Cold Temp Experience Needed (I'm talking Canada cold!)
InNorthernWeTrust replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in Security Cameras
I think you might be suprised with the WZ14... I've seen some nice snapshots using it. Your not going to find many inexpensive cameras that can withstand those temps without a heater. Maybe a better option is to put a battery backup in. Ditek makes the DTK-DRP16 Series which combines surge protection for your entire head end, battery backup, and one of the option also doubles as a passive UTP receiver. Also the FB-2012 from BATKO is a pretty nice housing looking housing that does not require a heater blower. I can't tell you how much it is or give you any feedback from customers because we don't sell it but the rep swung through and pitched it and I was impressed. -
www.sperrywest.com Has a very wide selection of covert cameras. as far as the DVR goes, nearly all embedded dvrs these days are viewable via the web. And a cheap embedded 4-ch dvr isn't a whole lot more than a DVR card - once you add the PC it tends to be more expensive to use a card. Find out your upload speed. DSL isn't bad, but your upload speed is whats important.

Pelco KBD300A Replacement
InNorthernWeTrust replied to lukewatkins's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
If Pelco has had it for 3 months and can't fix it, I would think they would replace it - as long as this is a warranty repair. Maybe push a little harder on your supplier to get Pelco to replace it? I can't promise they will do it, but they have a few times in the past. -
Not a solution but it may make your cleaning them alot easier: http://www.dotworkz.com/products/domewizard.asp Ill look around for a better solution though.

Convert BNC camera to IP
InNorthernWeTrust replied to theodotcom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Most cost effective way would be to bring it into a distribution amp like the GE KTS-250-16(16 1x4 distribution amp) and run it into the ACTi ACD2400(16ch encoder). Or put 16 ACD2100's in a RMK2000 rack kit. That gets pretty expensive, though alot cheaper than most others out there. ACTi also offers a free 16ch recording software - which though basic is much more robust than other free softwares I've seen. -
Hybrid System suggestions
InNorthernWeTrust replied to ClosedCircuitCom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Avermedia has numerous recorders that can do this if your looking for a windows/linux embedded box. www.avermedia.com also try(in no particular order): www.izontechnologies.com www.ipvideocorp.com www.digiop.net - not sure if compatitible with all above. DigiOp also makes smaller recorders as well and because they use dell/hp boxes their warranty also includes onsite service by a technication. www.toshibasecurity.com - not sure if compatitible with all above, though they do have a pretty good list for a big name like this. For pure software solutions(in no particular order): www.verint.com - I believe requires certification www.aimetis.com www.milestone.com www.onssi.com All have their own advantages. All also offer analytics as options. For servers for the software solutions: www.DNFsecurity.com www.pivot3.com and Aimetis can source servers as well and preload with their software. -
Convert BNC camera to IP
InNorthernWeTrust replied to theodotcom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
www.acti.com www.axis.com and many more. I'm a big fan of ACTi. You get alot of bang for your buck. Take a look at the ACD2100 single channel encoder. It also has an looping output so you can keep it running into your analog system. -
System design question (Avermedia, Panasonic wv cameras)
InNorthernWeTrust replied to ddogg777's topic in System Design
The WVCU360C controller is not capable of direct camera control. The WVCU161 is however it is cheaper to simply get a WVCU360C and a WJMP204C - not to mention it will allow control of 4 rather than 1 PTZ. -
Best License Plate Capture cameras
InNorthernWeTrust replied to survtech's topic in Security Cameras
http://www.inexzamir.com/ This as another good company that specializes in LPR. Their spec sheet distances are for ALPR though, and can capture a plate from futher away. I recommend calling if you have an application for farther distances than the spec say. -
Recommendations Please

Actually, using the external storage arrays you can get 30TB worth of storage. -
High QUALITY SIMULATED/Fake SECURITY CAMERAS
InNorthernWeTrust replied to jhow's topic in System Design
The Arm Electronics DPROCAM is their box camera housing without the guts. It's a little pricer than some dummy cameras because of it, but it definitely looks like a camera. They have a smoked outdoor dummy dome that is their outdoor dome housing without guts. DMDVPSMK(?). Not positive of that part number. Make sure you get the smoke though(see below for why.). Their indoor dummy domes I do not recommend because the dome cover is clear and you can actually see there is no camera inside. Usually I say just buy a cheap camera. There are cameras out there for the same price that actually work. And if they want to have a real system later they already have working cameras(may not be very good but better than nothing.). -
Avermedia IP wifi4 ccd security system with DVR
InNorthernWeTrust replied to jhow's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Avermedia demo'd this to us about a month ago... it's actually pretty impressive. The picture quality was great, and it's so easy to set up. The DVR is capable of recording 60FPS @ D1. Literally you just power up the cameras and DVR and your instantly recording video. Just focus your cameras and walk away. drawback: No housing for the cameras. If they were to add a housing accessory you could purchase this would be perfect for mom and pop shops and home installs. -
Though significantly less expensive than trenching generally. Mesh networks such as Azalea Networks also offer additional advantages to city deployments such as wifi connectivity for emergancy personnel like Police, EMTs, and Fire. Gives the cities some additional return on investment and a good upsale for integrators. Take a look at www.azaleanet.com.

