Need help for CCTV settings for max storage

Thank you for your reply! I have lowered to D1 @ 15 fps and hopes that it help. I've learn that my camera unit also has HD1. Would that also help? What resolution is HD1? These are all the drop down settings I have Resolution: D1 - HD1 - 2CIF - CIF - QCIF Bit Rate Type : CBR - VBR Currently using D1 @ 15 fps CBR EDIT: Just found this thread with a discussion of the resolutions. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=27201 I never realize these resolutions were so low. I may have to check my camera system again. I wonder if its recording via Motion Detect or constant
  2. I purchased a QVIS Apollo HD PRO 16ch awhile back for my convenience store. I currently have 4tb of harddrive space installed in it. I hooked everything up and ran everything as default which currently runs 24/7 7 days a week. The settings(default when I bought it) are currently D1 30FPS on all 16 channel and records up to 26 days before being over-written. Can anyone help me figure out what is the best setting to maximize my storage without having to buy more harddrive space. Should I lower it to CIF and at what FPS should I set it to? I don't know much about the difference between CIF or D1. I believe there is even lower quality than these 2 but I don't know if those would be acceptable or not. I only need it for insurance against people who may go around tripping for fraud. Before I was using a Netrome Blackbox security and it kept up to half a year with just 160gb of storage.
