Newbie needs help with Protocol for System Controller
CCTV_Suppliers replied to tranductruong's topic in General Digital Discussion
What "other" equipment do you want to integrate this controller with? -
According to what I found so far, this is suppose to be available in a price range falling between $900-1200... However, what is not clear yet is the fact that AMD is not stating which existing channels will they push through this new hardware solution. What I want to see eventually is their "complete" PC based on having your processor, your video, RAM controller, etc into a single silicon chip... something that they started talking about roughly a year ago... according to some articles, we apparently will see the first cut of such hardware by end of the next year... but I am not holding my breath...

I thought this could be interesting to post.. referencing AMD's newest platform called "Spider" with new processor, AMD's quad-core Phenom chip, new 7-series chipsets, and new graphics chips for mid to high end applications... http://www.news.com/8301-13579_3-9819123-37.html?tag=nefd.top If anyone gets a chance to test this, please post your observations. I am trying to get a set for myself and if I do so, will share the info.

Are there any reasons to spec Pelco or GE solutions? There are others available that can deliver these type of solutions with better performance such as Bosch and American Dynamics, Panasonic and others... We are familiar with GE SymSecure IP based solution... but this is fairly new series of products.. and not mature enough to say that it works without any pitfalls... I normally will wait and watch others putting their hand in the fire and see if it burns... and then we can go forward. Very decent solution, but it is not a fix all... of course, GE has to say that it is the best solution... My recommendation is to design a complete system using all the best solutions available from at least 5+ major manufacturers... None of them will give you the ultimate solution, regardless what anyone says.. Rather, pick up the best what they are known for and have a rich mixture of different components that will give you better results. As they say... "never put all your eggs in the single basket".

Awesome and Strong CCTV Housings
CCTV_Suppliers replied to cctv_down_under's topic in Security Cameras
Yup, the mighty dollar, well, is not a solid currency anymore... Unfortunately, it will be getting worse... and combined with all our housing and energy problems, we are at least few years before it can rebound... and then we can start buying from other countries.. Shipping costs to and from Australia is out of this world... Not sure why Australia is charging "special" customs fees for most products we ship to our customers there, but it really makes it impossible to buy anything from Australia. -
Sorry bud... I thought it was a question as I understood it... Please PM me... I can get plenty of them for you..

TRIDENT-TECK IP solutions
CCTV_Suppliers posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Has anyone used this software and hardware solution from http://www.tridenttek.com/?? I have been studying their solutions for a while and have not had a chance to play with any of their offering yet... Few days ago they got bought out by Tyco Security... and with apparently good reasons. Curious if anyone used it and if so, what do you think?? Any comments will be greatly appreciated... -
Passive or Active? On passive side, I will strongly recommend baluns from videobaluns.com... very good product and comes with built in surge protector (unlike many who charge extra for them).. The pricing should be around $30.00 per pair (nobody buys them in singles anymore) and that gives you $15.00 per balun cost.. Another interesting feature for these baluns is that we extended them as far as 1,500' stretch and with no loss of the video signal... You will notice picture quality reduction over such a length. On the active side, well, NVT is fairly good but expensive, and few others.. We use active baluns from American Fibertek and they are more cost effective and yet perform as good as NVT if not better.

LCD Monitors with Analog Matrix Switcher
CCTV_Suppliers replied to Krumpit's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Krumpit, this was a problem few years ago.. as the LCD technology was evolving into CCTV industry... Allegiant system, regardless which one, uses BNC outs, so your LCD must contain this type of port... I can vouch for the major manufacturers listings of such LCD that they all work, including the ones that is avail from Bosch... Few years back there was a major push from Off Brand manufacturers into this industry and we had an opportunity to test quite of few of them... None, except AGNPRO passed any of the tests and they all came with major problems... and god forbid if they failed, that yet introduced another problem, as most of them were fly by night operations... Instead, staying with the major manufacturers and giving them the chance to "fix" this issue that you mention solved it once and for all... and there should be no issues to use such LCD monitors from them... The LCDs from AGNPRO actually performs as good as the majors... and yet comes with better warranty and support... If you need additional info, please PM or post.. I am sure others will jump in and give you more info as well.. -
Quite of few options are available, if I may add... I think you need what is called Embedded systems. These type of system has taken DVR market with a storm, as they are very easy to operate, basically no maintenance, OS resides on flash card rather than on hard drives, purpose of the hard drives is to store video, easily upgradeable to higher capacity storage, no worries to keep up with conventional OS requirements of updates or upgrades and many more. Going Embedded systems have their pros and cons. But for the price and budget, they provide the most cost effective and yet, great performers. They do not come with all the bells and the whistles that most higher end PC based systems do, but they hold up very well across their performance, warranty and support. There are quite of few manufacturers make these type of systems, but I can refer you to only majors, who will stand behind their products with much needed warranty and support. American Dynamics EDVR Series - starts with an average of $1,000 and goes up from there... The warranty is 3 years. Mitsubishi series of DVRs - start from around $3,000 and goes up from there... The warranty is 5 years. CBC series of DVRs - start from $1,000 and goes up from there. The warranty is 3 years. Sanyo series - start from an average of $1,500 and goes up from there... The warranty is 3 years. Similar packages are available from GE Security and Panasonic at much higher prices... At the end, regardless which model you will choose, you will be best assured that the product works, backed by a major manufacturer and the warranty that will give you piece of mind... The support is yet another major advantage.. It is avail directly with manufacturers or online.. If you have any preference on brand, please let me know... or PM me and I can give you pricing for each model...

