what kind of camera is suitable for classroom?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to jasmilelv's topic in Security Cameras
Legality aspect aside (which you should find out for sure), a typical classroom can take from 1 to up to 3 cameras... Size of the classrooms could make the determination on number of cameras needed. Working with our local school districts in the past and also presently, minidome format cameras is what is popular... they are vandal proof, so that when kids start throwing item to the camera, it can survive... and also if you want color or B&W cameras... Each district works different and their requirement vary a lot... Some must have color some prefer B&W due to costs... As for the recorders, we sold and even donated embedded type of systems that are extremely easy to use and easy to operate. Dependent where you are located and what your requirements are, we can put together a package that can be very cost effective, plus some equipment that we will be willing to donate. We do have restrictive programs with our manufacturers that allow such move from our part, but we look at case by case basis... The entire package can not be donated, but portions are possible.. and it could be DVRs, minidomes, cameras, lenses, etc... If interested, please let me know. -
Web based PTZ camera controller
CCTV_Suppliers replied to LongHill's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
The simple answer to your question is "yes"... However, what will help to make accurate assessment is for you to provide details of your setup... The make and the models of your motorized camera equipment, the camera controller, your digital video server, etc.. This way you can have several options that could work, rather just one.. There are no "fix all" or generic solutions that anyone can recommend that will work without clear understanding of the components of your system. Please let us know and I am sure there will be others who will jump in... -

Yes, please initiate the dome to restart or go home... this should reset most of everything unless you already programmed certain patterns or sequences... You also can do a complete hardware reset that should take you to factory default... and the chances are very good that tinkering with this dome could have caused certain electronics parts within the internal boards to act up.. thus causing the temperature to rise... as they are working extra hard to perform a task, even though you may not be using such task. We learned very expensive lessons when we worked with this, as well as the previous domes, the matrix switches and even their Intellex platforms... At one point, we are able to fully understand and to repair or modify such platforms, but for ULTRA 8, well, not yet...

Hacking to firmware remotely? Wow.. that is news to me considering the fact that I am a hardware engineer by the trade... Do you even know or understand what it takes to get into the system firmware? Man, sometimes I read certain posts here that I am totally surprised... I am not going to push this any further than the following and this is a food for thought for you... YOU CAN NOT GET INTO THE FIRMWARE REMOTELY OF THIS UNIT OR ANY MAJOR MANUFACTURER UNIT THAT OFFERS EMBEDDED SYSTEMS WITH OTHER THAN WINDOWS AND LINUX OS!... What made many so secure is machine language OS that was used by DM, GE, Sanyo, Panasonic and few others... These type of systems are based on what sometimes are referred to "low level language" and to hack into it locally is a serious task providing you even know what you are doing... If these were Windows or Linux based, there is a fair amount of chance for it, not on machine language... most of which are etched into EPROMs anyway and with tie to a flash memory for minimal change (which also is tied to GUI that communicates with the flash, but still dictated exactly what your EPROM contains...) I do not want to loose you or anyone else here with all technical mumble jumble, but my technical point is not reversible... and yes, I can take your dollar any day -
Lou, it is an excellent question, but I don't think you will like my answer... If you had a chance to view the internals of this dome, you can confirm how tight everything is installed and for a good reason.. any deviation from its present setup could cause the system to, well, not work right.. We attempted several time to play with this dome by changing lenses, etc.. and always run into a glitch that AD refused to help to correct... so, it was a costly, yet realistic test that was conclusive at least to us not to play around with its camera/lens placement... (internal belts alignments are very crucial to how these camera and lens combination really works). Besides, if this product is in warranty, changing the lens also will void such warranty... and then you have a pile of silicon junk with an optics that works as a basic fixed camera

Dependent on what software you intend to use, my recommendation will go with Bosch vez-021-hwcs AutoDome® Easy Compact PTZ Camera with 10X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom... Very small size and works exceptionally well.. I have one testing right now and it is well worth Here is its spec sheet: http://fe0wap86.bosch.de/intershoproot/eCS/Store/all/ST_NA/lit1/AutoDomeEasyCom_DataSheet_enUS_F3882511627.pdf This above dome is part of AutoDome Easy series and priced well for what it delivers and with full 3 years warranty.

CCTV_Suppliers replied to NoFinga911's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Do you want to make a dollar bet I know precisely what you are saying and I know that with little effort, any system could be compromised IF THEY ARE BASED ON WINDOWS OR LINUX OS... When we are dealing with machine language based OS or sometime called "firmware" based OS, no chance there at all... Why you think military mainly using firmware based system in their mission critical applications? -

