cheap labor

more is better..............I always tell my clients that becasue you can adjust or rigg things to overcome natural events and/or headlights and you just might miss something important? the cost of storage is cheap enough for you to allow "more" than not. Yes, there are perfect install ocations but there are times you just need to let'er record. ie: swimming pools are very slow and reflective. I just record 24/7 and add more storage. if anyone in the pool experiences a health issue the camera motion most likely won't pick all of it up. ie: same issue you have...............I let it record on motion but keep my setting tight to capute all. more is better

(1) NV5000 & a 4AVEXT card is all you need. Not (2) NV5000's. Waste of money to add a second NV5000 unless your looking for specific fps. I run up to 12 cameras on one NV5000.no issues. fps is fine for basic business & home use. differences? NV5000 is the same as a 6420/6480 in terms of software and capabilities. NV5000 is the low end fps card and from there you go up to the 6480e which is a monster fps card. They all do IP camera's, remote DVR's, audio, and analog which is a plus. examples, I currently have a; - NV5000 with 8 channels. 3 are local analog and 4 are polling 3 remote DVR's (EB1304net's) via internet and LAN - NV6480e running 15 camera's, all analog - EB1403NET's at smaller locations running analog camera's - 1704Hybrid running IP camera's (axis 207MW) from remote locations the bottomline; fps is over-rated for average small biz & home use. don't buy it unless you need it.

Home System – 2 External, 8 Internal - $13,000???
VST_Man replied to xtream2xtreme's topic in System Design
where are u located? national average per camera installed is approx. $1450.00 dollars, as of early last year. Keep in mind that is with "decent" cameras and equipment. - warranty on cameras? DVR? Power Supply? - support in general? Ask for references and call them, possibly vist them to see the installed equipment. you can tell alot by that. also, call the "phone" support number and place a "test" message on it to see if they respond, how long, ect. - ask to demo your actual equipment as quoted......make note of equipment used and ask to make sure that what you see is what you get. - how long in business? - licensed? ask for a copy of it or check with the local gov......hum? - what kinda beer he drinks? light beer drinkers are not manly. just my opinion nice thing about having itinstalled is that you only need to call and complain when it don't work right. bottomline; references and referals are worth a million ....do your homework! I'll do it cheaper and get a vacation out of it at the same time???? -
whoa.............don't snip nothing, you'll loose the warranty. what camera? why can't it be turned off in settings on the camera? cheap camera? "you got what you paid for" most decent cameras sense the network connection and automatically turn off the wireless..............

A new comer knee for IP camera solutions for bank use
VST_Man replied to bingirl's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
be careful not to do all the prep work for them and end up with nothing. "They" submit a RFP (request for proposal), SOW (statement of work), and the site diagrams and you submit a estimate back. I would NOT do thier homework unless you know you have the job. You may feel like your doing your job but infact you are doing someone else's and most likely you'll end up with nothing...unless you gold plate the SOW to the point that they have to use YOU? bandwidth, bandwith, bandwith........................ -
the avermedia video out (composite out) can connect directly to the modulator. avermedia software provides the "matrix" screen and/or a single camera view that rotates to all cameras you program it for. You could simply conect the RG-6 directly to the avernedia video output and connect each TV to the video input, or use your modulators to do the same thing only instered into a channel.................. avermedia video output is just another composite signal very much the same as a single camera output. avermedia just combines multiple cameras into one composite signal that you can insert into anything that accepts a video composite signal.. video amp? yes you can use that but you'll have to have 1 RG-6 per TV at the DVR ...............or connect multiple output to your modulators? unless the RG-6 cable runs are over 100ft. or you are directly feeding multiple TV's, you won't need it.
-
Aver Video output is a single composite that is controlled by the Aver software. You can multiplex it or have it rotate thru the cameras. This composite output can be connected to your E-4200 and viewed on your TV's. I use the quad multi pic and rotate that over 16 cameras..work fine. The whole point of having the E-4200 is so you can modulate the CCTV onto a cable channel, right? I usually run a second RG6 cable to the TV's and place the composite onto that cable. Client has to push the "input" button to view. Nice when you want to split screns or do PIP. And, the least amount of equipment in my installs ensures less problems.

why ip cameras needs optic fiber for long distance?
VST_Man replied to youngbb's topic in System Design
ethernet is limited to 300 some feet and fiber is unlimited..... -
IR devices usually have a sensor on them that do the dusk to dawn thing. 16ft.? I suggest you test it before you mount it. use a long enough cable to move the IR into different positions and allow the DVR to record continious so you can go back and review the best spot for it.
-
I would go with a day night 540tvl ssdnr armor dome and motion lighting.......IR is fine but combining the 2 will disappoint you in a few years as the camera will work and the IR will be bad. I seperate my IR and camera becasue the option to use differnt cameras with differnet IR ensures a decent pic. motion lighting is best since you always get a decent pic under decent lighting.