Dealing with bright and dark areas (at the same time)
CCTV_Suppliers replied to chewingyu's topic in Security Cameras
The only solution available that worked for us is Panasonic WV-CP484 with a good lens... and for the price, you get the best performer for your application. I am sure similar results could be achieved using higher end cameras and with more cost, but this model above gives you balanced performance and it works! -
There are quite of few to choose from... First off, will these cameras be placed right at the docks or will they reside inside of the warehouse? This will determine set of MiniDome cameras that can do the job... Will the loading and unloading be taking place both day and night time? How are the lighting conditions in both cases (day and nigh)? Will you be watching inside of the trailers or just what gets loaded or unloaded at the opening level? Some of the answers to the above questions can provide some solid solution...

Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II
CCTV_Suppliers replied to ray306's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Ray, with this new info, the problem IS NOT the power supply.. The previous post you had was that you used one 80GB (original) and one 320GB and it worked fine... Please change the PATA ribbon cable and try it again.. Do you have a 500GB drive that you can use or better yet, 750GB? If you could read one 80GB and one 320GB, you should be able to read higher capacity without changing the power supply. Remember, if you change the 80GB drive, besides a video that it will store, it also have very important files that your system needs for burning CDs... -
I can not answer this question... All I know that they had issues with them and that the current offering is ROHS compliant... I wish we had a leverage on telling American Dynamics what to do, but...

Faster performing DVR with faster hard drives
CCTV_Suppliers posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Has anyone run any tests to determine that usage of faster hard drives, lets say 10,000 RPM vs. 7,200 RPM hard drives busts the performance of DVR systems? Knowing the fact that majority of the DVR systems performance are hard drive dependent (excluding embedded systems), I am curious if anyone was able to see significant boost in performance by taking hard drives speeds from 5,400 RPM to 10,000 RPM or even higher, 15,000 RPM and if so, how was the performance? I am in process of getting some hardware for this purpose only... latest SATA 10,000 RPM drives and even SCSI 15,000 RPM and see if there is significant functionality increase, if any, that will worth the dollars to offer such systems. There are no price consideration here for such hardware, rather trying to obtain one of the fastest machines that perform DVR functionality. Our tests revealed that going with dual core based processors does increase system performance, but I will not called it "significant" and it increase performance roughly 10%... Even increase of faster video cards with more on-board RAM made very slight change (less than 3%). Increase in RAM helped more, as long as you reduce the SWAP file size and it rated close to 12%. Recently we even tried quad core processor based solution and again, some increase of performance (less than 3%), but does not warrant the expense.. That is why I am focusing on speed of the hard drives... We are trying to come up with a hardware requirements that can increase most of the DVR performance at least 50% or preferably 100% faster than their original builds... Any test results that anyone can share? -
Faster performing DVR with faster hard drives
CCTV_Suppliers replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Rory, were you using Geovision for these tests? Since I am not familiar with this application, I want to find out how others respond on their respective DVR platforms. I am focusing on DVRs mainly from major manufacturers. Your typical Bosch, American Dynamics and others... excluding embedded based system, which does not really make much of any difference when increasing the speed of the hard drives... -
I do not follow your question, sorry... What do you mean by a'why do the instructions still advise pulling the camera/lens covers from the dome for outdoor housing installation"?

Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II
CCTV_Suppliers replied to ray306's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Ray, please read all the posts and the ideas that everyone is contributing carefully... You missed the fact that the master hard drive also contains special files that must be there before the system can function propertly. Since adding 320GB worked, now please add 500GB PATA drive or better yet, 750GB PATA drive... Again, I do not think the problem is with your power supply, yet...
