    Single Channel DVR

We still use Sanyo single channel DVR model #DSR-M810 with certain Casinos.. and I think it is matter of time until they start converting completely digital... Very good box and works as intended..

    Speeddome 2000 Control over IP

UMDRanger is correct... and I can add some additional info... Dependent which version of firmware that you have and the I/O board, it may have the early version of the support of Pelco D protocol (Coaxitron technology)... They added this feature around year 2000, so it is dependent if your domes have the newer firmware and I/O board... Sennetech makes many translators or data converters and they work... the part that you need to decide which protocol that you must use and what is your controlling mechanism... It is unclear what your front end control equipment is, so be careful not to order the wrong item. With little more tinkering, you should be able to communicate with this dome's RS422 or RS485 ports... Make sure you have the necessary cables and test... Very difficult to tell you how to do it if the back end control equipment is not identified.

    Stuck on camera selection

Rick, no war at my end.. just clarifying a position who Hermin Sanchez is... He has taken quite of few people in this forum with his scam and I want to make sure that people are aware who they are dealing with... If you choose to work with him, please do so... Respecting this forum and all the members is my priority. This forum is an important part of the security community and with excellent reputation.. By leaving a member like Hermin Sanchez among us is a problem that I am addressing.. It is anyone's call to decide what they want or think of this situation. But I will not stop pursuing this guy now and in the future so that at least he does not have a chance to harm anyone else... Just Google his name and read how he has taken others besides our community... like selling stolen car parts and other scams... and if you want someone like him around and you want to communicate, that is just fine with me... I will beg different on my approach against this crook... If moderators want to lock this post also, no problems... At least people now know who really Hemin Sanchez is...

    Help picking some cameras

Unless if you will have someone at this restaurant available to operate PTZ domes, you are wasting money... Instead, as UMDRanger recommended, place few cameras to cover your parking lot from at least two different angles and that will cover most of the parking area... Dependent on your lighting conditions at this parking lot, you can pick up decent day/night cameras that will give you crisp color picture during the day and b&w picture during the night... As for indoors, we used minidome cameras covering the entire facility, including even the cook's areas... and eight cameras basically is an overage for typical restaurant... I will suggest various manufacturers that produce such hardware and you can insist at least 480TVL color and good AutoIris lens. Building your own system is fine and could save or loose money dependent your choice of computers and software... My angle is different - if you will be operating this and seems that you are computer savvy, then this route is great... and if not, then you other choice is what is called embedded systems that are extremely simple to use, easy to program and are very cost effective... Basically such system have embedded software built into flash, so the hard drives are used strictly to store video... no need for updates or upgrades... If you need recommendations on specific hardware, let us know and I am sure others will also give you more info...

    Home System – 2 External, 8 Internal - $13,000???

Can you please share with us what brand and model of camera equipment was offered to you? Regardless, the quoted price is way too much and yes, they must of drunk something or smoked something else while preparing your quote... Industry average pricing offered by VST-Man sounds right and again it is dependent on your equipment... and it also should include installation... However, once you follow B&W camera equipment path, then the pricing will be much lower... Another area of concern is the one year warranty that they offered... I can tell you that once you follow major brand name camera equipment path, everything that you pick up must come with three years warranty (and even more from others)... Where are you located?

Good answers bud... Only other area that I will expand is usage of the video baluns - you can push 1,000'+ with certain passive video baluns (there is a model of passive balun that we push max 1,500' without any loss of video), if your project calls for...

    Help with GE camera

Hermin, you are not doing a good job to convince me or anyone else and trying to hide behind something that you do not even know how to do it properly... Looks like you are the only member in this forum that is very lonly and plays games to hide and lie to just be around. And, I do not feel sorry for you at all nor anyone else who knows who Hermin Sanchez really is... Here is a url that finalizes my suspicion and it became reality! http://www.whois.ws/whois-com/ip-address/cctvkings.com/ So, this registrar is lying too or you again got cut??? Amazing that you will call yourself names such us "The only Hermin Sanchez that I know in this area has been in Jail since last year. I know of all the scams that he was running, which created many problems for some of us (installers) back then. " Wow, man you are something else and calling yourself scammer... and I am sure I will never find anyone to call themselves that... Man, least you can do is not to put yourself down any further that you have done already... You are a shame to this industry. I will confirm shortly your "jail" status or "back to States" status, and trust me, you are very easy to find... and your tactics in manipulation of website information or trying to hide behind it or trying to change to cover your tracks do not and will never work... You were, still are and always will be a crook and criminal.. People like you are the ones who give all this industry professional a bad name... Stay tunned.. more will follow... I can almost bet that if I were to just to a search in this forum, your name will pup up under this username... which again validates my suspicion.. which is now a reality. Moderators of this forum most likely do not know who you are or may know.. and if not, I will let them know immediately. If they choose to keep you around, then at least people will know who you really are!

