thanks hey for replying I understand what you mean, everything going straight to DVR managed directly from there.but that would be a wired solution? i havent done a relay switch before could you give me an example of a relay that goes connectted to a dvr or encoder? but if the camera is in the shed away from the house say a large cattle shed. you got lights , distance away from the house etc. so what am looking is a setup that is completely wireless but yet goes towards the dvr for control or Iphone or ipad. Understand the ip encoders can do this.do you mean the ipad or iphone has its own app for the encoder itself rather than the dvr but yet the video can be set up to go towards the dvr. id be be happy with that kind of set up. if the app has its relay switch options and control ptz with the video and yet i can set the video wirelessly towards the dvr? would that work?
-
i guess ip encoder and output through wireless access point would work for this. but what can i use for analogue method?
-
cheap way isnt a quality way though. isnt there encoders with IO control (lights)plus rs485 control for the ptz need it wireless looking for equipment though that would suit this.

better BNC colour and crisp display output on apollo HD than the Zeus? It may be worth it if theres better compression for recording quality.

Hi all , havent been on here quite a while as I havent been doing cctv for a while , last time I had great help here on a job,(poor video quality issues regarding power) thanks for your helps guys on this. I have recently bought a Zeus 8 DVR quite impressed with it and has mac pss support yay! intend to buy these for more jobs on as I have a few on. want to ask whats the difference between zeus models and and apollo HD models. what I am after is D1 recording on every channel at 7fps with all the features such as alarm triggers like movement then dvr switches to that channel in full screen , or triggers a warning light via PIR that kind of thing anyway is it the only difference is HDMI display between the two? theres quite a cost difference on these two. hope your all well too. cctvlad.

impressed with this app bit slow to start up but its all there. still getting to grips with the motion detect playback want to pinpoint it more doesnt help when customer only has a 500k connection performs well though.

Hi there Im looking for some sound advice on setting up an independent ptz with a tower that is battery run with added extras like flood LEDS and PIRs and DVR. but no idea what size of a battery that i need to install im looking for the system to run on a week on week basis with battery changeovers once a week. would this be possible with an UPS? what am trying to do is make an isolated security cctv unit run off a battery. would appriecate any help guys. `

I already have the controller, ptz transmitter and receiver and ptz camera. I need to work out the amp load first. want to pack as much in as possible with as low current I can and 3g router, dvr, wireless LOS for local use. transmitters ptz, PIR etc my thoughts are only at baby stage yet. my budget will 1.5k max only thing is my ptz transmitters are 5v.....hm
-
im sure you can use ptz over the IP connection through the DVR , what i would want the ptz to do is a dual role with locally say up to a mile rs485 transmitters for local use of ptz control as well as the IP control. however at night I don't want to depend on tours but rather sensor trigger and camera would move that point and alarm alert at the same time so that I would be able to go on computer to see whats happening then take control at that point. tours 24/7 would be nuts on the battery but adding cameras extra static cameras wouldn't do any harm on the power too much. looking at avermedia low power dvrs ptz camera i have an e-bay one that i can use to test with at the moment want my own prototype to work first before going higher spec of a camera. cctvlad

Thanks for replies guys , think the marine batteries is a good bet for me, up to 100Ah say a couple of of them. haven't worked out the amperage per hour yet though theres 144 hrs in a week would have to calculate it against that. Like soundy says putting high capacity batteries running say like a week then use generator to charge them up to nominal levels. would need to research on reading charging levels like a meter of some kind to see battery levels. wonder if theres such a remote application/equipment that can read battery levels so can watch them from home. then Id know I would need to be on site to charge by generator. think solar/wind power would be an expensive option and not feasible but one generator to charge multiple cctv units at different sites is cheaper in the long run. once Ive got the batteries i would have to work out how to connect them all whats the best way to connect all the unit some kind of patch board? and would the batteries come out with a smooth 12v output? cctvlad

solar power sounds a good solution for a trickle charge but is it effective and will it keep power levels nominal is my thinking. weather in uk and ireland isnt great what about wind? is that stronger than solar?
-
Hi Soundy Hows it goin yeah undertstand have to get the spec list then calculate the total current draw for the size of the battery dont know how to calculate that though. is there not a way to keep it running with one or two UPS batteries then charge once a week? also I was thinking that Illuminators would be a big power draw cant they be activated by PIR movement or switch via application rather than on all the time. As probably know its a stand alone mobile cctv unit and its been done many years ago but want to design my own. ptz camera long range wireless dvr pirs LED flood lights etc

its only a prototype stage for me but keen to keep it low tech to start with probably 3k

Hi there, I have a Avtech KPD674 dvr I want to have ptz control with this dvr but it has a DSUB 9 pin output only for the ptz control. I bought a dsub 9 pin out ptz adapter for this but it still doesn't work. does it need voltage input as well if so what voltage? the adapter is attached for your viewing hope to have some help on this. the communication is at rs485 as well. Thanks for any help

