Operating speed domes on their side?

I actually had an application I was working on that required a PTZ to be mount sideways. The only manufacturer who would come out and say "Yes it will work fine." was the Extreme CCTV(moondance PTZ). Now that was about a year ago now, so there is probably something else on the market now too.

    Low lux cam

All of these versions are color only. They will not switch to B&W(which I think is what your looking for.) Box camera - CX550 Indoor Dome camera - CX580MDVAI (Also available in a 2.6-6mm option: CX580MD2VAI) Bullet - CX520BCVF

    Low lux cam

The CX550 series are going to be your best bet there. The CX580 series if you want a dome camera. While I think the 580TVL is BS, it is a very nice lowlight dome. The new CX520BCVF bullets are pretty nice too, though the Day/Night version is not a true day/night.

is it possible to make a dome for my camera?

Videolarm makes them. www.videolarm.com. As others have mentioned, which dome to use depends on the size of the cameras and how you need to mount it(i.e. surface mount? 2x2 ceiling tile?). Discreet is a problem because they are big domes.

    Auto Tracking PTZ

Actually, it does support Pelco P protocal. There are a couple dipswitches you can set to change it to Pelco P protocol. If anyone is interested, PM me and I will email you the documentation on this. and yes, this is by far the best analog auto-tracker on the market and setup appears to be nearly as simple as the 964.

    Nuvico CV-SD3895N/P-L - Experience w/ this camera?

The CVSD3895NL is an extremely popular IR dome for us. While nearly all IR domes have some issue with IR reflection, I rarely get complaints on the performance of this one. I do not have any experience with the Accudome(it's not a line we carry) however have sold a number of similar domes to varied results. While the design of the unit helps reduce IR reflection, these style of domes just seem to be lower quality units. I also know that I get alot of issues with them being weatherproof. Hope this helps!

Using Active and Passive Baluns together

Just to clarify, are you stating that a active TX to passive RX solution will work better than the reverse? Because every manufacturer of UTP equipment I have seen suggests the following configurations. passive tx to passive rx passive tx to active rx active tx to active rx

Using Active and Passive Baluns together

Not sure of the technical reasoning behind it, it always seemed backwards to me as well. However Passive(camera) to Active(headend) is indeed the correct way to do it. It will dramatically increase your distance. However the vast majority of video baluns can be used passive to passive at 750ft with no to minimal degradation of video quality. 500-600ft should not need an active receiver.

    Panasonic WV-CS854

That PTZ will not support Pelco D, Pelco P only. And you will need to ask them. They will not volunteer the info.

    Two standalone DVRs

Hello! Just a heads up, ICRealtime makes a 32-ch embedded DVR. There are several companies that have CMS(central management software) for their DVRs that allow you to control upto a certain # of DVRs and view a certain # of cameras at one time from a single software(100 DVRs with a combined 64 camera display does seem to be pretty common for the software.). Some charge for the software, some do not. Really depends on your budget and requirements in a DVR which one you should use.

    Balun Recommendation

Hello! Glad to hear you buy from Northern! Here are a couple of Part numbers for Vigitron and NVT. Both of these are passive and not recommended over 750' Vigitron: Video/Power/Data VI1053VPD NVT: Video/Power/Data NV-218A-PVD Either of those parts should work fine. I do not see any part numbers for active receivers, though there are a couple hubs that handle Video Power Data. For more information, PM me or: www.vigitron.com www.nvt.com
  15. Veracity makes a IP over Coax transmitter that will do 900'. http://www.veracityusa.com/products/highwire/highwire.php It's not outragously priced either.

Arm Electronics License Plate Camera C480LPIR 120?

Per Arm Electronics this camera is available and will continue to be. Who did you speak with? They seem to be giving out misinformation and that should be addressed.

Is there a device made that will do what I want?

There are a variety of manufacturers you can use for this. ACTi SED2120 is a single channel video encoder that comes with recording software. That should do nicely for what your looking for.

Arm Electronics License Plate Camera C480LPIR 120?

Thought I would let everyone know this camera is not discontinued.
  19. Yes, you can use a ACTi encoder(example: SED-2120) and use their free 16-ch recording software to record the camera to a PC. www.acti.com there are a hundred other companies you can do this as well, but ACTi has that free software which is nice.

    Super Wide Dynamic Range Camera

As I stated it is used for military application occasionally, I have sold many for military projects(non-survellience applications, though they usually can't give me details since I don't have security clearance.) do to the capabilities of the camera. However you are correct, without a housing that camera is not rugged enough for military use. It is all about the solution not just a single product. Put that Panasonic in a Videolarm BMT10C2 with a 5-100mm zoom lens and you have an extremely durable and powerful camera system that could technically be called a "military camera system". on another note, the Toshiba IK1000 is often used for military apps.

    Super Wide Dynamic Range Camera

Panasonic WVCP484 is one of the best WDR cameras on the market. Its also the only camera that I have never received a complaint about. It is used for military applications occasionally. The Toshiba IK65WDA is supposed to be great too, but I haven't sold as many of those or received nearly as much feedback.

Anyone have any experience with CCTV.net?

Technically yes we do... though it is under a different brand name. Ganz markets them under their part numbers. Same cameras though. 800-366-4472

    Brand quality and reputation

http://www.armelectronics.com/specs/C520HDCVFIR280AC.pdf That big enough? The only drawback is it is designed for long distance surveillence, the IRs are too powerfull for close up shots, it washes out the picture.

    Help with design.... please

We don't actually have our own equipment line... which system are you being quoted? Usually I quote Avalan or Microtek for ethernet bridges. Both are great companies to work with and make a high quality product.

    Camera Suggestions For Manufacturers

VITEK VTD-MVH2910DN any IP68 camera will be fully waterproof. Have you tried the wdr of samsung domes, they go to low light with SSNR to cut out noise, Best Vandal dome aroudn I think IMHO 4150 / 4020, cheers I have a customer that likes them... and they spec pretty nice for the price. But if posting that as another option for a waterproof camera it's only IP66, not IP68.
