Thanks for the info guys made a lot of sense to me the customer is happy with the camera as it is. IR is definitely 150m - 200m range obviously the range of the zoom isn't. but across the fields i can see as far with it I got it from ebay the LED PTZ model something like this camera. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/27x-CCTV-Sony-1-4-CCD-480TVL-PTZ-Dome-Camera-IR-LEDs-/350223000414?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item518aeae35e the problems im having with it now is that saving the presets on the DVR and its FUHO dvr it wont save or auto tour the presets but it does autoscan.and i also cant get into the camera menu system either I bought a dedicated controller (sunkwang ar11) it works with Pelco D at 4800 saves presets and you have to manually tell it to go the presets but I want an auto sequence of that presets and i followed the manual of the controller to auto sequence it wont happen for me or get into he camera menu. is it to do with the baud rate and protocol should i change it or up it to 9600?? any help guys?? Good forum by the way. id like to know good models of LED Ptz's catch you later

I agree with both of you there on the tunnel vision and inbuilt IR. because it is a powerful IR near the lens its going to be like this regardless of what i can do to improve the image on full back zoom. when the zoom on the object or area on a smaller scale the picture is impressive for its distance .eg cars like about 100 m away in pitch black. i think we can do without worrying about he snowy picture if the presets on the PTZ camera is set carefully at night to cover the relevant areas. the other problem I have is a dvr which controls the camera but wont save and autotour the presets. its a FUHO DVR at telco d . and how the feck do i turn off this auto spelling lol.

hello this is my first post here becuase im in need of some help looks like a great big forum nice corner to be in. I have a geovision gv-650 16 port card along with a dsp realtime card 16 port too. now i have a couple of problems which is pretty silly in terms of software I have been using v8.2 for a good while with dsp tv output to a 32 inch flat screen. But due to needing to upgrade to v8.3 or the very latest version 8.3.2 to support live view on the iphone with geovision new iphone app. it works well. BUT it says that "dsp card is no longer supported on this version" so my dsp card cant be used in the newer version surely this can be fixed? would appriecate any help (im from ireland btw)

Hi all , I have purchased a pair of wireless rs485 modules for the control of a ptz 100 feet away it has to be wireless. But my problem is that the DVR has ptz control at RS232 communication. It looks like I need a converter or something . any tips on how to do this ?? I have seen serial adapters for sale but need like a wire interface rather than a plug as im not using a pc based DVR Ryan

I have an 16ch Avermedia DVR SEB series. So far I have had the Iphone connect network wise but comes up blank or the program crashes on the iphone. It is connectable by IP... other posts say that i have to check the handiviewer box in dvr settings but i cant see this setting in the DVR itself. other post have mentioned that it does not save connection settings and the user would have to re do it every time they want to connect... this would not make sense it is it true? is there an iphone app that would be compatible with most DVRs or are they brand specific? appreciate any help

only thing is that iphone works ok with v8.3 but not v8.2 and vice versa with dsp spot monitor.
-
understood just annoyin when you upgrade to 8.3 from 8.2 then you cant use dsp card then 8.2 u cant use iphone but can use dsp card. what is the solution to this. its pretty stupid to leave out support for dsp cards as it is a 16ch realtime card. ive seen the iphone beeing used with geovision its way cool but i need a winning solution. will contact geovision at some point

hey there ive set up a ptz camera with geovision software, but the customer wants to be able to autotrack the vechles coming into the yard but as i understand i would need the right camera for object tracking and not a standard ptz cam but however i can set a preset on alarm trigger to move to a certain way we do have other cams on the yard that can act as a motion sensor am i right in saying this. even though the manual has specific way of telling you how do this but is there a more comprehensive way of understanding the process. do these inputs by the I/O application need motion sensors wired in or can the cameras act as a motion sensor.? then i can get presets to move on motion trigger. any help would be great