I am a big fan of embedded, but don't embelish the truth . If someone has the knowledge, the time, and the ability to hack into your windows machine, they'll figure out how to do something to your sanyo remotely. Eitherway, it would be more likely for someone to steal your DVR then try to hack it. At least with a PC Based you can use NAS storage and hide your Hard Drive in the Attic! Again, I perfer embedded, but I just wanted to show you both sides of the coin (if that's how the metaphor goes?!). I beg different please... The Sanyo DVR is not based on Windows embedded OS or Linux code... rather it is a firmware based system riding on a flash card that you or anyone else can not break or change regardless how smart someone may be... the only way to do that is to be on the front of the machine, have tools and firmware machine to allow any sort of change. Even then, try to break into the firmware if you can - very difficult, but not impossible. Trust me when I say this - to know how good your machine is, is to hack it and with this box from Sanyo, nobody can, unless you have everything you need with such box on hand. I will not say the same with any machine that is riding Windows or Linux based systems regardless if they are installed on hard drives or even on flash... I am sure there may be an argument how to break Windows riding on Flash, but it is doable... -
Help with a DVR that fits my needs...
CCTV_Suppliers replied to NoFinga911's topic in Digital Video Recorders
There are options available that will fit the bill... performance and all... Obviously you want something simple and easy to use and yet, that works when you needed... My suggestion is to take probably the most cost effective major brand DVR in the market from Sanyo.. Even though the model that I will refer comes with 6 camera inputs, the price is within the range and it comes with 3 years warranty. The 80GB configuration of this system could fit your price range... Not sure if you can take PM, but you can contact our company with the url listed below my message and they will take care of you. The model number for this DVR from Sanyo is DSR-3506H80.. This model is a stand alone or sometime referred as "embedded" system and operates on proprietary software from Sanyo.. It does not require any upgrades or updates and is impossible to hack, unlike all the windows based and some of the linux based DVRs. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Thanks, -

How do you guys get over the 300' Cat5 restriction?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
All these questions and you fixed it? Rory, you are not giving us a chance man... My 2 cents on this topic... We do not use CAT5e cable for a long time now. Instead using CAT6e cable, which takes much higher bandwidth and better shielded overall... In the installations it makes sense to use this cable, as long as you have a "forwarding looking" approach... so that in the next 5 or 10 years when newer gadgets come around that will require more bandwidth, you do not have to redo the cable at least.. I found a very well written write up about Cat5e vs. Cat6e comparisons, advantages and disadvantages... and you may have seen it before, but here it goes: http://www.broadbandutopia.com/caandcaco.html Anything higher than Cat6e, you are looking at fiber... -

CCTV_Suppliers replied to griffonsystems's topic in Security Cameras
Try CBC ZC-D3024NHA - very good color minidome with lens that goes from 2mm to 4mm AI... Much cheaper than Pano version -
Rory, I think we are talking to him...

Looks like you are located in U.K... Not sure which one I can recommend, since I do not know how you can get them... Excellent options are avail from Sanyo and CBC, but again, I can not recommend anyone in U.K... sorry. If you want the model numbers, let me know.

Manufacturers with a good price/performance ratio
CCTV_Suppliers replied to glf's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
In order to give you information that makes any sense, what will help is to understand what your application is... There are many high quality products in the market and it is not the best to buy items from the same manufacturer... Rather, pick up the most cost effective options from various manufacturer, thus gaining better performing system than an entire solution from only one manufacturer... There are too many examples available how the above explanation works, but it is very much dependent on what you are trying to do. Obviously the first tier manufacturer products will be more expensive, but not that much, compared with second or third tier manufacturers for a simple reason... Major manufacturers have been then in the past and will be there tomorrow and that also they offer most of their products with full 3 years warranty... Let us know what you want to do and I am sure you will have some good recommendations... Good luck! -
Help with Touch Tracker & Delta Dome
CCTV_Suppliers replied to neptune769's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Dennis, to obtain schematics for this type of hardware is literally impossible. To change components on your touchtracker is not that difficult, but there are some parts that are so old that you will have hard time to find them... mainly the receiver and transmitter chips are where you mostly will have the problems to find them, as they are obsolete for quite of long time... As for the buttons, well that is already a different issue... I do not think you can buy them new, unless if you get your hands on some defective unit that you can get such parts that you probably can get them from e-bay... As for the schematics for the Delta domes... not happening.. These domes are very old and no paperwork is available to my knowledge.. However, changing the power supply (should not be that difficult), some of the gears and some of the power supply regulators could do the trick.. Most of these pictures and schematics are kept in a very secure control and I am not sure if it is possible to get them at all... In our case, we were successful to fix some of these items... Mostly the cause is power supply, regulators and some of its internal gears (for the dome that is)... Hope this helps. -
Collin, your approach in handling this situation is fine with me. I can tell you however that holding a blind eye like this one is not a smart move. You are one of the moderators and we respect that and if this is how you want to handle this situation, then I have nothing else to tell you. Any member, regardless which forum you attend, that has gone out of their ways to hurt other members, scam them out of their money should be identified to keep greatness that this as well as other forums share in their respective industries. Overtime however by allowing this type of behavior can and will cause degradation of trust and integrity, thus causing people to question validity on what this forum and others are in place in the first place. I have nothing against anyone nor you personally nor I will say that you action is right or wrong. You have your direction to follow as moderator and we have ours to be a member. Protecting identities of people of course is one of your responsibilities and that again is your prerogative. But nowhere here it states that anybody that is screwing somebody or had done it before is not welcome and that this forum respects honesty and integrity of all members, which should not apply to Hermin. Every other forum have rules not to get out of line and not to keep anyone that has done illegal business and there are very tough protocols against people like Hermin. If you choose to keep him already knowing who he was and still is, then it is your decision and not what members really want. If you feel that this action from my part warrants extreme move to remove me from this forum, then please let me know. Either way, nothing will stop me or anyone else to pursue people who are scam artists and criminals that should stay out of this as well as other forums. Integrity does count now and ever when handling situation like this and again, it is your and other moderators call what you think is appropriate. Hiding behind new user names to continue their dirty work is not what I like to see, rather identify and make an example for any future attempts from anyone that has done or intends to do the same. Hermin, people know who you are and there is nothing you can do to stop that! Colin, in conclusion, you tell me what you want to do and I will honor that!
