What Dell computer to use for nv6480

Dell Vostro 420 is fine with one NV6480 card. If you plan to upgrade to a pair of NV6480 look elsewhere. Not enough PCIe slots. Vostro 420 1 PCIe X16 1 PCIe X1
  2. Looking for any recommendations on a 4ch BNC to one female RJ45 video balun, low noise. Just need video transmission. All cameras already have power. CAT5e is less than 900ft 4 520TVL color CCTV cameras Active? or Passive?
  3. Thanks for the reply. The NITEK products looks promising. These 4 cameras are being added to a PC based DVR using Avermedia NV8416 cards. So, I should use one passive transceiver & an active receiver, huh?
  4. Darn, I re-read all the post carefully. I thought I was going crazy too. "software build is incompatible" = Fried motherboard
  5. Great post people. I have a new problem with a DM D4A with a 40GB Maxtor. Backgorund on this D4A motherboard is D4DRA IP: 192.168.1.12 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.1.1 The original firmware is boot software version 3.0 (018)(D4DR) Firmware has been upgraded to 3.1 (168) to original hard drive. It has been running for 2 years. The original hard drive started to fail after 5 years. This D4A goes thru the normal boot process, "Initializing boot loader" checks NVRAM - pass checks hard drive - pass Initializing application Then this message "System Software Ver. 3.1 (168)-D4(D4DR) ***Software build is incompatible***" 1st issue, the static IP in no longer programmed in the D4A. Therefore, can't ping. Can't FTP & upload firmware to new hard drive by network. I've tried the following with a Maxtor 120GB IDE 8MB cache 1. I was able to clone the failing hard drive with Nortons Ghost 11.0. However, there are bad sectors on failing hard drive. Same message, "Software build is incompatible" 2. With the new hard drive, I've copied firmware 3.1 (168) & unzipped the files within the new drive. Same message, "Software build is incompatible" 3. Hyper terminal, RS-232 cable, cross-over cable. Configured hyper terminal 19200-8-N-1 & computer XP PRO IP 192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0. J4 is the jumper to "Halt on boot loader" No response to keyboard inputs 4. tried to use Putty.exe in place of hyper terminal too. I'm need help. I've replaced hard drives in a few DM DS2A thru FTP upload. Why is this D4A saying "Software build is incompatible" when it used to work with firmware 3.1 (168)? Why did it loose it's static IP settings? Thanks in advanced!

    Aver NV6480exp PC based dvr.

Which Video cards have been successful for you?
  9. Both responses nailed the advantages of PCIe. 1. Higher bandwidth 2. Motherboard manufacturers will slowly phase out PCI slot, just like they did with ISA slots. I'm building a PC based DVR with two Avermedia NV8416 E4 cards for a client. The NV8416 is a PCIe x4 card.

    Best Capture Card

How are UDP & Hikvision cards compared to AverMedia, particularly NV6480 or NV8416 E4 PCI-E cards? I'm about to purchase NV8416 E4 card for client.

    AverMedia NV8416 E4 card

I located a dealer in the USA. Pricing is not that bad.
  12. Clients DVR had this PCI DVR card w/ 8CH hooked up. Hard drive died. From what I can tell by searching internet, it is a A-Logics AM-209M chipset on card. Made in Korea. Can't find any drivers or DVR software online, not really that surprised actually. If I can't get the drivers & software, I'm will sell him a AverMedia NV5000.

    Hard drive Dedicated Micros sprite

To upload the software to a new hard drive the DVR must be connected to a switch/router. You must know the IP address of the Digital Sprite. Consult the manual if you don't know. The menu for the DS seems similar to the new DS2A. Do a search "Dedicated Micros hard drive" in this forum.

    Hard drive Dedicated Micros sprite

Authorized DM repair center said they use Hitachi drives. I used http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145214 It's been running for 1.5 years thus far.

    Hard drive Dedicated Micros sprite

You own a Dedicated Micros Digital Sprite 9ch 2x75GB. I've replaced hard drives in D4 & DS2A. The software available on Dedicated Micros' UK site. http://www.dedicatedmicros.com/software_release/index_firmware.php I think the software for the DX09C is DS. The version for download is 2.0(021).

Which model DM Sprite? You may have to open the case to see which motherboard it has.

  19. Thanks, I've upgrade a clients DM DS2A with a HITACHI Deskstar T7K500 HDT725032VLAT80 (0A33405) 320GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133. It's been recording for 1.5 years 24/7 without any problems. I thought I'd try a 500GB hard drive for another DM DS2. I usually buy from Newegg, but they only carry a 16mb cache 500GB IDE harddrive.
  20. DM D4, may i install one or two hard drives? DM DS2 9ch, has anyone installed a SATA hard drive with a SATA to PATA (ATA to IDE) converter? Is it true DM only accept hard drives with a 8mb cache?

    Hard Drives

Has anyone tried a SATA to PATA converter on a Dedicated Micros DS2?
  22. I installed a WD 100Gig HD. It recording now. The steps are easy. I called the California authorized repair center, they said they only use Hitachi hard drives now and 320Gig is the recommended maximum. Anything above 320G has the possiblilty to be unstable. Well going from the original 80G to a 320G is a good upgrade in storage capacity.
  23. I'm gonna install a 320g.
  24. Ok, it is a IDE drive. Does the replacement drive have to be a MAXTOR? Has anyone else used a different brand drive?
  25. Is the hard drive in the DS2 IDE or SATA?
