is the poor pic at the camera or at the DVR....end of the cable? compare the 2 pics and you'll have more info...............

I'd solder them, heat srink tubing, and use a heat sync to keep the insulation on the wires from melting. telecomm butt splice conectors also work great without all the pain. http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi I'd use the smalled yellow ones.

Must have been the same "kids" that printed up fake parking tickets and had the "perps" send the money to.......................they also raked in the cash until caught. and then there are the teller card copiers.

I've got the R6750 GO Video. http://www.govideo.com/Index.asp?GV=R6750 I also have the TiVo (DTV) connected to it and I record movies directly onto the GoVideo with no problems. DVD's have played back on everything so far, good quality. Recently started to convert VHS to DVD for my Honey and it has been easy.

ok, still small....even after I resized. Fle size is also good. I'm new at this so please forgive my constant emails in trying to get it right. The last pic should have displayed? Oh well. Thanks for the help.

I converted my pics to jpeg (smaller file size) vice the bmp format before I uploaded to ImageShack. Hope these 2 are larger than my previous and easier to view.

ok, I got it in with one mistake.................oh well. I don't know why they are so small but you should get the pics ok. I live in the country with no or little lighting..........one pole light in the barb yard.everything else is usually pitch black. They are actually better in a larger pic, and some above that look dark are really better in a larger format.don't know why they turned out darker on the night shots. Also, it's obvious that IR reflection makes a huge difference. ie...when the ir has little to reflect it shows less. The 3103 above is a cheap color camera but it shows a decent night pic because it has lots to reflect off of. The HIM-598 overlooking the corral which is 30 ft. away has nothing else to reflect off of and the resulting pic shows that. Anywho, enjoy and don't be so critical as most of these camera's are and have been my test bed camera's. An ongoing project.

I was where you are and never tried it, but was going to until I figured out that I could remote the Hard Drive via USB cable (80ft.) to a hidden location. USB cables can carry the signal without any loss or noticable reduction in data transfer. And, another cable going into the attic is just that. A thief or otherwise would spend hours location the "Video evidence". Not dure if a standaolne can do USB storage but I am a PC Based (VideoInsight) guy. Works great. My guess on the safe is it would be too hot, no air flow. You would have to improve that. Why not install a DVR lockable enclosure?

remove my last please.................. I tried but can't get it. Can someone give me some help on how to input a IMG into this forum. In fact, is there a beginers guide for "How to" on this WEB site? I guess it would help fat fingers guys like me learn before I waste everyones time. tnx

try different channels on the wireless side of the programing. Some channels are more noisier at certain times than others. Default is usually channel 6..........change them. Move the laptop closer to the hub and see if the problem still happens. And, are both the laptop and hub update to the latest greatest firmware? If not, get it updated.

nice pics......is it no light like I have here in the country? kind where you'd walk into a tree? or are you residential/sub? I see light in #1 & #2, moonlight? Anyway, unless there is IR a camera "needs" light to produce a pic right? do you have the ability to list fps, resolution size, and bytes per frame? That would be nice also. And a daylight to compare to would also be neat. I need to figure out how to post pics. I guess I need a ftp right? PM me on the "How to" and I'll post some.

POWER and VIDEO over Cat-5...Good, Bad, Ugly?
VST_Man replied to kandcorp's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
lots of different Baluns out there.sometimes they work ok, most times not. I do both but always go with RG siamese first and only to CAT5 Baluns when it calls for it. Power for that one is most likely 12VDC. If you are running AC voltage, get a balun without any power and screw connections. Then connect your power to a spare pair in the CAT5 cable. But, best way to do it is to power the camera at the building/location and keep power off the UTP. Avoids noisy pics. I also use a small UPS to power up cameras in seperate buildings to ensure the video stays running during power outages. Runs under 200ft I always run RG siamese. -
newbie trying to set up CCTV as webcam

Buy a IP9100....do a WEB search. It's a small 4 cam video server the size of a pack of "fags". It will work as a live WEB Server as you want. PM me if you want it from me as I have 2 in the closet from my "testing" days. They work, and for a cost they are pretty darn cute, but not sexy. -
see if there are any spare telephone lines between buildings and use them for the video?

