    Dvr won't recognise hard drive

Wanted to add one more thing. After I switched the power supplies the cameras were giving me problems going out.I had some single camera supply power cords that I hooked to each camera and it made the affected cameras work again. The old power supply from the Dvr did not have power to work the cameras right.Every thing is working now,but I am still going to buy a new power supply cord for the dvr and then hook my cameras back up to the original power supply which is 120 volts and 5 amps with a split wire for 8 cameras.I hope you have solved your problem.Take care

Just wanted to follow up on my problem, the same one you seem to be having.I decided to try what I had seen posted on this site.I switched my power supply which was 12 volts and 2 amps from the dvr to the cameras,[i have cables for cameras] and I used the camera power suppy which was 12 volts and 5 amps.As soon as I switched powered up my recordings Icons showed up and started recording.I went into Main menu and then advanced and then HDD to look at information and there was now a # for the hard drive and you could now go to the other setting to format if you wanted.I also went to recording playback and it is now working.Everything seems to be normal for now.I think I would not have had to purchase a hard drive at all.I am going to order a new power cord to replace the original one.I want to thank everyone for their posts for now I am able to get back to normal.I do not know if this work for you,but if you can find another power cord, borrow or whatever I think you might be surprised like I was that it worked. It is worth the try.Good luck Like they say,You learn something new every day and now I believe it.

    Dvr won't recognise hard drive

I am a newbie to this site, but I noticed you are having the same problem I am.Mine came up with an alert no hard disk.I replaced the disk with a 750 gb,the old was 500.I did not work either after I replaced the hard drive. It still comes up with the same alert. The cameras work but no recordings. When I go in to format the Hdd or look at it there is no information about the disk or any other info and it will not let me pick from Sat 1 Or Sat 2 and that was the same before I replaced the hard drive. It is like it can not read the hard drive. If you can not pick Sat 1 or 2 by clicking on it so clicking format and execute do not work.I I could not format the old hard drive because of this.My unit is about 5 years old and was purchased from China.I seen on another post someone replaced the power cord,it would work the cameras but not the hard drive.Maybe I will try that.I like you need any help I can get.
