Wireless/solar camera system
VST_Man replied to bigblueny's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
I have a wireless & solar I am building. 10X mini PTZ (SuperHAD low light), wireless video (5.8Ghz), wireless PTZ control (900Mhz), wireless relay of Motion & alarm switches to control Preset of PTZ (400Mhz), 130watt Koycera, MorningStar Charge Controller, Group 31 Marine Battery & Battery Box. Concept is simple; Integrate Video Insight Server software with wirless video system. I took the basic stationary camera concept and pushed it beyond with the PTZ addition. The wireless relay control uses a wireless 900Mhz radio system, either motion detectors or alarm switching can pass the "alarm" to the Server via 900Mhz and the Video Insight software (Tasks in the new 3.0 release) monitors the "alarm" via the I/O card. ie. install the wireless PTZ camera on a outlying building (building has little or no wiring infrastructure) and then install the relay radio with a magnetic alarm switch on a gate, door, window, ect. Relay radio can handle multiple hard wired connections which can be relayed wireless back to the Server. Server in turn responds to preset positions to video the action. Multiple relay radio's can be installed anywhere. In your application you could possible eliminate several wireless positions by installing PTZ wireless and using relays in monitoring movement for the Server to record. Nice things; Video has approx. 7 miles line of sight. PTZ control is beyond 30 miles. Relay is currently limited to 3000ft. but can be increased via high gain antenna's. Solar: Cost per solar set up was at approx. $1200.00 (panel, charge controller, battery, battery box, pannel pole mount) I plan on welding up my own Battery Box pole mount as the prices for one was crazy....... Radio's; 5.8Ghz Video......I can't tell ya how much but I can pass my source. 900Mhz PTZ control approx. $400.00. 400Mhz Relay approx. $250.00. I am currently working on installing the radio's into the weather proof enclosures. All radio's solar, and PTZ video functionality is completed and proven solid. I just have to put it together now. My requirement for this system comes directly from what you are trying to do. I need to cover large area's that have no wiring available. Wireless saves a ton on cabling expenses and even worse, getting permits to dig takes forever in some area's. I can help you want................. My next "project" is to push a network bridge to this same sloar powered pole so that I can utilize IP camera's and Video Insight's IP Server software. I already know what radio I'll use for that application. Whew....hope this all makes sense. -
COVI...................I am surprised that they don't exploite the multi-screen capability that they have on the other camera's in LPR technology. I guess that when you digitally enlarge it the pix don't play very well? I've got a few COVI's and they are very nice...even thought about using a filter on them to see how they work out. Not to many of my clients want the expensive (bells & whistles) camera's......... thanks for the link

atleast the police work the case.here in SC they won't even go after them even when you give them the credit apps they filled out.showing home addresses, ect. Luck was they were kids and the owners Wife is a Teacher and she noticed one kid selling the stolen property. Cops only then chased him down and the others fell along with him. I provided a CD of the kids in the store 6 hours earlier filling out cell phone credit apps and then the same kids with T-shirts on the face kicking in the door later, obviously wearing the same cloths....duh! Got the car & kids on video also at another resturant down the street as they tossed a brick into the window setting off the alarm (this was the distraction) One kid even looked directly into the backdoor cam to see if it was real. Video, CD's ect. and the Cops told me that the dectives were off for the weekend and that someone might get on it next week. Kids came back a week later and did the same thing again. Sad but true! And then they have the nerve to call for donations........top ten reasons to carry a gun...hum?

Joebo..............WEB site says alot but there are NO examples of actual LPR. Company seems ready to do it but where's the actual caputred video? Just wondering out loud.........

what kind of lense filter do they use? 760 or higher? I've tried the 760 but sem to "see" vehicle lights despite the filter.

generally a "box" camera will outperform most bullets. I've started using WDR armor domes because they are eye appealing and work as good as "box" camera's. Rule of Thumb; budget usually drives need to go with IR over motion lighting. I like to recommend motion lighting as it works well and requires less maintenaince. Better for the customer. And, I do used cheaper IR bullets in smaller area's as they do work well enough for the requirement. Bottom Line; there are many different camera's, IR, DVR's and other technical toys available. If you want to get your $$$$ worth in the long run hire a Professional installer.

did you "find" a card?

panasonic for ip camera? need help
VST_Man replied to griffonsystems's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
is the scale digital? does it have a printer attached? I think I understand what your trying to do; remote the scale readings, right? anyway, consider remoting the digital readings to another readout via wireless. check this out; http://www.maxstream.net Neat radios' that apply to any situation. I use them to relay my PTZ control. Call them and give them your situation. They maybe able to connect your dots for less. Radio's are clean and have rejection technology built into them so you won't get trash. IP camera's? I always liked the Toshiba line..nice and clean. -
been there done that..........go gelfilled CAT5e direct buried. you'll be happy.........protect with PVC if possible.

