  1. I am using some cheap ($70.00) Ebay IR cameras with my new GV-800 card. With one camera connected the motion sensitive setting seems to work as expected. However, when I connect more than one camera I get black waves that stretch from top to bottom and move horizontally across the screen and the motion settings are useless. It records everything all the time. I can mask the entire view and it still registers motion and records it. Any help would be appreciated.

    GV-800-8 + computer = good combo?

I plan to add an external USB harddrive. This system is to watch my home when I am away. I have no way to protect the computer from theives. I can secure an external harddrive much easier. They may get the computer but I will still have them on video.

    GV-800-8 + computer = good combo?

I am new to this forum and new to DVR, cameras etc.. I need to build a system for home and would appreciate some help from you knowledgeable gentlemen. I have decided to go with the Geovision GV-800-8 card. I have read everything I can find for the past three days and it seems these cards are picky about what PC's they will work with. If would be very helpful it you could take a look at the configuration below. I think it will work. It is a pre-built computer. I am one who hates to ask for help but I don't really want to buy something that won't work. What do you think? It is priced at about $500.00. Suggestions?
