siamese.......and "standard" camera's. Avermedia does not and will never include X10 camera's in it's list becasue they are not manufactured to standard specs. I chaned out many "Cosco" & Sams" type systems and the client alawys likes to save money by leaving those cheap camera's inplace. It never works out becasue they are cheap and they cause issues otherwise overcome with better cables & camera's.

whats the best way to integrate POS system with DVR
VST_Man replied to cctv.dvr's topic in General Digital Discussion
just got in.brain is wiped from today...........and I can't remember the manufacture...........dang. it's a simple box that takes the printer output and overlays it on the video camera...records the pic and text. I'll get back to you on this as I'm beat and need to sleep. twas at a USMC league meeting tonight.............semper -
2 doberman dogs are cheaper and quicker.

whats the best way to integrate POS system with DVR
VST_Man replied to cctv.dvr's topic in General Digital Discussion
start with; - end result & expectations based on POS information collected - bang for buck...do you need high end data collection or just text over video? - POS interface? text over video is basic printer output conversion onto video and can be recorded by any DVR. POS data collection involves integrating a DVR with a manufactures POS software/hardware and can be expensive. I guess my point is, what do you want from POS.the end result? Start there. After you figure that out then you can narrow or expand your DVR/manufacture search. I've installed the text overlay which has proven to be extremely useful. I've kept it simple since most Owners don't have the time to dive into the POS information available.unless they have management to do it for them. -
problem with "protecting" cables is that the client usually don't want it due to T&M costs. Best bang for the buck sells more than the best. sad but true. Unless the Goverment is buying.then it's nothing but the best since the bill is ours.

termination?
-
yes........the DVR manufacture can have cient software that allows for this. on your LAN side you can you just setup seperate ports and IP addresses for each DVR.............then program your router to route them to the WAN...........access via WAN IP and port. manufactures create client software thatt intergrates multiple DVR's into one viewable screen. Some are good and others not.................
-
it maybe still trying to record to the c drive.......go into the setup and make sure that the DVR drive is the only one entered. then, reformat the dvr drive tomake sure that your old dvr software is gone, gone, gone........files and all. then set only one camera to record............................then check it. odd thing about aver, you need to start on the c drive, add the "d" drive, then delete the c drive. you can't initialize a new system to a "d" drive until you go thru the steps above............

500mA or 1A ? Does it really matter?
VST_Man replied to magicsid's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
now if you want to get really serrious..think about paralle & series circuits and the different effect that has on the current & resistance. I never triple up cameras, just bouble up if last resort. I always plan one for one. later........ -
are you dl & viewing? dl and view it.....saves time to dl it and view vice try to review on the run over a connection. I usually dl and go watch TV.come back after 5 minutes and you can zip thru it fine.
-
almost looks like your wega is connected wrong.red, green, blue? does the camera look fine via direct connect? are you connected into the yellow rca jack?
-
stick with b&w if you can.cheaper and will work best. problem is that color bleeds & blurrs under low light.........unless you buy expensive camera's, and even then you have to know which one to buy or you get ripped off. Geo & POS? Almost any DVR will do POS...at a basic text over video. If you are integrating a POS system with hopes of tracking sales, creating data bases, ect. you'll need abetter POS integration like GEO. Video INsight also does POS, along with Avermedia....BUT, build your DVR backwards...starting at the POS system first. Make sure it integrates to the expectations of your client or you'll be in a mess. I use SIMPLE text overlay onto video POS. Keeps track of everything important but I don't like to integrate data bases and deeper POS integration becasue it is in my opinion harder to use for the client. And if you find a decent POS you'll ay mooch-O monies for it. camera's for the bar.....try to get armor dome B&W that you can put down into the face level of the customers..spray them black...not all of them, just a few at the doors and high security areas. The first thing you'll need when something happens is a facial and a camera on the ceiling won't get that good of a pic....get them lower. I installed a Aver system in a sports bar............8 camera's and they want more. No POS yet.......I also used a Audio Authority Video Matrix system t control the 18 HDTV's they have...neat system. ...all TV's are connected via cat5 and hold a 1080i signal........and can be switched to any source (6 sat receivers) at any given time....one or all.via the matrix. cools stuff. beats the composite signal cable pulls......works out to 1000ft. later

Active baluns video and PTZ control
VST_Man replied to ronbo's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
it's common on cat5 do do video, ptz, and power. double up a pair for the ac power, one pair for the ptz, and the 4th for the video. your only concern is the power..........a ptz uses more power/amps so the distance you can push ac becomes less.............ie. a 400mamp B&W camera can go out beyond 1000ft.; color.........less than 1000ft. 1.5amp ptz.maybe 200ft. add a heater................wham slam........even less. if you can power ptz pocally....do it as that will resolve any issues that may cause you problems in the long term. ptz data usually can go well beyond 100ft. and if you power that you can go further. good luck -
r u saying you can't access NV from the internet. local or wan?

I added IR...........works much better. got a super circuits special... you'd think the price would bring quality but that is not true. I purchase a 7706 a few years back and was disappointed in both the daytime and night pics................for the money spent I could have done better......ie. Megapixel and natural motion lighting. buyer beware........advertising and specs are always 50% or less than...

check your power at the camera....my bet is the 150ft. is knockin the voltage down and it is not operating properly underpowered. - use a 28vac supply to conpensate for the loss..........or a adjustable type. - power/wire sized properly to the camera?
-
Yes. I had to make sure the hard drive was "approved" by avermedia AND I had to update the firmware. use port 5005 and you can update remote.........

reccommedations for a high quality stealth ptz on roof
VST_Man replied to prsmith777's topic in Security Cameras
use mini 10X PTZ's vice fixed..one on each corner of your house. they are small and cheaper and you'll have the ability to change your field of view anytime you wish. motion tracking? too much "stuff" for your setup. whata protecting? for fun is not really the answer.......makes no sense. and yep, if you go with one expensive PTZ up top you'll have very restricted views of people & things happening at ground level. ie. you'll most likely have great pictures of tops of heads or nice summer hats/ball caps. consider outdoor audio also. audio brings the other unknown into the "picture" and manytimes fills the evidence gap......thieves talk!
