American Dynamics Speeddome Optima PTZ Camera
CCTV_Suppliers replied to dopalgangr's topic in Security Cameras
I will say so... they are cheaper than the Ultra series and yet deliver all the functionality... the camera/lens combination, dependent which one you need, does a fairly decent job... You will have the choice to use several protocols to control this dome from RS485, RS422, S-NET, Pelco P, Pelco Coaxitron and few others... -

Virtual Matrix gives a choice... I personally will not recommend it for any setup with less than 96 cameras and besides, if you already have your matrix switch, why change it? But if you had a choice when your matrix switch decides to quit and compare pricing for another switch, which by the way must be MP3200 variation, then deal with typical cabling issues, programming, learning new platform, etc., then it should make an economical sense, at least that is my interpretation. Each setup could be configured different using specific size monitor... Imagine this.. instead of using tube monitors, which still are in use and still available, you can have few 30" LCD monitors hanged with articulating arm and adjusted for best viewing and giving someone panoramic view of the entire facility and yet, all the connections are through a single workstation and network cable.. and then if you need to view anything remotely, then standard Network Client will suffice... Again, I rather have choices than someone's ancient technology and have a technological platform that is a forward looking for future changes and newer technologies.... Remember, with this setup, you also can integrate your IP solutions, as this type of platform comes in with open architecture.. Regardless if you bring in NVR in the mix and end up using video encoders or IP solution, this platform does not have to change... just add, plug, configure and you are ready to rock and roll. This is a confirmation of very extensive and expensive tests that were conducted outside of this manufacturer control and there are absolutely no bias of any sort that is or will be shown in this solution. If we were to follow this solution according to this manufacturer specifications, then overall solution will be cost prohibitive and there is not fun to talk about it. We have (4) of these systems ready for delivery to very high profile customer this upcoming week. The initial tests actually blown them away, as this customer realized the major cost savings compared to very expensive matrix switch that was recommended by others. -

Comart Systems Linux Based DVR
CCTV_Suppliers posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hey guys, want to share my first build of non-major brand system build ever... It is very funny that a problems caused by one of our manufacturers lead us to development and a build something totally different... Quick background.. We were selling systems from a Korea based company called Digital Logic. They built systems for basic application – Linux based, very stable, easy to use and easy to operate DVR systems for many years... Few months ago, well, they packed their bags and left the country and left quite of few customers, including ourselves, in the limbo... We never built a PC based capture card systems before – not that we did not want it, rather most of our customers did not care for them. When Digital Logic came around over 6 years ago, they provided a system that filled a very specific niche market that we never really done much about. Before we knew, we already sold over 500 systems and it was expanding... Well, that was the good news... the bad news was that when this company left the market, we almost held the bag until we received help from few people that make the difference... First off, thanks to Rory... all we had was a simple part number that did not produce much of results in Google... Rory did make the suggestion who the maker of the capture card was and here is the manufacturer - http://www.comartsystem.com/AM/ - Thereafter, everything was just downhill.. After contacting this manufacturer, who also is a Korean based manufacturer and was located 15 minutes away from our warehouse, we confirmed that Digital Logic boxes were using their capture cards... that was the second positive result that we encountered. They immediately identified the software as well – The company who is making them is yet another Korean company... Because their application is riding on the Linux software and they are using latest kernel, it was easy to add or change components in the older or newer system and the drivers are already available. They also make Windows based application – the same touch and feel, but I rather stay with Linux based solution – stability does count in so many levels. After few weeks of tinkering around with few of the defective systems, we realized also that Digital Logic was always using the same software that they started using 6 years ago... even though newer versions provided more versatility and ease of use... Happy to tell you that after going on this motion of finding the right capture board maker, the software and playing around with the system to understand its limitations, now we can repair and even build similar systems for the same platform.. As matter of fact we are using a totally different Intel chipset motherboard from ECS than what Digital Logic or even Comart Systems recommended and it is more stable and faster than any of the systems we ever had.... If anyone cares for more info for this system, please let me know. I am not familiar with Geo or any other similar manufacturer based solutions... but it is interesting area that somehow now makes sense to get involved.. Costs aside, I care more for stability, ease of use and then ease of operation for end users and this model somehow did capture my interest even though it was based on a necessity. Comart Systems also have cards from 4 channel to 16 channel that push 30FPS per channel... and that is yet another area that we will explore.. not that it is important for out end users, rather experimentation to view and playback at that rate is something that I have not seen with our conventional equipment form major manufacturers. Rory, I did tell you that you were instrumental to get this fix for me didn't I? Thanks man... I only hope that I can return the favor one of these days. -
Hey bud, I will take it if it is still avail... please PM for details...
-
Val, you held up well... and you should be proud... You still need to brush up on your info on the latest hardware and some of the trick with this system... Things change every week for us, so without commenting on some of your latest observations and if you want, get in touch with me via PM... By the way, we are the developers for the IntelleView software!

