  1. I'd want this in any contract if it were my money spent; - original equipment warranty. most DVR's are 1 year, cameras are now 2- 5 years. Purchasing without a warranty is a bad choice. - DVR........I'd go with a standalone over a PC Based as they are very competitive now. The Avermedia 6000Pro is worth every penny spent. PC Based is admin intensive/offensive. 640 x 480 minium at 15 fps.....plus number of cameras equals a C2D E6600 minium. - Hybrid integration........both analog & IP cams. put mega pixel cams in locations required, analog in others. Armor domes needed? Low light? - Network Bandwidth requirments. Since the 207MW's are wireless you can build a seperate network from DVR to cameras. User access will be dependant on your up & download speed.......great bargins out there on ISP bandwidth.......... - Storage? Depends on your local policy/requirements. 2 -3 weeks is normal standard. - test drive a DEMO or ask for references.........and then call them all. If they don't offer it..............walk away. make sure you view the same like cameras on the estimate. Log on, view live, audio, review day & night recorded, make a CD, copy file to thumb drive and then try to play on any PC available, ect. - support? ask and then call it to see if they answer the phone. ask the big question; if this Company/person disappears from the face of the earth, how do you get support? - maintenance contract? not big on them, especially if the system is installed properly.........the right equipment runs a long time. You are better off having a set hourly repair rate AFTER the OEM warranty runs out. ie. 1 year you pay nothing, after that you get a fixed 70 an hour rate. - security of the person(s) installing? background checks? who has the passwords? keys? are these individuals checked out and safe to have installing your system? - consider a "lease" program. leases are 100% tax deductable. Purchasing is a 5 year depreciation. Leases carry some added protection incase all goes bad. You can contact a leasing agent and arrange your own options/coverage. presenting to the boss will show him/her that your thinking more than "spend". - on referneces.ask to see if you can visit the install location. look for clean cabling, equipment install & setup, camera install location and setup, overall look of the install. this may surprise you.......great installers take pride in the work they do #1 - equipment #2 - Company installing it............supporting it. I'd love to do your install................this stuff is fun
  2. I would consider using IP mega cams and IP software. You'd be able to use the IP Cam embedded software to allow live real time viewing and audio of video and then have the IP software to store recorded. ie. use Axis 207MW's and setup user permissions on the cameras for live audio & video viewing. Install a Avermedia 6480express to record the video. Yes, you could use the Avermedia to manage users & password also.............. I would NOT allow anyone to access the recorded outside the check writer and/or WRITTEN policy.
  3. I have been playing with them and yes they are nice, but, is there any way to focus them besides using good ole eyes and cell phones? IP cameras do not provide any help to the installers. No monitor output! ten steps forward in quality and 2 steps back in common sense. You'd think that the technology of today would support a monitor port and an electronic software focus meter? And, it seems that the Mega IP cams have more play in the focus adjustment than analog cameras. ie. touch the focus ring on a analog and your pic changes rapidly. IP camera takes a good twist of the lense to get it to change as much.
  4. distance is not the issue. verify the pic at the camera then the DVR....before connected. you'll find you answer................
  5. so true...............I just received several orders of crimps and both bags were different. I've had RG cable show up labeled 59 and it was 6. repaired cameras in new boxes. same camera returned repaired in a new box. returned cameras and no credit applied? why is that?

    Camera for a boat dock.

the system.............. - 4 channel Avermedia 1704net Hybrid OR Video Insight IP Server, & a C2D Dell - Outdoor; Arcont 3130 with enclosures - Indoor; Axis 207MW - Netgear FS108P POE Switch - 54G Linksys Router - no monitor at the DVR...PC's work fine as an option you can "pull" these camera's to a remote location, ie. your house, to protect the video. VI allows you to add more cams without buying another unit.
  7. PC Based....Video Insight Standalone........Avermedia.....................Hybrid your HD is too small.......go minium 500Gb

    Camera for a boat dock.

sorry, I'd go with a Arecont3130 & IR............1 camera will blow away 5 analog cams..............use POE & Video Insight IP Server to capture the motion.
  9. I am interested in POE & IP, BUT, another IP camera is just that until you make it worth my time to use & install. ie. I got this great IP camera, low cost, and here are the software programs that you can use/integrate with it.tested ready to go. If your IP cam is just another IP POE camera that is restricted to your software, it's not appealing to me. I don't have time to figure out some new camera & software package as almost everytime I "bite" at this I get bitten.........I have to buy the camera & use your software....... We are looking for more than a single great camera.....we need a well integrated IP POE camera that is cost effective. market that and you'll get more attention.
  10. This is actually a very BIG thing..................the door just opened for ISP Providers to restrict & block any site they feel is "bad" and not have to worry about a Legal Battle from Larry Flint.........let's see how many ISP's actually start acting responsibly. Having Laws is nice but having an actual Court Ruling that states a Law and backs the writing...............it's called Case law and is like driving a nail into oak....never get it back!
  11. CCTVOne.or do a WEB search......... Whats your plan on powering cameras? You don't mention that. You need to consider the distances and reduce that as much as possible. Check your voltage drop charts for wire used. PTZ will be the hardest to power beyond 100ft. Audio?
  12. check out the 10x mini PTZ's..they are nice and affordable.........since your covering a 100ft. building a 10x is plenty...... what is your climate like? 3 cables? you are talking 3 CAT5 gel filled direct bury? CAT5 with adapters? Baluns are the proper word and ask if they are passive (non-amplified) or active (amplified)........stay with amplified if possible..........but make sure you can power them. as I suggested above, check out the 1704net. It's a Hybrid 4 channel. You maybe able to do a POE with the PTZ's................makes life so much easier. And if you need more channels you can build your own 16 channel Avermedia (6480express with a Dell C2d 2.33 with 20" monitor for around 1200us)

