Any ideas whre to get a remote?, Got the HDD sorted this morning.

I have been contacted by the owner of a warehouse who just got a new 16 CH DVR system put in last February only to find that the guy who installed it has packed up and closed the business. He never left him a remote control for the DVR and now the HDD is giving errors. He wants me to see if I can fix it. The DVR model number is a HDR 16MS it looks like an AVTECH model of some kind. Does anyone know where I can buy a remote control for this DVR? Also since I have to replace the HDD will any brand name HDD with the same interface suffice or will I have to use the manufacturer recommended models. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I'm having problems with 2 of these DVR's at the minute, When I connect in and view remote playback the timeline window which should show activity for the day is empty. It looks like it not recording anything !! It was working and seems to have just stopped. I hvae it set to auto record etc and have rebooted both systems. When viewing the cameras you can see the green record icon activate when there is motion but it doesnt appear in the timeline. Has anyone come across this problem?

Thanks for the replies. Do you use individual PSU for each cameras or would you use a larger PSU to power more than one camera? Cheers!!

When installing camera housing would you get your logo and number sprayed on the outside for advertising or do you use stickers? Do any of you get shop cctv warning signs made up with your logo on it?

Hi all, Just going into my second year in this business. Getting a more regular supply of jobs now. Has anyone got any tips on equipment to use. Should I try and use mains cameras rather than 12 Volt for commercial jobs? What power supplys should I use? I'm using 12V 1.25a plug top for most at the minute Do you use coax plus a seperate 2 core cable for power or use the integrated cctv coax? I'll probably have a few more questions later Thanks

Many thanks for the replys everyone. I might buy a WDR dome to test it anyway to see what they are like.

Just a tip that I have for anyone starting out. Don't skimp on cable quality! I put in some cameras to a friends shed only to find the quality of the cable wasnt good enough to power the IR leds on thr cameras. I now have to put power in at source for each cam Anyway... It could be worse !!

Hi all, Got to do a quote fo 2 pubs local to me. The light levels inside the bar is a little bit dim. I'm not sure what spec of colour dome to get. I've narrowed it down to 2 cams. Which would you pick ? CAMERA 1 Colour SONY Super HAD HQ1 high resolution 3.7-12mm lens dome 12v-24v High resolution colour dome camera with a SONY Super HAD CCD and a Hitachi HQ1 DSP, fitted with a 3.7 - 12mm auto iris varifocal lens. CAMERA 2 Day / Night SONY Super HAD HQ1 high resolution 3.7-12mm lens dome 12v-24v High resolution day / night switching dome camera with a SONY Super HAD CCD and a Hitachi HQ1 DSP. Fitted with a 3.7 - 12mm auto iris varifocal lens using a built in IR cut filter to switch between monochrome and colour.

Avermedia 1304 NET?
-
Hi all, I'm thinking of getting one of these for an 8 camera domestic installation I have in a fortnight. The reviews I've seen all sound OK. Are their any alternatives apart from going the PC based route? I was considering buying an 8 chanel from COP security but its hard to get opinions on their "Own Brand" equipment. Whatever I get it has to be 8 channel and have remote view Thanks

Hi all, I'm installing an 8 channel system in a private house. I need remote viewing over the net and want to view all 8 channels on a spot monitor. I was going to use two 4 channel Avermedia 1304 net DVR's networked together but I think the only way to view all 8 channels on these is over a network. So not an option. So my question is what 8/9 channel DVR would you recommend? I have looked at the COP, EZcctv and RF concepts websites and they have suitable DVR's but I dont know what the quality of these unbranded systems are like. Any expiereance of these DVR's?
