Hey guys. new to the site. did some searching and have come up empty handed. i have a DVR with 16 cameras and 16 TB of storage. the wife and i have a day care and the security video currently saves for around 28 days. we had a recent disagreement with a parent that required us to look back further then that 28 day period. unfortunately we were unable to do so.
i wanted to know if there was ways to add external storage to these dvr's so we can save more then the 28 days. i could upgrade the hd's from 4 tb to 6's or 8's but then i feel that the 4tb drives are just going to waste. can i use some kind of HD rack or dock to add multiple drives to or even hook up and old pc in a full size tower with multiple dedicated drives in there? just trying to find the best "cost effective" way to have as much storage as possible.
side notes: we plan on adding more cameras to the system which will require another DVR. we do not want to decrease the quality of the video.
