    Pelco DX4500 Admin Password

Sent the DX4500 off to Pelco today, should be there by the end of the week, hopefully they can get it sorted out and back to me in a couple of weeks. I'll keep you all posted on why the password couldn't be reset, and how much it cost to send it in.
  2. Hello everyone, I'm not sure this is the best place for this post, but here goes. I purchased a Pelco DX4508 from Ebay, unit works fine other than I cant log as ADMIN which basically makes the unit worthless. I have looked online and the default password is six zeros, which I have tried and it doesnt work. I have contacted Pelco for a password reset via their proprietary temporary password generator, and after giving the tech the serial number he generated a password, however as my luck would have it the password doesnt work. I sent him a photo of both labels on the unit, one at the front left cdrw door, and the other on the rear left. He says he looked it up and all the numbers matched so there shouldnt be an issue, however the code he made doesnt work. He says I can send it in to Pelco, and they can reset the passcode at the shop, which they will charge for, I'm not sure how much though. He also said that he's had this happen a few times, so its not a totally isolated issue. My unit list two possible login names, one being "admin" the other is "security" I have tried the code he issued on both, in caps, and lower case. From what I read online the password is temporary, and only last for a day, not sure if that is true. Another question I have is would the unit have to be connected to the internet for the issued password to work? When I tried the password the tech issued it wasnt online, and if the password he give out expires, that could be why it wasnt working I assume. I have asked the seller on Ebay for the password but havent heard back from them, and as cheap as I purchased the unit, I may not hear from him again, lol. Anyway, I see you guys are a CCTV savvy group and hoped that someone may have some info to share good or bad. Thanks in advance.
