    Motion Detect and Windy Days

My location has trees and windy days which cause a lot of recording. I've tried reducing the sensitivity and would love to use object tracking or counting to trigger motion detect. Is this possible?
  2. Is it possible to setup an automated backup process so I can view the files without having to reload db. I think I'm missing something but haven't been able to figure it out. Thanks

    Remote setup?

Just got my GV-250 card works great. Now I need to use it remotely and am still trying to figure out the many components. Can someone tell me how to set up the following remote options? 1) casual remote viewing, ie start up software see whats going on currently and maybe see what's happened in last couple of hours. 2) detailed review, ie something has happened I want to xfer files, or have them already xfered and review the events in detail without the internet delay Thanks, Peter

    Video Loss Alarm?

I was getting ready to install a video system and we had a breakin and realized that the cables would be exposed in the area where the culprits were coming thru and need to be protected. Then, it occurred to me that if I could use the video loss alarm maybe they'd tell me they were there. Anyhow, what are my options for using the video loss detection. Is it possible to feed this to an alarm company, cell phone etc? Thanks Peter
  8. I'm looking at building a pc based dvr using geovision cards and had some questions 1) can I use multiple cards, ie start with 4 or 8 channel and buy additional 4 or 8 chan card 2) specs say P4 2.0 how does this translate for dual core systems and I love AMD systems will these work 3) I'm looking at using the GV-650-8, I don't need high fps, doing remote view over internet so high fps slows this down a bit on my current system would like to start with 8 chan and expand to 16ch if needed. 4) any base or prebuilt system recommendations would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Building PC based DVR with Geovision?'s

Awesome, exactly what I'm looking for a file of each event. Not sure how you operate but everything I do is remote, so anything I can do to avoid waiting on stuff to load via internet helps. With this you could replicate the server using an ftp server, but this is better because it is by event vs by day. Uploading a 150mb in one shot is a bit tricky. Thanks for all the help.

Building PC based DVR with Geovision?'s

How much would you expect to spend on a core 2 duo 2.4 with 2gb memory, and 320gb hard drive? Would you use XP over vista? Thanks PS what is the file structure like for the recorded video, ie can you play it directly. On my current system which uses KDT it has the files separated by day and I can upload the day and view it on my local software. The only disadvantage to this is a whole day has to be uploaded but it's not that big a deal.

Building PC based DVR with Geovision?'s

Oops I meant computer system not DVR, are there any base computer systems you like adding these cards too? Also, Core Duo is a 1.8 ghz good? Plenty of them avail. Thanks for the help.

    4 CH Wireless 60ft distance

I need to install 4 cameras where power is available but I've either got to cut asphalt, doable, run wire overhead or go wireless. I can get the xmiter(s) to within 60 ft of the office, right across the aisle. From the rcvr. Any suggestions on equipment. To use for xmit/recv for four channels? Thanks

    Cameras for Self Storage

Setting up a system for self storage and have a few questions. I like dome vs regular because you can't tell where they are pointed without studying the camera, anything wrong with this logic? Anyhow, where can I find weatherproof dome cameras with a bracket to attach to either cinder block or metal and how much should I expect to pay. I'd like 6mm with some IR, it's going 200 ft but I have lights above. Also, I assume the 3.6, 6mm, 8mm is magnification if not please tell me. Thanks

    4 CH Wireless 60ft distance

We go by: "you might get what you pay for, never more" I owe you a beer next time I'm in Charleston. Thanks

    4 CH Wireless 60ft distance

Where can I find wireless motion detectors, and how do they work? Would you have a pointer to the ptz/wireless motion detector setup? If the price is right could help me in another location where the layout is more open. I could go with two cams for this particular set up its a rectangular storage units building with a building in the middle so I could put one cam on each corner.
  16. I have a situation(don't we all lol). Where I'd like to install 4 cameras in a section where power is available but crossing the coax over to the main buildings presents a challenge. The good news is I can get close to the main building for transmitting. What are my best options with wireless since I'm using 4 ch's. Is getting a 4ch baluns and a wireless router a good idea, assuming I can convert it back for the dvr or can I buy a 4 ch xmitter receiver note: I don't what to be scanninng the cameras i want each camera on its own ch at the dvr. Thanks

8Ch Dvr for Self Storage System

This isn't a high budget operation. I'd like buy the least expensive thing that will get the job done. I don't need high frame rates, only using 1fps now not sure why you'd need a whole lot more, 30fps is impossible to watch via internet. Just something that does what it advertises with motion detect, mask, record, remote view, remote client, simultaneously. Remote file upload is a plus but can do that with separate computer if necessary. My system at 71.70.132.204 works great does everything I need, I could use more cams we'll get there. Spend about $1500 installed it myself not hard. It has 16ch only using 4. I have almost one years data and 36% of disk used. Not bad. Thanks
  18. What should I expect to pay for a decent 8ch DVR for self storage with the following features? 1) 8ch 2) motion detect with mask 3) remote viewing 4) remote viewing client, ie I can upload files and view them at home 5) All functions work simutaneously Also, seems like 8ch cost 3x as much as 4ch is this right or am I looking in wrong place? Also any recommendations? Note: I have a 16ch PC system for another system, and prefer to stay away because of maintenance issues, I'm a pc geek but need to push a button and have it work, makes my life easier.

    Cameras for Self Storage

I'm really asking for some sources of good outdoor 6mm dome cameras with brackets that are reasonably priced. If anyone wants to check out my current setup check out 71.70.132.204 (note can't do link now) Its a mixture of 3.6(3,4) and 6mm IR cams(1,2). I need some more dome cameras and if you check out cam3 and night u can see my lights cause some issues with the IR that I'd like to fix. Could definitely add some cameras further down the aisle, but this does a fairly good job and accomplishes what i'm trying to do. Which is to see what's going on and as a deterrent. Thanks

8Ch Dvr for Self Storage System

So far our quotes are coming in at $5,000 for a 8 ch system installed fairly simple no trenches etc. Does this sound reasonable to you? If not, any ideas on finding a reasonable company. This isn't rocket science just finding the right parts. Thanks

8Ch Dvr for Self Storage System

Thats a really good point. Live remote viewing H.264 is at least double the speed of other compressions. I record in D1 MPEG4 for quality, and remote view with H.264 for faster frame rate. My current pc based system has kdnet and I ended up setting the fps rate at 1/fps which seems to be fine just so the remote view is even usable. But I get the impression the compression is not good on it. As we know upload speeds over 40kbs are expensive at least for me. Is there a system that sends less data when remote viewing. I'd be nice to scan fast and then look in detail if necessary vs watching 30 fps being uploaded.
