Help with AD American Dynamics Intellex v4.3, PIN reset?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to Natsuaga's topic in System Design
You keep mentioning that you bought the software - is it restore CD set, Network client or you actually bought Intellex system with version 4.3??? Let us know... -
Here is one that performs repairs for all versions of Ultra Domes - http://everythingcctv.com/clearance-repairs/sensormatic-ultra-dome-repair-service.html - repair comes with (1) one year exchange warranty.

Well, you changed the motherboard - which comes with new MAC address... plus needs new drivers for your Intellex system.. the problem is that version 2.5 came with Win98 OS and you are mentioning that currently it has Win2000... was there restoration of version 2.6 may be or version 3.2?? There are few problems with this upgrade and since you only have software key for version 2.5, which is tied to old motherboard MAC address, chances are good that you will not be able to make this system to work. Intellex systems are complicated platform and requires too much of details to be adhered to before it can function... changing the motherboard itself is a problem unless if you can have Intellex to adhere to its new drivers and even then, find SW key that will match with MAC address... Hope this helps...

GE Digia may be old, but repairable... Most of the time is what hard drives what goes out. Since it has proprietary firmware (or software), it is self configurable... what you need to try is to remove the existing hard drives and install new fresh drives - if the system does not have power supply problem (rare), it should reconfigure your drive and have it available for storage... it will not recognize windows or any other format - instead its own. Give it a shot and let us know.

IP cameras and market pricing
CCTV_Suppliers posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am interested to find out what is the current pricing and who is providing the best value for IP cameras... My personal focus is on minidomes rather than brick version cameras. 1. What is hot and what is not for regular IP cameras no less than 480TVL and preferably H.264 stream? We are seeing many newer companies offering more and more solutions at this level. Lets have three different categories for this option from sub-$200, sub-$300 and less than $500 level solutions available. 2. Megapixel minidome cameras - will be very interesting to find out what is really out there for up to 2MP level. Most customers do not see the benefit (or better yet, can not afford the cost) of higher MP cameras out there... thus, for the purpose of this thread, I am interested what is out there that is up and coming and could potentially make a dent on this market. For the sake of discussion, I'd like to keep the major manufacturers out, including Axis, Arecont, Bosch and others.. Thanks in advance! -
Help. I have accidently deleted intellex 2.6 storage drive
CCTV_Suppliers replied to jimmelvin's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The above statement is incorrect.... First off read what the member said about using XP operating system with older version Intellex, which only is available on Intellex version 4.x... and statement that version 2.6 is actually LT version of 3.2, is not true. That may have been the intention of your company, American Dynamics, over ten plus years ago but in actuality, they did not deliver it. You company immediately went to version 3.0, which yes, came with LT version. Their initial attempt to make Intellex version 2.6 to work with Win2000 operating system was a total disaster due to hardware limitations. Lets solve the problem for the user first and ask him how he can run Intellex version 2.6 in XP environment.... Actually, if he is savvy, it is possible and he can even go to Win7 too and still use Intellex version 2.6... all related to hardware limitations and drivers going from one OS to another. Even though there is no advantage of any sort on changing OS, true possibility is there. -
Help. I have accidently deleted intellex 2.6 storage drive
CCTV_Suppliers replied to jimmelvin's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Intellex version 2.6 operates on Windows 98 - and not on Windows XP. Intellex version 4.x is the platform that work with XP only... version 5.0 works on Win7 If you upgraded OS only, chances are very good that your system will not work. Such upgrade will re-write all the registry entries and then also change the SW key... which then will diminish system's integrity. Not sure what are you trying to do... but no such thing for XP OS to be running on Intellex version 2.6 -

Power Supply Suggestion for 16 channel 12VDC
CCTV_Suppliers replied to ulterior_motive's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Has anyone suggested B-tron power supplies? - http://www.b-tron.com/versamain.html Same specs, same life time warranty and better pricing than Altronix.. I have been using both Altronix and B-tron equal basis.. Some customer prefer Altronix and others B-tron. B-tron actually sells more with OEM manufacturers under different names. Both are great manufacturers and offer excellent support. -

Hey bud, this is CCTV guy from Southern California Looks like you have done most of everything that I would have done... Did you make sure to assign master/slave configuration of the hard drives when you installed? If so, just double check it anyway... also, change the ribbon cables just to be on the safe side. I recommend rounded ATA cables instead of ribbon type - gives us more flexibility in routing such cables. Here is a rounded ATA cable - http://computersupplyhouse.us/cables/ide-cable-for-hdd-18-inch-ultra-ata-for-intellex-v2-2.html - and I am sure you can find it locally.. make sure they are 18" in length... or find and replace the the ribbon cable with new set. I have seen the cable causing some serious problems in recognizing drives. Here is what you do next - make sure you have the latest firmware and if not, please download it from UTC - http://www.utcfssecurityproductspages.eu/videoupgrades/downloads/StoreSafe-ProII.zip - follow the instructions very carefully. Once you update the firmware, then it should work just fine unless... Can you tell me amperage of your power supply? If it is reading less than 7.5A, it may be the problem. The older power supplies came with 5.0A configuration and they were fine as long as you had 80GB or 160GB... but when the storage went up higher, these power supplies failed, so GE came up with new power supplies pushing 7.5A. That solved the necessity for more amperage for hard drives. So, please start testing the system in the same order that I mention above and let us know the results. Good luck... -
For over a year, we are using SSD drives for OS and applications and SATA drives for storage most of the time. In few occasions, we built a complete SSD based solution, including storage... extremely expensive, but there is a limited market out there. Besides, SSD pricing has been coming down and chances are very good that in few years, most of the hard drives will be available on SSD format. We mostly use OCZ SSD drives. Used Intel, but serious issues - and very limited support from Intel.

GE Storesafe Hard Drive Replacement

I have not used Sata converter for this unit in the past - rather used and still using regular ATA drives... Capacities vary based on need for total storage... These drives are still available in the market... here: http://computersupplyhouse.us/hard-drives Also, dependent on how old your units are, it is also very crucial to change the external power supply to 7.5A version - We have seen too many fail over the years... the part number is - PSU-7.5 -
GE Storesafe Hard Drive Replacement
CCTV_Suppliers replied to HDguy's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It is very possible that the power supply is not providing necessary power... I am not sure if your current rating is correct, but there are only two power supplies available for this unit - first one is 5.8A and the second one is 7.5A.. Chance are good that by replacing the power supply to 7.5A version could fix the problem.. the part number is PSU-7.5... -