    Help with GE camera

Very funny how you can have the reigstrar information avail one day and not there next day... However... I agree with you that he was and still is a crook and will remain as such. Not enough energy could be put in place to make sure that he stay in the jail, if he is in the jail... or was he deported or was he in and out of jail in different states? He was a garbage then and still a garbage today and will remain as such in the minds of the professionals in this forum, as well as in other professional forums. Here is a clear indication how you are contradicting yourself and in a major way... Your post in this forum: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11012&highlight=cctvkings - and you are stating that you just bought this domain name... Here is url for who owns it: http://www.whois.ws/whois-com/ip-address/cctvkings.com/ and with following credentials: Registrar: TUCOWS INC. Whois Server: whois.tucows.com Referral URL: http://domainhelp.opensrs.net Expiration Date: 2008-12-28 Creation Date: 2007-12-28 Last Update Date: 2007-12-28 Name Servers: ns1.lunarmania.com ns2.lunarmania.com Extended Info IP Address: 67.210.98.50 Website Status: inactive Cache Date: 2008-01-05 19:47:53 MST Available Domains Unable to retrieve Available Domains. Whois Registrant: Hermin Sanchez 26 Albert Place Waterbury, CT 06702 US Domain name: CCTVKINGS.COM Administrative Contact: Sanchez, Hermin 26 Albert Place Waterbury, CT 06702 US +1.2037063686 If you say that you are not that crook, as you also described this person, then why are you using his name to purchase a domain name only a week ago?? Was it by chance that you stumble over his name and decided to use him as owner of this domain name or was it something else?? I wander what is the benefit of such ownership, unless... You are not very clear who you really are.. and the above evidence shows it unquestionably... Bad move from your part.. very bad... and playing with the integrity of this forum, which has shown to be very useful for our community! What if anything that you will say to question the above evidence anyway?

    recommendation of a camera

Better option will be a minidome from Sanyo with WD already built in, with AI lens going between 2.6mm - 6.0mm, vandal proof and is designed for this type of application... It is the Sanyo model number VDC-C1574VA and here is the url: http://www.sanyosecurity.com/pdf/cctv/cat/ccd(ntsc)/vdcw1594va.pdf Works great and comes with 3 years warranty...

AVS / Uriel Systems Website Hacked!!

Rory, cmon bud... you know what I am referring to... or is it the New Year spirit that still is around?? Regardless which OS platform you use and how secure it may be (in my view, the FreeBSD is the best), it depends on what software you used to create your website anyway...

    Options other than OEM

You are in the right track bud... OEM crap never really gave the solutions that we most want. No one manufacturer has a "complete" solution.. Everyone have something of everything. The way that we work is to provide very rich mixture of hardware and software from various manufacturers... i.e. CBC, Bosch, Panasonic, Sanyo, American Dynamics, GE Security and few others.. This way you provide better options to your customers by tapping these channels, thus creating your own solutions.. something is more manageable... Besides, with all these brand name manufacturers, you have plenty of support directly or indirectly and combined with 3 years warranty, most of the time helps to close your deals.. unlike OEM crap that usually is no more than 1 year warranty. If you need more info, please PM...

AVS / Uriel Systems Website Hacked!!

Rory, what is not important is the platform... Depending how your manage your platform, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and few others, they all will work with your "application" software, which is what has been compromised according what I read so far. You can have the best of the best platform, but it does not mean that the application running on it will have the same bullet proof environment.. Many applications that you use to create websites are fairly good and some are extremely good.. but then again, it all depends how you write the code or manipulate it to your advantage... You can never have two software engineers agreeing on the same approach in writing and running applications..

FreeBSD for anyone?? Considering the fact that most known websites (Yahoo being one of them) work with this platform, which has proven to be more secure and easier to adopt...
