getting ready to buy and had a software question
bill9000 posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi all, I'm getting ready to buy a NVR per some info/research I have done and gotten some answers on here I want this one: https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-ip-security-camera-system/hd-nvr-surveillance-system-with-4-full-1080p-hd-cameras/LNR84W-1-p (I would ask lorex these questions, but their customer support is basically useless) and my questions are in regard to the recording and options... such as... when it records motion, will it start the record a few seconds BEFORE the motion happens, so you can catch someone walking up for example? and are there options for how LONG to record after the motion event occurs? example: front door cam... motion even triggers on them walking up and approaching door... but I want to be able to see AFTER they ring doorbell for example, if they were to look in the window or something... so I'd like the ability to choose HOW long to record after a motion event. also somehow with the Flir cloud, or something... it appears the NVR can email me snapshot pics from motion events? how does that work, is it one pic... or a series? or do you get to pick how many pics are sent? or how does that work? I have a good network, and I also have plenty of my own FTP servers, as I was told it can also FTP stuff? - just wondering about the options I have there. Also, I am under the impression for the motion detection to push notify my phone, I can draw a box on the scene as to where to detect, so a tree branch moving doesn't trigger it, for example? and can you do advanced scheduling, such as record everything from 12pm to 6pm - but then switch to record only motion events during the other hours? also, if I were to record all the time, when the hard drive(s) get full, will it purge the oldest recording to make room for the new? and do a "rolling" overwrite? thanks! -

"dahua software" - hadn't heard of that... would that be something different than the software it comes with, and perhaps better? I am guessing? -

awesome thank you, it's looking like this unit will suit my needs well. you mentioned post-recording, can it FTP videos after a motion event too? just curious? (I have plenty of FTP space as I am a web developer and have many servers of my own) -
Hi! I am looking at the following for my home... https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-ip-security-camera-system/hd-nvr-surveillance-system-with-4-full-1080p-hd-cameras/LNR84W-1-p I believe it to do what I need, however I have one question and the chat support was useless. What I want to do, is hide the NVR in a remote part of my house, have the PoE cameras hooked to it, and have the NVR itsself connect to my existing network via wireless. 1) Is this possible? • if so, can it be done with a USB network adapter plugged into the NVR box's USB port? • if not, would it work with some form of wireless access point sitting next to the NVR and plugged into the ethernet port on the NVR? thanks in advance for any help! New HD NVR + wireless? - basic question

so I tried looking at the item details... is it some type of wireless device itself? not sure how it can transfer the data from one point to the other? YTD2e9mIoaE Hi. This might help you ...... It turns your existing power cables into network transmission wow thats pretty wild, thank you for the info... so if I did that, I could have my NVR somewhere away from my router... and not need to run a cat5 all the way from the NVR to the router/network? and this will work for the NVR as far as stability and such!? thanks for all your help! -

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the reply. I have a very good network throughout the house, I would love an NVR - and really only need a few cameras to start... you mentioned that it could FTP pics, that would be awesome... (I have my own web servers and can easily make ftp account for this purpose!) - can you point me in the direction of the bare essentials I'd need to get that going, an NVR that could work wireless.... and cameras for it? like what brand, etc? my only "requirement" is that it can notify my phone on motion detect, (and I could disarm it during times when I'm home maybe) - and then the ability to automatically FTP pics from the motion event would be awesome!!! thanks so much -
Hi y'all, my first post in this forum, hopefully I put this in the right spot! needing some advice, I want a few cameras for my home, (driveway, backyard, front door, etc.) to be able to catch neighbor kids coming in my yard, or any other noteworthy event. and the goal is to be able to identify faces. I tried a Samsumg Smartcam HD because of the remote push notification to my phone... which works, sort of... it takes about 10 seconds to trigger the push notification, which then I have to open app (by clicking the notifrication) - then pick the camera, even though there;'s only one, then press live, then press record.... by the time I do that, what I needed to record is potentially gone. So, therefore.... I am looking into DVR systems... and my budget currently will allow: http://www.costco.com/Lorex-4-Channel-HD-Analog-DVR-with-1TB-HDD%2c-4-1080p-Cameras-with-130'-Night-Vision.product.100237625.html so, it says it can do push notifications... Just wondering if anyone knows, if the recording could ALSO be sent to cloud (only on motion events) just in case DVR was taken? any other alternatives??? and I dont wish or need to use a TV, I want internet monitoring either from a computer and/or my iphone... and I really would like recording to happen on motion events... and trigger a notification to my phone, and preferably be able to have that pic/video somewhere outside the home any thoughts? thanks in advance for any help!
