the problem I have with "us" is that we vote to empower and those empowered vote for us to tax. Everything at that level works pretty good. But, down here at my level I see all sorts of "cash under the table", not reporting of income, ect. and we the people feel that "big brother" is watching too much. It's fair to say that all should pay taxes and there are many who avoid, cheat, lie, and avoid taxes but yet they enjoy the peace and protection afforded by others. personal property taxes are the same. i've NEVER seen actual personal property values assessed...........NEVER. ie. you own a milliondollar home but the assessment is at 500k, not 1 mil. is that a deal or what? But, that person with a mil hose complains about taxes and that Big Brother maybe coming around to look for improvements because like me, I own this BIG piece of property but THEY only have it assessed at 1 acre.....and I have called to update my records but THEY just don't get it. And, my property is assessed way below the market value.again, I'm making out! so what I am really trying to say is, if you are part of the problem and not part of the solution...............shut up or move to Iraq. America is beautiful!

Ok, Blind spots, Camera Choices, Long Distances, OH MY!
VST_Man replied to DeathtoToasters1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I have to ask..... Are you afraid of the dark? I've never seen so many camera's in a house before. How did you get away with that with the Wife? Really, your trying to record everything and anything possible. Even if I was installing this for you I'd never had sold that many camera's to you because it is overkill. Are you in some kind of witness protection plan? Ok, move the camera at the garage/bedroom to the B4 outside position to cover the BZ by the pool, aiming it at the pool. The pool is a must to cover..liability stuff. Potiential blind spots outside windows where no doors are can be cover from inside with a decent WDR camera. cover the room and windows if you can. I'd pull back the outmost camera on the patio corner to the house wall to cover the patio BZ PTZ's? save the money and take a vacation, buy the Wife roses, or give the local school a $500.00 dollar donation. -

PTZ Camera next to bright light
VST_Man replied to k1lla's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
never heard of it................. -
ok, show us the same pic with motion recording. I forgot to mention that mega pixel camera's "usually" can't hang in low light without ghosting issues. I knew you would come back based on your megapixel post(s). Don't get me wrong, mega's have a place and everyone I've tested or seen in low light no light can't perform. And your post is a very nice picture. But I wonder how it performs with no light low light and a person walking past te front of the car.

standalone or PCbased? - standalone stacked is possible if you spend the extra $$$. Personally I don't feel the cost is worhth it because you just can't watch 20 xcamera's at once..hence the reason for recording it. PC based is what I'd do........................but, if the client is nt PCsavy I'd stay with standalone.

H.264 equals more video recorded, options in recording time (motio or 24/7. I've found that the H.264 allows me to set up my clients with 24/7 at 7 fps and a decent quality. megapixels? they work great under premium lighting conditions and over time they will get more efficient for night recording. I'm currently a WDR fan and loving it.

PC Based.Video Insight..........I install and sell them. Extremely easy to operate as it is a Microsoft XPPro platform that has integrated with the Video Insight software developers here in country...........Go VJ120 Stand alone.....ICRealtime....I install and sell them. All standalones have some unique software "mazes" and I found that ICRealtime is more fun than work.........Go Pro. WDR camera's are the shiznit...handle low light and IR very well, and cleanup the picture nicely........ -

Some quick questions...
VST_Man replied to pollito's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
start by setting your resolution & then adjust bytes per frame, frame rate. recommend frame depends on what you are trying to capture. Slight of hand = higher is better. common area's of public area's = 6 - 10 frames grass growing = 1 frame bytes per frame? I use the following; a 320x240 = 25 bytes per frame; a 640x480 = 40 bytes per frame. and adjust for requirements as needed. storage capacity is easy.........after you are happy with the above settings calculate all your camera's 24 hour usage ...multiply by the number of days required and add 20% for overhead......rainy days, snow storms, windy days, ect. I use VideoInsight's Archive program. Works very good. But there are many standalone software program available if you look. ie. delanda is one I can remember. Just do a search on the WEB. -
check for ground loop.............ae all the camera's on the same building and power supply? Grounded or not. Do not ground the camera's.....................plug the power supply into the same strip as the DVR, did you screw a camera into a electrical wire?

I used a expandable cane type pole...........25ft. easy..............you can direct it as you extend it. good for up to 4 cables at once.....with someone on the end guiding it. -
does anyone have a link or source to a 6 pin mini din conversion cable? I have a client that wants to replace a "sams" system with a DVR. The current system is a 4 channel color quad combo SG14C4060-A series, made by Strategic Vista Corp. I need to break out the pins so I can use current camera's on the new DVR. pins are; 1- N.C. 2- Talk 12vdc output 3- Audio output 4- audio input 5- video input 6- dc 12v output thanks for your help..

sounds like you purchased the all in one cheap cable? All in one cables are cheap and don't last even if they work today. Install quality cables if this is the case. Also, need more info on cable length., type.............

Setup of the unit (user rights, TCP/IP setup, ftp upload).......user admin is easy. looks and feels like a regular Microsoft OS envionment. You can admin it local (sitting at the DVR) or via the network. up & down are easy. Firmware upgrades are also simple via the network as ICRealtime support has been very easy to contact via phone and WEB. Motion detection.............have not seen any issues. BUT, I normally run my instaled DVR's 24/7 as the H.264 compression offered allows me to let them record non-stop and still attain my historic video requirements. Remote viewing thru internet (does unit lockup, how good is the search function)....................unit(s) have not locked up at all. search function is a breeze, just put in time frame, date, and it quickly responds. Triplex allows viewing while recording, playback, ect. Log files (alarm log, user log in)...............log file are accurate. logs all accesses. one important note is that ICReal also provides, via firmware, the ability to restrict only IP address you program into the DVR which adds security to your system. alarm........pretty much it happens and it is logged, and you can search via alarm also. Alarm (upload to ftp site)..................not sure what you are asking here. alarm triggered and DVR sends video to a FPT? The DVR has a hard drive in it and the video recorded on it. Uploading any video to any FTP site requires a very reliable and LARGE bandwidth requirement. I use DVR lockboxes................ hope this helps

one problem with most "extreme" low light camera's is that they produce a ghosting effect not displayed in a object standing motionless. Yes, you can get a decent low light pic but will the pic display details? Ghosting wipes details dispite the nice low light. Bottom line; ALWAYS use lighting if you can. Motion, dusk to dawn, ect. I even advise my clients to have a electrician wire a couple in store lights to remain "on" 24/7 so that the camera's have a better picture than depending on low light images. IR is also a great tool in enhancing the pic but the camera/lense has to be IR sensitive/corrected. The best I've seen to date are the new WDR's..combined with IR they produce a very clean pic at night..............no ghosting, no pixeling, just clean. I've seen several crimes on video from my installed systems and there are two distinct types of thieves. One does not care if you video them and the other tries to "mask" it. They all get in and out in under in minute. So for one minute you have to be perfect. The smallest detail will help put the puzzle together. ie. Store was broke into and there was one young man who wore unique clothing during the robbery and also early that week when he was in the store shoping. They were in and out in under 45 seconds but several frames showed his clothing in detail. Reviewed the historic video and there he was with his partners...filling out credit apps! Busted! My point, the lighting was critical in identifying details............one piece of the puzzle fit just right. Sorry if I got off track. Just wanted all to know that low light camera's have some issues.....