    IP Camera Help Required

the higher the mega pixel the better. I prefer Arecont followed by Axis software..................Video Insight IP Server
  14. use CAT5 gel filled direct bury cable. do not use rg or CAT5 indoor.....gel filled direct bury. 1000ft. goes for around 200. plan on using active baluns plan on installing cameras onto an insulated platform to prevent ground loop. ie. I use 6x6x3 plastic sealed boxes, mount the plastic box first, dome last. weatherproof cables inside plastic box. PTZ will be hard to insulate unless you can get a nonmetal mount. need more info; - longest camera run. list longest to shortest and type of camera at each drop. - how many more cameras will you add later? Via this same 1" underground pipe? - you'll need to power cameras as close to the camera as possible. How many feet to power? this sounds like a storage facility job I did awhile back...........longest camera was at 850ft. Gel filled CAT5 was used........
  15. check out avermedia 1704net...........4 cams, you can stack them 6 cameras to catch the trash monster? I'd lean towards the 3130 with IR. One of these in the right spot and you'll get 90 degreees of detailed pics. CCTVone has a LPR camera that is decent for the $$$

    Arecont 3130 to NAS?

Video Insight IP Server can record the 3130 at native resolution. Works dang good. Also records Axis 207MW at native..........I'm running (2) 207MW's, a 3130, a Pixord 2000, a DCS5300W, and my Office network on one Embarq link. I do see a lag with all cameras logged in but it's not bad. I think that the overall IP camera technology will improve in terms of smarter motion technology that ONLY send video when the pic changes. Yes, MPEG4 only transmits pixel changes BUT there is a gap in the motion detection software..........needs to be smarter in terms of recognition of objects, rain, clouds, spider webs, cars, people, ect. Just think, motion detection software that thinks about the motion and then determines the type of motion before it transmits/records that data. I see a single C2D with video processing per camera on a single CPU platform one day.

    Please explain IR cut filter

I think you meant to say IR pass for the LPR cameras. LPR's with IR work via the IR Pass allowing the reflected IR to pass. IR cut would block the reflected IR and produce no LPR reflection........License Plates use a special reflective paint............IR luminates it and the camera with a IR Pass filter allows the reflected IR in. IR cut filters on Day/Night cameras cut IR during the day and allow IR at night. Color reproduction during the day is harder to reproduce than a simple B&W night pic. also..most IR luminators with black lense covers are actually IR Pass filter glass...they block visible light and pass IR...........no visible LED red glow or "light" from bulb IR a bit confusing...........

    4 CH Wireless 60ft distance

I am an hour South of Charleston. Beaufort & Hilton Head area. Semper...

    4 CH Wireless 60ft distance

the motion detectors (basic alarm detectors or beams that provide switch closure..NO/NC) are hard wired to a wireless relay .http://www.controlanything.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=NCD&Category_Code=Mirrors PTZ presers monitor relay switch. PTZ moves to preset when a motion is tripped. cheaper method.........setup a wireless bridge to the building and then install a 4 or 8 camera analog DVR at the building. access the dvr via the network bridge. http://www.maxstream.net/products/xpress/rf-modem-outdoor-ethernet-bridge.php

    4 CH Wireless 60ft distance

can 1 PTZ cover the entire area without 4 cams? I ask because you can position the PTZ in a great location and then use battery operated wireless motion sensors to trigger the PTZ to move to that location. also take a look at using wireless IP cameras. 60ft. is easy.

    Worked like a charm

typically "they" will start at the util panel and then work in. I always cover the util panel and DVR install locations. And signs are a huge factor. Thieves always "loiter" prior to the breakin and if they see an easy target they hit it. Post the video if you can.always nice to see the look they have once they notice the cams. by the way, you are lucky that you did not walk into it..........bad scene if you did. do you pack a pistola? common household item these days

    outdoor audio

I am looking for a good outdoor audio.............inexpensive & good. If I have to get it with a camera attached to it the camera has to be day/night. suggestions tnx
  24. Just got one and have been testing it. Nice camera. Using a Netgear FS108P Prosafe Switch with POE conected via 125ft. CAT5 to the 3130. Recording done via Video Insight IP Server software. note: - install was simple via Arecont IP Installer software - Video Insight software records the video extremely clean - first IP MegaP camera I tested that handles the blurr problem very well. pretty much allows you to get clean motion, day or night, without the blurr. Arecont states that inorder to do this you may have issues with high gain efefcts (grainy pic). I did not have this problem, or see it. - first IP MegaP camera that is IR sensitive. Used a Supercircuits IR (240ft.) type and got a great pic in a completly dark garage area. Motion under IR was clean and fluid. - had a issue with the blinking of the LED's on the rear of the camera. Most cameras allow you to shut off..have not found that switch yet but will look more into it. LED flashing is a security blunder at night......."here I am" - camera is small, 1/4 the size of a regular "box" type camera. - will test inside a enclosure tonight. wonder if the 2 lenses side by side will cause any issues with view. a single lense inside a enclosure can have the enclosure itself on the pic edges. ????? also, since the camera is smaller the body of it may not allow me to push the lense all the forward in the enclosure? Need to reduce the edge factor mentioned above. - bandwidth? have not measured that yet. - storage? time will tell. Overall I am impressed. Pic is sweet, real sweet. I can see using this cam in large areas. will reduce number of cams and provide a better more useful pic. Tried to upload pics but I am still, six months now, getting a error from the CCTV Server. Not going to try to say it ever again. It's broke Larry! Others have the same problem?
