maybe. have a sheet metal shop build you some nice boltable sheilds for the camera housings so that they can withstand the beatings. cut the holes just right and install. it won't look great but they will not get knocked down.
-
No, I have not tried it but it is do-able. The client pays the fee anyway so if they want to soar they can write the check. Its just another account added and the only show stopper is the availibility of spare pairs.
-
why not get more than one account and split the feeds?

surface mount......use 1/8 inch plywood, cut to size of the dome, drill a 3/4 hole in the middle, place wood on the roof side of the tile. provides support, nice screw hold, and is not heavy. flush mount.........I don't install unless the client asks, then I charge more for labor to do it. messy and a pain to do........and if the model you just installed is discontinued, and it will be, you have to find a replacement for that hole, replace the tile, ect.

1>AC travels further than DC with less loss. You can't power a 1000ft. run with DC but can with AC. note:AC comes in both 24 &28 vac. Guess which one you use for the 1000 ft. run? 28vac because you anticipate line loss that will be "forgiven" by the 4vac plus up. Use 24vac for runs shorter than 500ft. DC for 200ft or less. 2>difference is what requirement you have to fill. I use bullets in specific places I woud not use a "standard" based on need. 3>I disagree with......PC based vs. standalone; they are both made from the same "parts". Both are stable in terms of hardware. PC Based is "prone" to all of the PC type issues (virus, spyware, the "know it all operator") satndalone's can't be messed up in terms of software. BUT, PC Based systems have ALL the bells and whistles, are easily upgraded when better software hits the streets, and are well suited to be configured to the operators needs. The secret is to use a PC Based system for ONLY video security. I have clients ALWAYS trying to surf the net on them, watch DVD movies, play music, ect. Once they start using them as personal PC's they gat all screwed up. Best way is to lock out the operator as much as possible, ie.....disable everything you can, limit access, and put a camera on the server to keep an eye on the "geeks". Like I stated, both are very stable......and I have the data to prove it. Problem is the operators out there mess with them and then they become junk quick. 4> shop til you drop....... 5>agree..............but you can clean the lenses to reduce the halo effect. Plus, some bullets come with plastic lense covers.............hard to reduce the ring. 6>I've been using Linksys and have had no problems with lock-up or reboot issues...............as long as I keep it updated with the latest firmware. I'm currently testing a "gaming" Gigabite router by Dlink which has been, so far, solid and fast. The gamer is nice because I can assign priority to bandwidth to the Video Server. $120 The CCTV world is full of tools (equipment). You have to know which one to use on the right project to get the results you want for the cash you have. Keep reading, asking, and then buy. If you don't have the time, hire a pro to consult and install.

Viewing my DVR from the internet which is connect to ADSL
VST_Man replied to patt's topic in Computers/Networking
it's in win xp. you schedule a program to run, certain days ×. I used to schedule internet explorer to run every 2 hours which automatically enguaged the autodialer....therefore connecting the server for me at specific times so I could view it. no-ip was already running so it updated my IP and I then had a way into the server. kinda "clunky" to do but when I only had dial-up and did not want to tie up the phone while I was gone it worked ok.............. -
Gaming router that is wireless and bandwith managable. any comments on it. WEB forums are pretty good on it. I've ordered one to test on my video system to see if it will allow me to assign/limit bandwith via priority. I want to give my video port pri over everything else so that the port is not bottle necked. from what I read, I can do this and more. comments?

Viewing my DVR from the internet which is connect to ADSL
VST_Man replied to patt's topic in Computers/Networking
dial-up? if you are trying to view it while you are out you'll have a problem, maybe...........I used to do the dial-up using scheduler to connect the modem and then had the no-ip updated right after. Scheduler will allow for the starting and stopping of at specific times so you can plan to view. just thinking outloud........ -
I am looking for a alternate method of storing video. currently using network enclosures with no big issues. Does anyone have experience with external Firewire enclosures? - distance is restricted to 6ft? How far can you push it? - locally power or power via the data cable itself. seems there are all sorts of different models out there as far as power? ie. ac adapter, ps2 cable, usb cable. what I am looking for is a 1394 external storage enclosure that is power from the server and is extended further than 6ft if possible.
-
ok, any decent recommendations on the enclosure? and, is the speed good enough......
-
300gb - 400
-
CPU? RAM? operating sys?
-
charge the client 50 an hour and pay herm 10.....
-
quick and easy.....use a 25ft. tape measure, works great on false ceilings and also on eves......................
-
I'd go with domes on the interior. Neater and easier to clean. Why not mount camera's on the outside under eves vice inside garage looking out? bullets w/ir are my first choice on outdoor install IF the lighting sucks AND cannot be improved. Imporving lighting (motion type) is the cheapest and will provide a better picture if looked at from a cost perspective. If you can get the lighting improved I'd go with some nice low light camera's that have a mechanical filter.

ok, why no vote?

Opinions On This Ambush Wide Dynamic True Day Night Dome

commercial? advertisement for? hummmmm? BUT, no phone number.... -
ground ONLY the main power supply and DVR. Do not ground the camera's. Potiential for Ground Loops increases if you do. Everything you connect and power should be tied back into the same APC/UPS. Some power supplies come with only a 2 prong, change it out to a 3 and make sure it is grounded properly......camera's are grounded via the connector shell and braded cable, back to the DVR. you can save time by pulling the camera down and connecting it all in the room that the DVR is in. unroll enough cable to simulate the cable distance. ac/dc.....if it's not clear that it does both, get ahold of the specs and check or list the model number here and I'll tell ya if........do not guess.

Infrared illuminators and IR cameras
VST_Man replied to bedece's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
illuminators work but you need to run a seperate power line for them. Floods? never used them..........................illunimators, good ones, cost a good penny so be prepared to spend in excess of 500 each for a low end and 1500 and higher for the "sweet" type. I suggest looking at installing motion lighting. cost and maintenance will be cheaper. any type camera/lense. no, you need to go with a low light, high res. not all camera's "see" ir. -
make sure the camera is both 12vdc and 24vac. not all camer's are. check the spec sheet, dip switches. color problem; check the connectrs, make sure they are perfect. run a second cable on the ground to eliminate a cable problem. reason why you are not viewing in color is the bandwidth is not being proberly passed.....cable or connector problem. video & monito; monitor is for a seperate monitor. video is for the DVR/cable.

difference is I am listing/recommending at NO profit or gain and I made it very clear that my info was my opinion. Spytown? I've busted on Spytown in a few threads based on real life stuff, and I've said some good things. If this "Spytown" wants to jump in and try to make things right.....so be it. But I am sure that others here may want Spytown to remain in a bad light so that they can profit? may, maybe not.but, who really cares outside the bankrollers. you can make rules that keep us from doing all sorts of exchanging of information to the point that almost everything will "offend" someone. ....and then you'll have a huge mess of posts pointing fingers at violators who did this and that............ this forum should remain open so that the exchange of idea's and information is flowing. This forum is NOT a hunting ground for customers, it is not owned by one set of ideals, it is a place to exchange information. If there is anybody out there that feels phone numbers are bad for the forum, the complainers that is, I'd suggest that THEY may have an adgenda themselves? I'm not affraid of competing, I do not care who lists phone numbers, web sites, or suggests specific camera's. That's why this forum is here. ok, my flak is on, fire for effect ps...too late...it's trashed

send it back for a replacement no matter what. You may get it running today but you will have more problems down the road...........damaged goods are damaged goods.

nothing should happen. camera should be ok at that temp. yea, it is cold but they still work.......check the specs to make sure, they usually put down the operating temps. oh, if it does stop working it's too cold out
