Type of Camera To Capture Faces at Main Door???

does wdr make or break back light problems? -
I did contact them 6 months ago and left my name and number but they did not bother me at all. Rory musta chew them out. Anyway, There is only one person there I am not impressed with, wes. he was basically "busy" when I called and talked to him concerning his letter he sent to me after I purchased it. Nice letter that thanked me and asked me to call with any recs or problems. I called and good ole wes answered. I was rapp'n my recs to him and he was not even listening because I sensed it was all about "sales" for wes so I started calling a Nascar race on the phone line and he never caught it! then I called him out, chewed, and even pointed out his letter to him and he told me that FMsystems uses all feed back.sure they do wes. anyway, I was pissed at this good ole boy. I finally got wes to listen and almost everything I rec'd he had a answer for.........were thought of that but we are not going to do that? for instance; be nice to have a strap or holster so that you can't drop it while on a ladder at 30ft. ie....be nice if the "time out" was longer as the developer who built it never had to operate it on a ladder. ie. provide a "ground loop cable" for the obvious. ie. provide a 75ohm terminator for the obvious. sure they thought of it wes! oh, but the $50 dollar padded case made the cut? just leave in that and it won't get damaged. I did find a "soon to be released" model made overseas and will be available soon at the ISCwest. Has everything the FM systems, but more; PTZ control, video monitor, ruggized and built for the ladder monkey. FMsystems? I am sure that wes is the boss's nephew or related. I LOVE the meter, works as advertised and takes the human factor out. wes? just a good ole boy! made I was a bit harsch, but, he pissed me off.

Anyone Know A Good Live Remote Viewing PC Based DVR?
VST_Man replied to Villanova's topic in General Digital Discussion
where are u located? couple of things..... - make some of the camera's highly visable......hide the others to catch them. junk yard/construction thieves will avoid obvious and still make the attempt to steal. - hide the video storage hard drive, via 15ft. USB cable, wall or desk drawer. Perps like to take the "box" so you can't get them. - improve your lighting in step with installing camera's. - make sure you have a decent/large APC/UPS, min 1000kva - several ways to connect "alarms", but, in the end you'll need the video protected/hid. autodialers work, teleswitches work, emails are a waste of time since they can be slow and you don't monitor 24/7. - motion dection lighting - consider a professional as it will save you time and effort. - I am a Video Insight installer and have had alost a perfect "record" with the product. Very stable and very little problems to overcome. lots more to consider. if you need advice just PM me. I enjoy catching the little creeps. -
I suggest the VJ60 or VJ120 http://www.video-insight.com, ask for Tom. The VideoInsight card/software can do everything and more. multiple posts in this forum. I install them and they are extremely stable and work very well.

facts are IP cams are more of a risk than Servers...............just incase they wanted to compare "risks". your client means well but there is a place in this for you to take a stand and tell them like it is. but, it's thier money and if I were you I'd tell them that the change is thier baby. any probs or issues costs them money for your time.
-
he needs to ask for a PM.............to a specific person. his above post asks openly. not trying to be a stickler but this forum is not a place for salemanship...it's for info and exchanging idea's. last thing I want to do is start a issue over prices because SOMEONE cries foul if they paid more than me, you....whomever. later..............
-
he wants the price of the CM-2..can't give it.rules are rules and it's not fair to FMsystems.............
-
good & bad. good that it proably works. bad that the client will be able to see the poor camera signals from crappy transmission balun's, ect. I've tested the passive balun's with my "meter" and the "quality" of the signal at the head end is terrible............RG59 & active balun's hold up the best. passive will provide a pic but after you compare active to passive I decided never to use passive again............loose too much signal quality..and I'm talking a color burst reading of 5 or 6 on a scale of 50 plus.....that much is gone, yet you get a picture.
-
have you considered USB or network storage? this ends up being another cable within many and IF anybody steals the DVR the "pert" will cut the wires and run....leaving the video behind. you won't have to use "off-site" bandwidth, ect. USB....just get a 15ft. cable and hide it in the desk, wall, ect. NETWORK....fairly simple.ton
-
maybe I missed something............leave the server and use client or gotomypc into it? seems like a lot of money spnet for not when the technology is there to give your client what he wants. does your client understand that they can do EVERYTHING via?
-
PTZ are a start. I'd also use NO/NC switches to PTZ events. There are some pretty good wireless (voice and DTMF combo radio's) activation swicthes available that you could use to wire the alarm positions of the PTZ so that if tripped the PTZ would focus in on the action. If interested let me know and I'll turn you on to the source. This is VHF/UHF equipment.

not realtime, just playing with zoom features, right? mega pixels are cool except I've notice that they have not mastered low light conditions mixed with motion....gets blurry pics..............unless someone has more experience with them and has found one that does better than others? This is kinda like Covi except Covi zooming is done in the camera itself.

dell has the sc830 onsale now

Network camera Install
VST_Man replied to liv4ree's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
1st job...........IP camera's? Axis has some ok cams if you can get the dealer prices. I'd just talk them into a Axis 213 with a outdoor enclosure. Very nice pic. Just add some low lighting and you'll ensure they have one heck of a pic,,,,and the ability to PTZ will be a seller also as they can use it for other thnings. Pricey but worth it. 2nd......network cams & a DVR? huh? I think you mean cams & DVR, right? Anyway, if all indoor I'd contact Rick at KrCCTV on this forum as he does have the equipment you need. Rick's a great guy and goes beyond all to make sure you are happy. -