Yes the JDVR is a JPEG2000 unit Hold out for a week or so and the new JHDVR will come out. The JDVR I believe is being phazed out. Basically the JHDVR a JDVR with H.264 transmission for great network viewing(which was always the downfall of the JDVR). It still has the JPEG2000 local recording for best image quality but now has mouse control and a DVDRW too.

need bigger system recommendation
InNorthernWeTrust replied to a topic in General Digital Discussion
As others have mentioned, this is going to be extremely difficult with the amount of bandwidth you have at each location. A suggestion I haven't seen yet that may provide the best solution would be the New Nuvico APEX series. The unique network transmission method of the Nuvico APEX constantly adjusts transmittion based on what is currently being viewed. Instead of constantly transmitting all streams at a set bandwidth the Nuvico will only transmit the image on the screen(i.e if your viewing 16ch's it will display 16 QCIF images since that is what is being viewed, while if you are viewing 1ch it will transmit at D1 on only that camera.). This dramatically reduces bandwidth for the streaming video. I believe the more advanced CMS software(they charge for the advanced version) will support multiple monitors and the number of DVRs you need. Again these units will scale image transmittion based on how many cameras are being viewed at one time through the CMS software. While this is a 16 unit, they have the AP-C1600(16Ch 480 @ CIF) and AP-D1600(16Ch 480 @ D1) series, you can use the AP-C1600 to record 4 cameras at D1 and the AP-D1600 for your 8+ camera locations. These are not the most cost effective units, but they are probably the lowest cost units that may get the job done. -
Will "intensifier technology" take over the IR cam
InNorthernWeTrust replied to Erron S.'s topic in Security Cameras
No for a variety of reasons. Intensifer/Sense-Up/Enhance-IT/DSS/whatever slows down the shutter speed to allow more light into the camera. While useful to a point, the blurring of the image becomes a disadvantage quickly. Sense-up actually is more usefull WITH IRs. For some reason beyond my knowledge it actually reduces the blur effect and allows you to see farther with less LEDs. I personally like ExView cameras... customers seem satisfied more often than with Sense-Up. -
What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
InNorthernWeTrust replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
I wasn't going to say it but I've never believed the 600+ TVL either... I wasn't trying to argue that it's 600TVL but that 520TVL isn't the max. I am probably still going to buy one for myself just to test it. I've been curious for so long about what it really rates at. Effective pixels is usually the best way to judge the resolution of the camera. There are too many ways to "cheat" on resolution. I was trying to find the article Pelco put out regarding resolution that explained some of the ways manufacturers cheat on testing resolution, but I can't find it now. On a side note, anyone know the actual model for a Sony HQ-1 CCD? I've never seen anything from a true manufacturer(or Sony's website.) stating HQ-1. -
What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
InNorthernWeTrust replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
Ok, regardless of whether or not you consider ARM Electronics a "no-brand" product here are extremely reputable manufacturers that prove this statement wrong: 560TVL Color / 700TVL B/W http://www.samsungcctv.com/product/file_data/manual/20070911_0_0708.SHC-735.E.pdf I don't know what DSP it uses but the CCD is a Samsung chip(obviously). Artnix(specs on their new cameras are not on the website has a 550TVL WDR using a "1/3" RGB Color DPS Sensor Pixim Orca D1500 Series ". You going to call Panasonic a liar? 540TVL: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/cctv/SpecSheets/WV-CP480%20series.pdf ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/cctv/SpecSheets/WV-CP280Series.pdf ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/business/security/WV-CL930_2A-032L.pdf ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/business/security/WV-CL930_2A-032L.pdf I could also pull some more if you like. Yes I agree alot of manufacturers will exagerate their specs or use the B/W TVL as the listed TVL. But to say that 520TVL is the max is insulting nearly every manufacturer in the industry. I recommend before calling someone's product specs a lie - try one and bench it yourself. I've personally sold more than 100 of the C600DN's and while I might get other complaints, the resolution was never one of them. -
While the Intensifier feature will give you low light capabilities, it can also cause significant "ghosting" or blurring effects at higher "sense-Up" settings. Depending on your need for detail, or how much motion there will be this can be determential. I recommend an Ex-View camera such as the CX550 from Arm Electronics(box camera) or the CX580MDVAI (dome camera.) if the ghosting effect will be a problem. This will be able to see in low light conditions without the drawbacks. Also: Speco, Nuvico, Arm Electronics, and Samsung GVI all offer sense-up features in selected cameras under different names.

The Moondance would work since it is IP68 rated... though depth of course does matter. IP68 - Totally protected against dust / Protected against long periods of immersion under pressure.

Need help picking out the right camera for color in night
InNorthernWeTrust replied to gfdcxgfd's topic in Security Cameras
So here are two options for you based on your requirements. The challenge is both of them are a little over your budget and are varifocal(4-9mm) not fixed lens. Both of them will exceed your lowlight requirements though. CX520BCVF CX580MDVAI(also available in a 2.6-6mm option CX580MD2VAI) These are Arm Electronics units. ------------------------------- CVS21N should meet the requirements, it claims a 0.1 lux without sense up. Probably a little over budget as well though... This is a Nuvico unit -
Megapixel video recorder
InNorthernWeTrust replied to deserteaglexxx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
While I believe Exacq will preconfigure their software onto a server, will NUUO? He mentioned he is looking for a preconfigured unit. I'd like to know for my own info too. --------------------------- Heads up, I checked and Avermedia supports IQinvision. -
Sweet units, Nuvico came in and demo'd these for us. The special network transmission method they use is impressive. It constantly adjusts what it is transmitting based on what you are viewing(i.e. 16 camera display is transmitting 16 QCIF images but if you pull up one camera it immediately changes to transmit one D1 res image.) and is fast enough in response we couldn't catch the res change in images. Only drawback I could find is the video outputs: VGA is a double of BNC1 BNC1 displays 1-16 BNC2 displays 17-32 BNC3 displays 1-16 BNC4 displays 17-32 And they mentioned that in a firmware update soon they will fix that. I was very impressed.

Megapixel video recorder
InNorthernWeTrust replied to deserteaglexxx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Toshiba IPR series is cost effective embedded windows solution that records at the Native resolution of the IP Camera. I do not know if they support IQInvision however. Avermedia and DigiOp are two more.
