Hi, I am new to the world of CCTV and would like some help with wiring a CCTV camera.
I purchased a Swann system a couple of weeks ago including a NHD-811 camera. The camera has been mounted externally to monitor my driveway due to a recent theft.
However, it comes with a large (almost 1 inch square) connection box attached to the end of its cable to connect it to an ethernet cable which then plugs into the recorder. I was struggling to make a hole large enough for this box so I spoke to my neighbour who is an electrician and using his heavy duty drill and bit we made a larger hole which still was not big enough to get this box through.
So, I have cut the box off, passed the cable through the hole in the external wall with a plan of attaching a RJ45 plug to the end of the cable within the house which I can then connect to the recorder. But, there are only 6 wires (I was expecting 8 ) in the cable and they do not seem to be standard colours. They are:-
Purple
Grey
Orange
Orange/White
Green
Green/White
So, I am unsure where each wire should go in the RJ45 plug. I am nervous about experimenting with different combinations as I assume I could cause permanent damage to the camera and recorder if i got it wrong?
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tim
