  1. Hello all and thanks for such a great resource. I've been a security installer for 15+yrs, mostly commercial systems for access control, security and video. We do a lot of work for banks and I've been lead installer on some large, multi-site systems North of 6 figures for municipalities, hospitals and military contract clients. I'm mostly familiar with Pelco, Ganz, Axis, Panasonic, Vivotek, Verint, March, Oncam, and whatever else the salesman is selling this week, mostly commercial equipment. I've recently changed jobs and will be traveling a lot more now. I've got an alarm system but just like the painter's house goes unpainted, I've yet found the need to install a video survelance in my home until now. I'd love to stay with Axis, but can't stomach the thought of dropping 5k+ just so my wife can see who's in the driveway from her phone. I don't do a lot of residential anymore, and even that was always analog to a DVR. I'd prefer to go POE back to a switch/server, then out to devices. I can scab together the hardware but what I need is a good recommendation on outdoor cameras and maybe some software. 1.) If there's a box that's affordable and easy to use it would be worth my time to buy it but $300 is my limit for an NVR. Storage would be 7 days or so. 2.) 4 cameras max, all outdoor and IR. Prefer domes under eaves but would like them as small as possible. Don't really want to "see" them on my own house. I know, I know. I'm a snob. 3.) System has to work on both iphones and droids. The most important thing is a solid outdoor camera for around $100. Any help is appreciated.
