    Yes, had that problem on the first unit I built with 8.5. Posted the issue elsewhere but got no answers. I could slow down the playback, then speed it up again until 1X, then no more.

     

    At least I'm not alone !

     

    I downgraded that unit to 8.4.0.1, have stayed with that on new units this week as well. I'll wait for 8.5.1 I think.

    v8.4 will support Onvif, so many more cameras will come into the fold. Due next week.

     

    Also, Geovision are dropping the requirement for a dongle if you use their cameras. That will make an all Geovision IP solution very competitive.

    Geovision Matrix will allow you to display whatever cameras you want as you have them configured (PIP, PAP). All you need do is add another VGA card with multiple outputs and just configure the matrix to each monitor.

     

    Digital matrix does not support PIP or PAP.

    I'm quite familiar with both, thanks. I also see the breakout cables regularly called "dongles", which is why I asked. They also go by "octopus cables" in addition to "breakouts", "pigtails" and "dongles", and I'm sure several other names..

     

    What you call "dongles" I also commonly see called "USB license keys", and I've known them to go by various other names as well.

     

    A little more specificity and a little less condescension will get you a long way.

     

     

    So do you know the answer to Rorys question or not ?

    Drag and Drop not working. in 8.3.3 you have a choice on the bottom of showing anywhere from 1 camera full screen all the way to 32 cams. I just need to know If I can rearrange the view to organize similar cameras. Or is this done thru spot monitor? I have to pull all wiring out and start re-arranging physically the wires.

    Option two I'm afraid, re-arrange the wires. Spot monitor is programmable, but not the main screen.

    Not possible with analog cameras, can be done with IP.

    if it can be done with ip it should also work with standard cameras. this is just the screen view.

     

    with the new geovision it has drag and drop. place mouse over camera hold down right mouse button drag camera to new location let mouse go.

     

    The setup for IP and analog is very different, with IP you get to choose which camera position you want.

     

    There is no drag and drop feature on the main screen, I don't know what you are talking about there.

    1/ I can understand that the IP cams are not connected through the capture card and therefore not the DSP output, so how can you get the IP cameras to output with the other cameras onto a spot monitor....currently we have 8 cameras at this site 2 x IP 2 x Analogue, but the DSP output to the spot monitor shows the 2 x IP cameras as small black squares...IE it does not output them.

     

    Are you running v8.3 ?

     

    2/ I added the 2 x Geo IP cameras without any problems to the DVR, but wanted to test a Arecont camera on the system, the DVR will not let me...telling me that I can not set a camera psoition because USB Key = 0 does this mean that using Geo IP cameras is free but any other brand you wish to use...you will need a USB key and licence?

     

    All 3rd party IP cams require one of the new licences on a dongle, and before you spend the money make sure your Arecont cam is on the supported list.

    I can confirm that is wrong!

     

    I just tested a GV-1120/8 + 1IP camera, 8 analogue cameras from channel 1 to 8 and the IP camera is on channel 9 on this 8 channel GV card! So I am pretty sure that you can have 8 + 8 on a 16 channel due the GUI, and if you have 16 channel card you can have 16 analogue or 15 analogue + 1 ip and so on.

     

    The 8.3 is giving you a different GUI that will change this then you can have for instance 16 analogue and 16 ip cameras.

    You are correct ! I tested it too. Also got confirmation from Geo that it can be done this way. They did initially say it had to be done the way I mentioned above, but seem to have changed their tune. Sorry for any panic caused !

     

     

     

    That's not correct actually. If your customer has an 8 channel card, then they can have a maximum of 4 IP cameras, and will have to reduce the number of analog cameras to 4. They would need a 16 channel analog card with 8 cameras on it, then they could add up to 8 IP cameras.

     

    This may change in v8.3, but that's how it's done at the moment in 8.2.

     

    Seriously?? Oh man. I already sent an email to the customer telling him the good news.

     

    Didn't we used to have a Geovision contact on here? I forget his name, maybe he can provide us with an update on this.

    I got my NVR dongle yesterday. Now have 2 Sony IP cams running alongside 14 analogs on v8.2. Installed fine, Geo auto-detected them. Bit of a drawback that the contrast/brightness controls in System configure don't work on the IP cams, so you have to log in to each cameras own setup page to tweak these.

     

    My IP cams have build in microphones, anyone have any ideas how to record the audio from these in 8.2 ?
