Why so hard to get PDA client support for DVRs?

Yeah but Pocket PC apps and Windows XP apps are totally different. Dont know if wine works with pocket PC apps? Also all the apps I tried in Wine didnt come close to working. That is why I said that it is a wishful thinking..

Why so hard to get PDA client support for DVRs?

True, but if you have an enterprise system with managed router, then you have authenticate mac address, the special key assigned and then register the IP address allowing access... If you are in different places with Eee, then you are using different access point IP.. With PDA, you are online all the time and the IP does not change (you can have such service)... and this way you can have access all the time..

Why so hard to get PDA client support for DVRs?

Yup... great idea and it works... except that you can not lag this pc anywhere and may connect to systems as long as the IP address from outside is authorized.. As for the PDA, it is a clumsy hardware and yet works better than Eee for this application.. go figure.. at least I found a decent use for PDA... I'd like to see this application to work with IPOD or even latest Google version smart phone through T-Mobil service... I know there will be no chance with IPOD, but because Google version software (I am sure you know it is called Android) that works on Linus, there is a remote chance that it may take latest WINE v1.0... Man, if they (Google) only allow this app to work, then you can add as many windows applications as the memory in this phone will allow... Wishful thinking, but at least a wish anyway

Why so hard to get PDA client support for DVRs?

The only one I had a chance to test is avail from American Dynamics VideoEdge product line... and here is the url: http://www.americandynamics.net/WebApps/getDocument.aspx?filename=8200-0886-01_A0_Cx_Mobile_Alert_User_Manual.pdf It does work as long as the PDA is registered within LAN or WAN respectively. As long as you are in the network, you are in... and not only you will have a chance to view video, but also control PTZ cameras, etc... Here is basic script about this product: With the Cx Mobile Alert software, we are providing the user with the extra ability to be mobile and still be able to monitor all of his/her cameras and to receive Motion Detection alerts. With Cx Mobile Alert, the user will allow the user to log into all of his/her VideoEdge NVR Servers and will be able to receive alerts, perform Search and Playback functions, and PTZ the cameras using any PDA or Smart Phone working with Windows® MobilePC® 4.2 or higher. I know that others make similar solutions and read about them, but never had an opportunity to test...

    Bosch DiBos Install

scorpion, I know your comments were not referring to me... In any event, what will be very interesting to know is which DiBos version DVR straycat intends to use... This system is the best Hybrid that we ever used... You can configure this system up to 30 Analog ports (banks of six channel can activate based on hardware addition and software license key) and up to 32 IP cameras. It uses XP OS for its configuration and the application is fairly easy to learn. The specs are great but in the real world and if you populate all the analog ports and max 20 IP cameras (you better have healthy bandwidth to handle this type of workload), you should consider some serious amount of storage requirements. Its ease of assigning network storage anywhere withing LAN is probably on of the easiest scheme that we have seen and yet, works great... And no, you can not use all the 32 IP cameras simultaneously and anything over 20 IP cameras, the only way to reach this level is to have fiber channel based network assigned only for this DVR... Many ways to configure this system and it is mainly dependent what your application is... You really can push this box to some extreme resolution and they use 4 CIF highest available at this time... and the picture quality is exceptionally great. Ability to zoom on existing video on the fly is yet another neat feature... and zoom function works very well.. What can I say, besides its high cost (as the only negative that I can see), there is nothing else bad I can say about this box...
  6. We tried the same for a while... Since AD changes manufacturers often, it is very difficult to keep up who makes it and what part they use, including power supplies. Few years ago it was easy - we were able to read names and numbers from the power supplies and found few suppliers who actually stocked them.. However, manufacturers again were changed and now from what we have seen, no writing were found or usable info from replaceable parts. I do not think you can even buy this part directly from AD... Dependent when you bought them, they use to come with three years warranty and only a year ago that the warranty was dropped to one year... so, what I will suggest you do is to call their customer service, give them the product code and the serial number and they should be able to tell you if it is still under warranty.... and it does not matter where you may have bought it.. I know that some distributors were selling these monitors with one year warranty even though it came with three years AD warranty at one point of time... so it is worth to try and see if they may still be covered by AD warranty. Which model LCDs are you using? Even though AD's current warranty policy states one year, they will honor warranty of older monitors if they still are covered... Give it a try and let us know.

    Bosch DiBos Install

Fairly straight forward install... nothing really anything special about it.. If you run into any stag, let us know...

    Going to trial

You have the video evidence and that is all... Dependent who this xxx is represented, chances are good that they will question the authenticity of the video... and dependent who the manufacturer of your DVR is, your best bet is to obtain this manufacturer papers showing difficulty, if not impossibility, in altering video content... and present your case. More important question for you is what is it that you want this case to produce for you? Do you want this person to go to jail (very unlikely) or do you want to impose a restitution for the crime imposed against you? Are you pursuing criminal case or civil case? Too many variables avail dependent what you are trying to gain...

Extremely disapointed with Extreme repair service

Most likely they are counting their $90+ million dollars daily basis that they received from Bosch... and obviously forgetting what their responsibilities are... I have seen major slow down on their tech support and delivery of equipment and it is defenitely due to rearrangements of their stuff and protocol with Bosch... I am sure once Bosch takes full control, none of this will happen again... When calling them and not getting your response, ask for managers... that always helps...