Hello all I have recently purchased a IP9100A Plus Video Server from a distributor. I have a couple of questions. 1. When the Server is in Round Robin Mode the 4 channel Split screen jumps up and down a very frequently. Like a black bar up and down thescreen. However when it is in fixed source mode it is 100 percent and that’s only with one camera at a time. How do I solve this? Have also another problem when I connect the server by an IP DVR software avermedia 3000 I can see the all four cameras but they change so fast and cant get the scan rate to slow down so I can see them. Do you have any suggestions on this one? cctvlad thank ye lads

right heres the story.. i have pc with a tv out enabled on it the customer wants to see the computer on the televison in the house. so i wired up the existing cat5 between the office and the house which acts as a telephone extenstion and is being used for broadband internet. now at the cat5 there was a spare twisted pair that i could use to connect a balun at each end the tv out works 100 percent. the thing is when i connect the tv out on the line. it knocks off the customers internet connection, then when i disconnect the tv out from the pc the internet comes back on. im assuming this is due to high noise on the line or the voltage from the tv out that is causing this. my question is how I reduce the noise so that both will work properly. its a toughie but if anyone has an answer it would be cool. thanks lads

i have a toughie question about tv out.
cctvlad replied to cctvlad's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
try not to use coax asit is expensive , athough in short situations it is ok. i use one cat5 and use the twisted pairs off ontoeach camera but if i run 12v on oneof the twisted pair on the same cable will that be a nono??? i have done it before and the picture was distorted on a balun hub but is this not the way to do it ? cctvlad -

ah never worry the customer has agreed to another cable run so alls well thats ends well. allthough i have another job on an got a 100 foot run for 4 cams so will use utp for that will get 4 port balun hubs but if i run 12v power thru them will that distort the picture?? any of you lads know where i can get baluns cheap?? im in ireland remember. cctv lad -

another cable run might just be the right job wireless is no good cos of the bad transmission through an aluminum building (signal reflected back rather than through) all should be ok with another cat5 run. i was just hoping if there was some way i could reduce the noise on the existing cat5 run. anyways thanks for your input lads. Catch ya laters -
Hi there i want to say thanks for helping out before and my installation is going smooth(2nd installation) only thing is the customer wants to see his cctv on his TV in the house. I have tried to use a vga splitter to a wireless AV sender but it didnt work im thinking it may need a VGA card with a tv out. the question i need to ask is that i have two Homeplugs (POE) and i want to be able to transmit video through this e.g pc tv out - > home plug 1 --- transmit video ---> homeplug 2--->house TV AV port How do i get this to work properly with out the extra cost. i probably will do wireless for now though but im sure that POE is better quality POE seems a good techology i want to be able to use them for analogue cameras but i also dont know how to do this too. this forum is pretty good lot of good guys here. anyway im trying to start up a CCTV with IT solutions business hell its in demand and it just comes to you.

video over Power over ethernet
cctvlad replied to cctvlad's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
hello lads okkk I think i have a solution to the tv out to the house instead of a wireless solution. beside the computer int he officce there is a CAT5 cable run to the house for a telephone extenstion but only a few pairs is being used. I was thinking I could attach video buluns on each end one at the tv out from the video card side and one at the TV side. would this work...its about 10-12 metre cable run. would this be efficent??? -

cctvlad replied to cctvlad's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
thanks lad the ipserver and ip decoder is the one i was looking for. cheers. ive had a thought if i had a pc based dvr with remote viewing enabled ... if i got a network enabled standalone dvr connected to a tv at that remote location. would this also work? btw i thinkt he standard analogue wireless setup is the cheapest method. im interested in sending video over POE in order to save installation hassle. but cctvlad -

pcbased dvr but the point is to transmit the VGA over the POE or Wireless. it has a a composite out but i cant use it becuase i have an IP camera as well as a dvr setup. as both cant come through the composite out it will be both been seen on the pc desktop so im trying to transmit the desktop to a tv. -
how do I build a ip server for analogue cameras all I have yet is a router and a 4 port passive balun the dvr is at the pc card. im quite stuck what do I need to do to get the cams working across the network without actually connecting to the dvr card. Im based in Ireland and starting out as I learn or should i just buy a manufactured all in one ip server.