Mace is a budget supplier and you get what you pay for.

Use Exisiting Infrastructure or Pull New Network?
VST_Man replied to TK's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
seperate network is always best.but, ask "them" to provide you with a network load/usage chart for the system "they" are recommending. It;s easy to say ok but another to prove it....and in our world you should be able to prove the installation of X cameras onto a know network and calculate the impact. I have a client that has fiber everywhere and continues to place everything onto it with the idea that they can't bottleneck it or break it. I cautioned them and advised them t the above. If someone wants to stack things on your network inorder to sell you a product "they" should be able to explain the impact. If they cannot, you'd better be careful since "buyer beware" applies................. -
Thanks for the wish list................ I am considering a Q6600 & a P5B...................not sure I need the Q Rory, why change the speedstep BIOS setting? Should this be a "always do" setting with PC based? thanks again y'all
-
it's an option on the Avermedia install..........IR receiver connects into the USB port and remote is used to controll PC/DVR......got aver.com and you'll find info on it. another way to do it is to get a remote mouse and extend the receiver via usb.did it today...work fine. Aver software has a virtual keyboard...........
-
ok, you replace 1 old tired laptop with 3 high speed ones? funny I used last years laptops today.............cheaper and I don't get overly excited about droping it. AND, more importantly, all my DVR software is still Vista ugly so upgrading anything right now is very wrong for my biz........ain't got time to figure out if it works or not or where to get the right software plugin patch thing............. last years work just fine........maybe I'm getting old? There are lots of great deals for under 500 bucks...........

DOM's? what "model" or "part number" are you talking about? I have purchased the PC types from Aver with DOM's but I did not know you could buy the DOM's seperate from....... Rory.............I hear ya, but, my time is limited to doing what I am very good at. Building a PC takes time...............seems like I need to hire someone to do this? Used to do it but the issue I have with that is the tech keeps changing and I hate trying to make it all fit...and most times it don't.........asomething is always too tight or missing a screw. I understand why it hard to say "use a Dell" since they are also changing. I'm looking for experience from us installers out here to share info. ie. I just told ya Vostros work with Avermedia's......................... does anyone else have sucessful builds they can suggest?

A new comer knee for IP camera solutions for bank use
VST_Man replied to bingirl's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
build a seperate network for it, use poe, get decent IP cams, and select a decent software to record it. axis ip cams are good for indoors. arecont for out. -
what type DVR? network settings have to be assigned to the DVR; ie. static ip assigned within the routers DHCP range, http port assigned to DVR, port forwarding from router to DVR IP, DVR network settings filled in ie. sub net matches router, gateway setting matches router, DNS is not important but fill it in, router DDNS (no-ip.com) setings, and ect. work on the local area network first and then expand that to the wide area network.

Webserver for CCTV
VST_Man replied to mesakorova's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
upgrade the DVR to one that can handle the requirement. typical owner.......wants a 2000 dollar DVR for 200 dollars. trust me, in the long run you'll be happier, owner will be happier, and more importanly, the client will get what they pay for. if you go on the cheap or try to patch it you'll be sorry......... -
build it; Dell Vostro 200 mini tower (not the slim), 2.33 C2D, XP Home, 80 Gb OS drive, 250 Storage, standard video, standard audio; NV5000, 4VIEXT card, 4AUEXT card, and the NVDOSDKIT ki; hereis the RF IR remote http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/remote-controls/wireless-rf-remote-control-extender the above gets you a 8 channel, 4 audio, rf ir controlled PC DVR. You can also go with the EB1304NET, 4 channel budget.but the higher end allows you lots of flex with some bells and whistels......the RF/IR is slick! favorite PTZ? I like the mini 10X day nights...you get a pretty good PTZ for the money spent.........you will also need a data converter for the PTZ that connects to the comm port on your PC that connects to the PTZ control......after that you'll be sitting in your living room viewing your video input from the above DVR and controlling it via your Rf package. I installed the above for a client.............they love it and it works great. he has the vidio output running into a 42" LCD.sweet pic.

hay, I'm moving back to Idaho this Spring...... I have property in Sand Point, 40 acres...........5 miles from Schwitzer!!! I use Schwitzer as my internet relay to the house we have there now, 3 camers....1 PTZ that freezes up every now and then. only way to beat it is too heat it!!! the ptz I have installed is a CHEAP maceOmatic that I tested many moons ago. from day one it has been "ok" but in the winter it becomes frozen.even with the heater in it. budget cam...........I know. I do the video recording here in SC via remote............works great. white out............yep, and then some. but the sun cleans it up everyday! if I had to do it all over again, I'd go with a better PTZ and heater combo........maybe a 10X mini combo.....................