Val, you are taking this in a wrong way, but I can and will challenge you every step of the way on anything Intellex, if you want and here are some of my thoughts... You are misinterpreting what I said about the hardware dependency... If you have done millions of these, then you know that dependent when systems are built, it always comes with a different motherboard with different chipsets and not necessary Intel motherboards that will only work with Intellex - I am sure this you do not know... Your stated Easton, Bayfield, Brownsville and Winnipeg motherboards are what you used and that is all you know... and with a good reason... you were never been exposed outside of the box. Do you even know what the true technological differences are between these motherboards? I am sure the member that posted his request and was able to get an adequate answers did help him and that is where such info is important. But, please do not use AD nonsense on hardware and software requirements vs. revision updates or upgrades. You go by your book and what it states and the reality is actually and totally different. Here is what you need to know... If the motherboard did not come with enough computing power, that includes processor, RAM and video cards, your upgrade will not work... as every revision of the Intellex not only comes with "fixes", but also additional features that require more memory, more processing power and even more video memory. Here are simple questions that will challenge your knowledge across the board... regardless which version of the Intellex that you worked with in the past or presently (excluding Intellex Ultra), what is the maximum INTERNAL storage Intellex can have? If you can answer this correctly, then you will gain a serious points with me... Here is another challenge question for you... Which Intellex models work with DVD burner vs. CD burner and why? Do you want to go on? Val, I do not want to make you feel bad, but I want you to know that what your spec books defines is not the reality, rather an assumption and if your training and knowledge is based on it, then I do understand your limitations... Heck, I probably would have known as much about the Intellex behind AD closed doors as you, except when you truly understand the Intellex platform, then you will come to realization that Intellex actually can do tremendously more than the stock models...

Good luck... should not be any problems... just make sure you put in a better power supply than the unit came with...
-
Shawn, you are lucky... you hardware was for this type of upgrade... and congrads... I have seen too many of these older machines that were original 2.0 and were upgraded to 2.21 and none of the qualified to 2.59 BECAUSE SUCH SOFTWARE UPGRADE IS HARDWARE DEPENDENT. As for the CD burner, none that AD recommends are avail in the market... Actually there are close to 24 of them that suppose to work and none you can find, unless if you can scrape the bottom of the barrel and find something in E-Bay... I think I have some of those older ones on hand and they should be brand new... If you want them, send me PM...

Hey bud, after all the show and tell, are you going to show us how you did it and made Rory a living god
-
alanjh, if you have to change the power supply, do not use anything less than 450W... and make sure that the power supply has at least 75% efficient. The standard power supplies AD uses are substandard power supplies and they fail more often than usual... regardless if they are installed in LT series or DVMS series. Also while at it, make sure you add additional fans on the front (behind the face cover) and in the back near the processor... In addition, when you are selecting the power supply, make sure it comes with several of its own fans, mainly make sure you have 120mm main fan... It will help also to change the ribbon cables and use rounded PATA cables and tywrap all the cables closer to the chasis... This way you have more air flow and life expectancy will be much higher than the standard hardware in such systems. It makes absolutely no on selection of the power supply based on type of Intel motherboard used...
-
Val, you are missing my point... As many of these systems you saw, I do not think you had a chance to view this problem from end user stand point... Please find my answers to your observations above!

Powering down and up quickly - I do not understand... Did you have a power outage and then it came back up?? Which model number is it? Do you know how to turn it on besides power cord? If this is a desktop version, right on the middle of the face cover, there should be (2) small holes - one is to turn on the Intellex and the second one is to restart the Intellex... The hole closer to the LEDs above is the one that you can use to startup Intellex - just use a paper clip... the hole below it is for restart, just in case if you need to... If it is a rack mountable case, then power up sequence is different, but it is easier. When you turn it on, do you see any startup of BIOS setting, etc.? If not, there is a very good chance that your power supply gave in... and that is very simple to replace.. I will not recommend to go to AD unless if you absolutely have to... and of course, if it is under warranty. When did you buy this unit? Remember, their warranty covers everything for (3) years except hard drives, that come with (2) years warranty.

Val, what you are suggesting is a hardware dependent upgrade... and dependent when this 2.21 was manufactured or better yet, when it was upgraded to 2.21 from its previous versioni, there is very good chance that 2.59 version will not work.. It is worth trying, but once the upgrade does not go through, he looses everything.. and of course, AD will not give him a free SW key... Shawn, do you have the original 2.21 restore CDs by any chance? Shawn, when you go to setup section and looking at your storage.. how much storage do you show? Also, check the mode of the recording... and make sure it is recording "circular" mode instead of "linear" mode. There is a good chance that if it was selected "linear" mode, then when recording reaches to the last stage of the storage, it will stop recording..

There should be a button in the middle lower of the screen allowing you to play back recorded video or use the search button... Something in the system is tweaked not allowing the play button not to display and that is possible in their setup area... This system is either based on Win95 or Win98 dependent on the build... Please give me some more info and I will have answers for you... like system setting through setup area, etc...

Why not add IR illuminator instead? This model of minidome has limitations on what it can see at night and with limited lighting conditions. Once you add IR illuminator, then you increase IR source, thus picture quality will improve. I know that this is yet another piece of hardware you have to add, but it is better than changing with a different model unit...

Shawn, when you log into Intellex, are you using any password? Normally Intellex can have one admin and as many users as you want. Admin can program what functions are to be avail for which user... I think that your user privileges were limited by the admin settings... If you have the admin log password, you can change it... or bypass it completely and reset all the passwords... Dependent what your answers are, then I can send you PM on how to reset all the passwords.. thereafter, you can log in as admin and full control on all the functions of this Intellex...

Rory, you are the man... my vote goes for you!

You know it... nothing gets trashed and still will be avail in a future...

This has been around for fairly long time now... The first discussions on this technology actually surfaced at least 12 years ago. This is not a recent news, just people are getting surprised that every time you print, you leave behind wealth of information on the paper... The only thing that can not be identified that who the user is, unless the user makes it obvious with their personal information on the front of the page... Printer manufacturers have been trying this technology even with Dot Matrix era and were fairly successful... With Laser technology, well they made things even easier... The question is not why such technology exists - rather, who actually cares to identify them and what are their intentions? At least my two cents of the day...

CCTV DVRs, Software, PTZ training courses
CCTV_Suppliers replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
I know about these guys... the only gotcha is that you have to pay for such training courses... and this is something that most have been resisting. I mainly am looking for providing free training courses and have them available all the time and without any restrictions... Thanks much bud..
