goalie, Did you ever find a 1.2GHz antenna?
  4. Someone here once mentioned using a wireless keyboard. When not in use you can lock it up somewhere. Sounded like a good idea to me.

    Snowy picture

Don't take it too hard rory. When I first installed this phone system in the house/office I over looked a critical setting for the office line. When I put the system in night mode it left the office line in a disastrous ring no-answer state. Needless to say I missed a very important call during the final stages of a contract agreement. Of course the potential client said he needed to go with someone who would actually answer their phone when he called... I couldn't argue with that. But I did have to point out that he had my cell phone number which is answered 24/7/365.

    RS 485 to RS232 issues.

Just a FYI... Your messages will sit in your outbox until the recipient actually reads it. Nice feature because you can edit the message until it is finally read.

Night club / late bar camera recommendations

I ordered it a couple of months ago. They still show it on their website. I thought it was a pretty good price.

    Anybody watching

Yeah I know what you're saying. I'm sure people get away with it everyday. But they must know when someone does happen to be watching they are totally caught. And since there is no way to know when you are being watched-- it's a total crapshoot.

    Anybody watching

I can't believe those employees actually think they can get away with theft. It's like they don't know there are cameras everywhere.

    ProVideo CVC-150

Is anyone familiar with the ProVideo CVC-150 B/W box camera? I am mostly curious as to what the resolution of the camera is. The camera is a gonner. I fixed an extreme horizontal roll issue with a new power supply, But that was a short lived solution. Now the picture goes black after the camera gets warm. Anyway, I gave them a color bullet cam I had laying around as a loaner. They love it! Resolution is way better then any of the cams they have now. But I told them to hold off final judgement until they watch it throughout the day. I don't really know how well it will perform next to the AI cams. If all is good I guess I could just sell them the bullet, But I really want to give them a quote on some high rez box cameras, (maybe some ganz?) but would like to know what resolution their CVC-150's are for discussions sake.

    ProVideo CVC-150

Ok, Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. They have a pretty nice B/W monitor now. But I'll ask if they are interested in color... Now or in the future.

    ProVideo CVC-150

They have 3 of the 150's inside. 2 on registers and 1 up high over looking the majority of the store. Then 2 B/W's outdoors in inclosures overlooking the parking lot. I have no idea what cameras are outside but one of them has a decent image. I would like to see them at least replace the register cameras with some hi rez B/W box cams. One with a 12mm lens. The other camera should really be moved for a better angle but that would require an even longer focal length.

    ProVideo CVC-150

Appearently they are older then 5 years. The Manager I talked with had been there 5 years and no cameras had been replaced/added according to her. I will look for something in the 570 range then. I would like to see them with a couple of good cameras on the registers at least. But it will be a hard sell now because they are very happy with the quality of the cheaper bullet. I was talking to them about upgrading that VCR too. She showed me how it took all day to find a shot of who knows who doing who knows what.

    ProVideo CVC-150

Thanks Rory. That looks just like it. But the 150 threaded mount is centered and this one here has a ProVideo CVC-150 sticker on the smooth strip on the side. Is 420TVL pretty decent resolution for a B/W? If I had to guess I would say this one looks like 380 tops. But what do I know? I'm just a noobie... Will cameras just fuzz out after a while? And yes, I tried focusing the lens!

    DVR's in large stores

You are paying for the technology. Say a DVR does cost 100 bucks to make... How much was spent on R&D, support, and all other costs associated with doing business? And they aren't just recouping the cost of the last product they put out; They are funding the next wave of technology in development as well. And I don't know anyone in the service industry that doesn't rely on the markup made from the "cost of goods sold". I know I couldn't sell a 8 thousand dollar phone system at cost and only make 600 on installation. I'd have to sell a system everyday, and that ain't going to happen in my market. And what about waste? My cable comes in thousand foot pull boxes. 9 times out of 10 when I get to the end of a box there is 20, 30, or 40 feet left. Not enough for another pull. I'm not going to eat that. Costs have to be passed on to the customer. Cry all you like, but that's business.

help needed to replace this camera

I think this is a .pdf spec sheet for the camera: http://www.yoko-tech.com/support/YK2B49.pdf Looks like 3.6mm lens is an option that would give you a wider view. I don't know if "yoko-tech" is a good company to do business with, but searching for "3.6mm 2b49" turned up lots of links...

    Problems with Spytown?

I tried to place an order one time. It was never processed so I emailed and asked what the status was and got a phone call and email response right away. The product I wanted was discontinued and they offered a substitute item. I agreed to the substitute but that order too was never processed. So I just gave up. But I have no animosity towards them. They never charged my card. I like their website and had planned on trying to order again someday.