"Contractor Pak" Outdoor Cams....Most complete/bes
VST_Man replied to smarty's topic in Security Cameras
you will want to also terminate your internet connection and network connection in the same room as your DVR, or at a minium run a network cable for the DVR to internet hub connection. And, any cables for TV's/monitors you want connected should also be run. And consider modulating onto cable channel. Your comment on being able to recoginze a licesnse plate/face will be challenged in your ability to place the camera properly. Also, unless you go with a license plate camera you'll have issues with that....those camera's are typically 2k on up. Facial recognition camera's are also expensive but the true combination will be in the camera and the DVR you select to do the recording. Good luck. -

Cat 5 (Twisted Pair) vs RG cabling
VST_Man replied to chewingyu's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
quoting a CAT5 system compared to a RG system can make or break a deal. CAT5 and baluns are more expensive to purchase/install/support. I can run a 100ft siamese RG for nest to nothing and make more on the labor. CAT5? I just dipped into thelabor if I want to be competitive. But, thanks for the info................I understand it is better but I just can't afford to quote/install CAT5 on a regular basis. example; client wanted CAT5. I quoted him a decent CAT5 system. He told me I was crazy on the price of the NVT baluns. Client purchased his own. Now that system has interferance problems, poor video quality, and outages on thos camera's. I guess I should have stated that if you buy the best balun and CAT5 associated equipment you'll be fine. I use NVT and get great pics, but the cost associated to NVT is higher that average customer wants to spend, and competitors are going to kill me with RG. -
yes, my bust..9100ex. pretty good camera. confused my numbers with a ip9100 4 camera chinese web sever.sorry. did not know the numbix was gone..............dealers only? no biggie because that nubix is sold by others under different models.just look for the specs and the pic of the front & rear and you'll find it. I don't know where to find it and don't have time right now....... I can hook you up with a look at this camera if you need it. Just PM me and I'll geive you a ip address and login........
-
it will work BUT it is not good stuff. it is more vunerable to noise, interferance, and can stretch/break easily. along time ago I started out with that thin stuff and ended up repulling all of it.........lesson learned was spend the money on a reel of siamese RG, buy connectors, and a crimper and do it right the first time. Also, the thin stuff will most likely have a higher signal loss/voltage drop because it is thin wire guage. 50ft. is not a a long shot but I never install it again. The ONLY time I use it is when I need to hang a camera quick for serucity reasons, and then I run it on the floor, over counters, and hallways until I get time to go in and run the RG. it will work but it will get ya sooner or later. There is a reason why us installers DON't buy it/use it.
-
sounds like the cheap stuff. it will work but eventually give you rpoblems.

Cat 5 (Twisted Pair) vs RG cabling
VST_Man replied to chewingyu's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
yes. NVT is the better product and more expensive. Balun's are little adapters that convert the BNC/video/audio/power to the CAT5 cable. You need to of them, one at each end. There are active (powered/amplified) and passive (no prower/amplification) Active (NVT) are better and more reliable. And there are tons of different models/manufactures of Balun's. Cheap ones ($20.00) and expensive ($100 on up) The Baluns (active and passive)come with several options; convert video only, video & audio only, video, audio & power, and then some have claims to reducing "noise" and ground loops issues. active is pretty much safe to say it will reduce or iliminate noise and ground loop, and allow you to adjust the video gain. tick with NVT as it is proven and worth it.BUT, I always try to go with RG first as it eliminates the need/problems associated with CAT5. Not that one is better than the other, I just think if I can save money on an install by using RG then I do....and it is easier to maintain over time. RG = short runs....200ft or less CAT5 = long runs.........beyond 200ft & special applications