Hi folks I have a geovision gv-650 12cam with 8cam dsp card have a problems with the video. one is that when i switch on the dsp card at night a multicoloured spots/noise overlay the video what causes this?? cant get rid of it.. its annoyin like! the other thing is thin white rolling bands on all cameras not noticeable during the day but at night time its pretty bad and suspect bad powersupply, i have a 9 port box powersupply any way of improving it with it with this or should i ask for a replacement?? would appriecate any help guys.
-
hows it goin had a long day did a SAN install (Servers) had a damn long day yes on a easter monday! read the posts this morning soundy yeah I did a right few cctv installs with baluns with good results. thing is this is the first one with a shared powersupply with baluns and previous were shorter runs with coax so guaranteed a success first time round. but 24vac would be great for long runs im starting to do farms andthey need quite long runs never liked wireless as the price is too high and you cant transmit all 4 channels down down one transmitter and receiver IP based servers do well on that though. so im gonna spec up some power regulated cameras for long runs shorter runs I wouldn't need to worry too much as long the camera is mid range are you familiar with HQ1 chipset on cameras? thats the ones i have its supposed to supersede the sony HAD. remember i said about piping down the cameras from the dvr to the router 60 ft run well a good to fair transmission is about 100ft but no idea what is the maximum length per run is for coax. well at the end of it all Im going to use the shared PSU for another job with shorter run. and get some regulated powersupplies only need 2 more at the moment. about the coloured spots need to be sure to aim to avoid that in a new dvr or future installs would like some idea what compression is more susceptible to it. or what camera spec is vulnerable to it. catch you later from sunny NI
-
thanks lad makes a lot of sense to me will try separate power supplies. so these 12v shared powersupplies are only good for cameras with regulated power in them?? yes at the junction dvr would be perfect but still need that 60ft run. the other way i could do is put the dvr at the junction and network the pc to the router at the end of the cctv run so i can pick it up at the router for IP access. something too moot. yeah learnin a bit here. great stuff thanks dudes did u come across this when in your first installs say first 10 ish.

forgot to ask where do i go from here?? cctvlad

ta for the info soundy! right Ive some answers had a tv at dvr end and at the junction. Results are rg59 junction end with shared PSU no lines with expected picture quality (how to improve it I don't know might be the limitation of the camera itself). DVR end has lines this is baluned with cat5e Night vision is good at both ends without any coloured spots at such soundy I think your right about the compression issues. so the dsp card wont do any good to me? what kind of compression do I need to look for to sort that. so my problem seems to be at junction to dvr end but I would need to test day time also to confirm if so would individual powersupplies still be a fix? and rory would i need still need to remove one by one to isolate the problem camera even though I get a good picture on all at junction rg59? Ive experienced high end shared common ground cameras are at good quality as well.(around £150 plus.) but I do understand that cameras with regulated power is the best option for quality and will aim for that with future customers. im glad Ive found some answers to this and cheers to you fellas cctvlad
-
heh i like the blue flashing light fella! yes i was thinking of trying that using a tv from the dvr end. see what happens. say removing one by one works and one camera is off what i do then? does this mean individual transformers must be applied? cctvlad
-
Hi soundy thanks for the reply, yeah the cameras are what you say mid range 12v with common ground.the psu is 9 way 10amp. when i try one camera per powersupply no lines exist. so do you reckon that the psu is at fault or its not right for that kind of design. active baluns are expensive so im not going down that road unless theres some in my price range say 15 pounds so my options would be individual psu for each camera? active baluns keep away from cameras with shared common ground. the other thing i worry about is the coloured spots(dsp noise) presumedly would be fixed with active baluns what do ye know about ground loop isolators? I am wanting to get future cctv installs with better quality output. thanks for the sound advice cctvlad

hey guys thanks for the reply wasnt expecting any! will take it from the top ive got my cameras and psu from cctvdirect uk they are the twilight IR model and psu is a 9 way 10amp model firstly the set up is at a midpoint where power is short from for the cameras and with rg59 to the cameras not all power wires are connected up yet as not all cameras are finished yet and i have connected 3 IR cameras to date. one camera is at 25 ft away and the other 2 is like about max 7 ft away and power is supplied at the same distance. HOWEVER the mid point serves as a junction to the computer 60 ft away using brand new baluns and cat5e. now to the cards the DSP card itself crashes out the system a lot and it prevents video i have disabled the dsp card for now and its working fine but the lines still are strongly appearing but having tried another powersupply invidually theres no lines. the other thing is i want to reduce noise through that. i will order a replacement but still worry about the coloured spots if i get a new machine through realtime dsp. the cards are 5 years old right enough.and recording is leaving a trail in movement as well. the other thing is when sun goes past the cameras theres a polished shine on the lens....never seen this before. these cameras come highly rated at its price of 70 quid each. wiring is all bundled together in trunking power and video and cat5e 60ft is bundled together in another piping without power feeds. any help greatly appriecated. p.s what would cause ground loops ive nothing connected to metal?? cctvlad.

Anyone not want to give thier expert view on my problems??

I recently bought a PTZ LED Camera with 27x zoom I have a problem with the camera at night time full zoom back it comes up with a good picture but it sees dust particles too well its as if its snowing!! but however the camera has a very bright centre zone and its comes up as a bright circle BUT however if I zoom in more or farther out the picture on the object or the area is very good at night even at 200m away. so what you reckon I should do with that snowy picture? is it because theres no cut filter in it? all the best ye all.

Hi guys thanks for the good replies im still getting no answers for getting the avtech dsub ptz to work. i have bought a controller so i will change settings around to get it to work. perhaps the baud rate would need to be upped on the camera or change protocol around. this is a different set up compared to my other post elsewhere in the forum. the camera itself is a basic Ebay ptz camera (no leds) it works fine with a joystick controller though but its getting it to work with the dvr so it can be controlled by Iphone app. srsmith the long bit that you refer to is a 232 to 485 convertor the i had this too but i soon realised that the avtech dsub output is already rs485 so just the adapter is needed but i think the adapter itself isn't the right pinout for it and im looking for the right set up perhaps a solderable dsub and solder the wires onto 8 and 9 pinout as Leohuangdi says. but first will check camera config and dvr matchup first. will let you know how i get on fellas.