    Kalatel Cyberdomes and Sensormatic?

Then the only way this will work is the converter box from Sennetech... valboosky, you can answer this question if I may.. Does ADMPLT16 support Pelco "D" protocol?

    Google Chrome (BETA) for Windows

Yup, I remember the problems associated with license to use Chrome... I personally do not think that they "forgot" to look at such license clause and hoped that people will not read them.... I also do not think that it was unintentional either... Large corporation do not make big mistakes like license clause unintentionally... I have been using it for over a week now.. and I am very impressed. Speed of extracting content from the WEB is very fast... Considering the fact that I used basically everything out there in the past, Chrome has shown a potential to be the best web browser yet...

    Kalatel Cyberdomes and Sensormatic?

Sorry, but I am not sure what you mean by EIM box... Matrix switch is a gadget that allows you to combine and control number of cameras and domes using single or multiple keyboards... Here is what it may look like: http://americandynamics.net/products/matrix_MegaPower_LT.aspx If you do not have matrix switch, then what you have is ADTT16E keyboard that is directly connected to your domes via S-Net data connection (or protocol is what AD likes to use).
  14. CCTV_Suppliers

    Need your advise please.

I will try to answer this... Which product or the product company are you referring to? Do you have the info on such products and the manufacturers names or are you looking for a solution? Let us know.

    Kalatel Cyberdomes and Sensormatic?

Well, all you have is the ADTT16E touchtracker, which can control up to 16 ultradome cameras... If you have ADTTE, then you also should have matrix switch... Which one is it? The reason is that if you have a matrix switch and dependent which one, you can assign the cyberdome to work with Pelco D protocol, which certain Sensormatic matrix switches will recognize... However, if you have only a keyboard, ADTT16E), then you must get the code converter from Sennetech... OR... Here is what I suggest you do... consider American Dynamics ADMPLT16 matrix switch, which will work with your ADTTE keyboard. I do not have the time to check, but something tells me that this matrix switch works with S-NET, RS485, RS262 and I think also Pelco D... The pricing should be lower than the converter from Sennetech... Give AD tech support a call and ask them if ADMPLT16 works with Pelco D protocol... If so, then you are home free... as I know that GE Cyberdomes can be configured to operate with various communication protocols, including Pelco D Here is AD tech support number (800-507-6268 and then #2

    Kalatel Cyberdomes and Sensormatic?

Sennetech makes converters for various type of domes vs. matrix switch protocols... I will not recommend it yet... Dependent which Sensormatic switch that you may have, there is a fairly good chance that you can control GE Cyberdomes... and without any converters....

Which Sensormatic matrix switch are you using?

anyone use Bosch/Phillips Hiq or Divar?

Very few reports from our end and even then, Bosch overnight parts swap service (the best in the industry) makes someone to forget that there was a problem

Yes... Do you have any questions?

    Sensormatic = Robot?

It should if the wiring is done correctly.. Just check the manual and it covers all the basis..
  21. CCTV_Suppliers

    Sensormatic = Robot?

You are fine... I do not think you will see much of any difference in performance, as you probably are using ADTT16E touchtracker, which is directly connected to your domes... unless.. if it is being routed through the multiplexer... very rare, but possible... Let us know...

    Need help clueless!

This is no brainer... and I know quite of few people that started using this concept and eventually moved up to actual recorder (when their multiplexers actually died) They are fairly cheap and available from Sanyo, GE, Bosch and even Ganz.. Here are some model to consider: 1. Sanyo DSR-300 - this model does not come with hard drive... You add what you need up to 500GB of PATA drive and it works... 2. Sanyo DSR-M810 - more expensive than above (mainly used by casinos).. again, no hard drive and you can add what you need. 3. Bosch DVR1A1081 - very simple system and comes with built in 80GB hard drive 4. Bosch DVR1C1161 - same as above and comes with 160GB hard drive. All these options come with full three years warranty... All these options come with Internet ready option. My personal preference is the first option.. It sales around $300 and the user can add whatever size hard drive then need... Very simple to add hard drive and it does not void warranty...

I do agree with your assessment too.. we are talking about the same thing... I have seen cases where lawyers were involved and they had pending cases in the court systems... and yet, one of the involved party decided to take the opposing party aside and put a real sense into their heads and it worked... I am all for having to pursue this if possible... rather than going through lawyers, courts, etc... At the end, someone is paying for these services and majority of people do not pursue as such when they find out how much such costs could be... If someone is pursuing this type of case because of a principal, then that is fine as long as they understand that it is not easy and it can not happen without spending money...

You are fine with your 250' cable run... and you can push it maximum of 1,000'... Just make sure that you get quality cables...

Lolo Wolf, you should always explore settlement way before it involves attorneys, court systems or experts... I will if I am in the same situation and make the opposing party understand the situation that will cost them more. Again, it is a choice and option and nothing more.. You can disagree as much as you want, but I have seen people after many arguments and calling each other names, were able to sit down as decent human beings and reason...
