d-tech started following 32 camera DVR, Advice for Vivotek ST7501, Acti or Vivotek? and and 5 others
-
the vivotek has a very important feature called WDR (Wide Dynamic range) This means it deals with low light and high light in the same picture much better than a normal cam. This comes into affect when you have vehicles driving in at night time. The headlights will have a LESS blinding affect to the cam than normal. IMO the Acti does not perform well at all in megapixel res so dont let this unfluence you decisison (vivotek 640x480). When under high res the shutter speed seems slow so objects blur. Like it doesnt have progressive scan. This gets way worse when you work with lower frame rate.

Advice for Vivotek ST7501
d-tech replied to d-tech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
thing is, i have done this with machines up to 20cams. and it was fairly good, now the machines i will be using are much better spec so i was hoping to find out if someone had done this... thanks -
i am looking for some advice regarding the free vivotek management software ST7501. The reccomended specs are to NOT to run the recording server & client app on one machine if you are running 32cams. Now i have a setup for 38 cams and i am thinking of running one machine with 32 cams recording and with it the viewing client connecting to other 6. So this should be minumal stress on the system. The other machine will record 6 cams and connect to the other to display 32. Does this make sense or should i loose money and run seperate viewing stations? Machines are Dell optiplex 960 quad cores, 4GB ram

Geo-NVR and Max IP Megapixel Cameras
d-tech replied to protecvideo's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
have you done this yet? The GV MP IP cam does not stream more than 15flps at MP res apperently. I heard Geovision has set up a big quad core machine and they have not put on more than 8 MP cams -
Vivotek - Large install
d-tech replied to d-tech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
thanks I havnt been able to get that software to automatically start on reboot and auto record. perhaps you could help me with that? -
hey guys, I have got a fairly large project i am looking at installing Vivotek IP cams. about x 90. Using models IP7131 or IP7138. has anyone got experience with these cams on a large scale. Should i be expecting any problems with running them on a dedicated network with about 5 switches? Thanks!!

ispy vision: how have you found that 1704? Quick and easy to set up IP cams? have you tried an Axis megapixel with it? if so what frame rate u get? Back to the orginal question on the Eb-nets embedded boxes. Iv sold and isntalled loads. brilliant reliable easy to use product. nice alternative to pc and card. thats if the client only wants simple functionality. Recomendation:dont use D1 setting if remote viewing! slows down tremendously and does not give worthwhile quality.

Avermedia is quite popular and they have launched there 16ch realtime PCI express cards. You can put two in a PC and therefore = 32ch. The cool thing is they will handle 640x480 (d1?) in realtime! most other manufacturers cant offer you this...

I have used the axis 207MW on avermedia machines and it works but with bad frame rate. As mentioned in this post the new PCi express range will handle it better but im not sure how much better. dont expect more than 10fps from what iv seen.

Megapixel IP cam - bad frame rate?
d-tech posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi guys, new to the forum(from South Africa). looking forward to dispensing some advice as well as recieving it What is your experience with running megapixel IPcams on Software/NVR's or Hybrid machines? We mainly use avermedia but have never had an IP cam run at realtime through the system (axis 206/207/207MW/210/211) Even when turning the res down to 320x240. Is there any software or NVR/DVR that can handle a megapixel cam at full res in realtime? or are we simply not at that stage in technology? Thanks