got horses and installed my own. go with IR & audio if you can as you can listen while you drive and only look when you hear something odd........as the screen will become annoying at night. use RG-59 siamese. wire it to a seperate fuse from the vehicle if possible as you will get noise from the brake light connection............and you should use a noise filter as all vehicles are full of noise on the power lines. I installed a "BNC pass-thru connection point" at the rear of our F350; drilled 2 holes for the BNC "bullet" above the rear tail light inside the bed itself, and also a 2.1mm plug for the power, so that they were protected. I just connect and go. I have a 5" color flat mounted below the radio near the floor. Works pretty good. FYI: - mount the back-up camera ontop of the trailer to keep it out of the way. Protect with a bracket if possible. This will ensure you the best pic. - run the cables under the trailer, it's quick and easy. - bungy cord the trailer cable to the underside of the living compartment, or comonsense, when not in use. - install a radio that has a slide out LCD if practical. We are going to get a new truck this year and it will have this preinstalled. - camera's....I went with decent IP bullets that work fine. IR is great inside the trailer at night. Rear camera works fine also. Total length of ours connected is as long as a semi..........4 horse with living quarters. yee ha!

Bad press for the cops............and a loop hole that the Cops abused. if the Cops are ashamed of thier actions, maybe they need to turn in the badge. They returned the equipment and are still tap dancing the issue on the recording. OBVIOUSLY the detectives did something against the Law and the Higher ups are protecting them. Sad eh?

some camera's don't like PC based video cards. don't know why other than they are usually the exview super had types. super had is no problem. I've heard that exview super hads are nolonger being produced?

Video Insight questions (Tom or Kerry?)
VST_Man replied to ncpilot's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
1. use "logmein" free to do you remote. works great and it's free. enterprise is gear more towards managing multiple Servers vice just one. 2. my understanding is they both get 30 reguardless of group if set to 30. tech support can be more exact as I'm ASSuming it does. 3. yes you are correct. Task manager will do the trick. I currently use the task manager to do all sorts of neat tricks.......PTZ's are fun -
basic are; bigger is better but the camera's spec's overall deliver. ie. you can have a tvl of 540 and a lousy pic, but a 380 tvl with a great pic. resolution only allows more picture size/detail and how the spec's matched up with a decent DVR equal overall pic. if it were me starting I'd try to get live DEMO's if possible. Specs are many times over the top................got that on Idol. but, there are some decent cheap camera's under 100 bucks that would work fine for you, but I'd recommend more expensive camera's for sensitive areas like the register. or, trust someone on this site to help you get what you need. I can, and many others can. good luck

longest run for 12vdc without drop out
VST_Man replied to curtley's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
noticable drop? r u talking tenths or single digit drops? technically, voltage starts to drop in the first 25ft. but for a camera to feel that pain it goes to about 250ft. before you see any issues. ac voltage is best for anything past 250ft. -

http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16882715001 here is another toy I found for figuring out "how much? this little device has explain many questions.........ie...."my electric bill went up 200 bucks after you plugged in that DVR and camera's". I used this to show positive proof that 6 camera's, a monitor, and a DVR use less than a frig.

9100A is also a support nightmare as it is chinese........................but it works. neat little server....I have a cou[ple I toyed with awhile back and they were fun. I just tested a VWS1001 made in Taiwan that worked pretty well, and they are cheap. I'm looking to get them added to the Video Insight IP camera list if I can. I also have a few Pixord servers running and they are fine. Axis work well also........but Pixord's are cheaper.................smae thing in my book so.................. anywho, ip servers work great until you start figuring in the network damage done..more camera's more traffic. plan a seperate network if possible

ir ? am I doing something wrong

what type of dvr? some exview camera's, when connected to different dvr's, product a blue snow effect. I have yet to figure this out but my only answer was that the cams were not working well with the dvr becasue I could take that camera and attach it to another dvr and it was fine. pc based dvr's are effect the most. why? don'r SNOW, but, you can reduce that effect by adjusting the "blue" in video down. one of the best features I would love to see in a dvr is that the video settings could be preset for times of the day. this would allow me to set all my cams for a perfect b&w pic at night by removing "blue" from the pic. you can do it manually but it would be nice to have that as a computer programmed feature. sorry about the punn -
