Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II

I have not had a chance to confirm if 6.29 is the latest, but your version is fairly new... Can you please try what blowrabbit is recommending please? Instead of spending more money to get a power supply, I suggest taking step by step tests to add various size hard drives and see the results..

    Extreme CCTV EX-10

If ExtremeCCTV has the product in stock, it will go out in the same day... but to wait for 30 days, someone is not giving you the facts straight. In some rare cases, where they need to manufacture and test Explosion Proof systems containing the housing, the camera, all the internal guts, we have seen shipment, including the manufacturing time line) in less than 3 weeks. But on all their normal equipment, it ships in a less than a week time frame. And yes, everything gets shipped from their main branch located in Canada. They have excellent technical and product support..

    Consumer DVR use with multiplexer?

Seems like this post is going in circles... csoundso, which RCA consumer DVR did you buy for this application? What are its capabilities and better yet, what is its main use? Is it for security surveillance or for recording TV shows?

Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II

Ray, I will get you the info... no problems... but I am not convinced yet that your power supply is the problem... Can you please reply on some of the questions that were posted earlier? Like the version number of this machine's firmware, etc?? If the machine works well with 80GB drive, did you try to add the second drive with the same or higher capacity to see how this machine behaves? All the questions that were posted and the questions here need some sort of an answer... By saying that your power supply may be the cause has not been fully established yet, at least in my mind... We have systems with two 500GB drives that still use the same existing power supply without any problems.. Only reason we change the power supply is when we take it to two 750GB drives... or when we troubleshoot it being defective. Please give us some more answers and we can nail this once and for all...

    Looking: sensormatic, still cameras, misc

I checked on the stock for these type of domes... Looks like we have none left... except some supply for replacing Pan and Tilt motors and separate motors for Zoom... Someone from a very large retail chain picked up everything we had.. sorry! Also, do you know if your Speed Dome 2000 is the Ultra version 1, 2 or 3...? I know either we have or can still get slip rings for these models...

Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II

Yes and No If someone is handy with this DVR and knows his/her way around it, then IT IS NOT... Otherwise, YES... For GE, everything is training before they sell you anything... and for a good reason... Most of the dealers or even users do not have their sufficient knowledge on "fixing" or "modifying" computer based hardware... These type of power supplies are not popular, thus it will cost more than usual pricing of regular power supplies... Manufacturers of such power supplies know this very well and they can dictate higher pricing based on what they produce - from 150W to maximum 300W... Pricing varies of course on the wattage and who the manufacturer is... and then the availability... I guess they fully understand the basics of economical trends - Supply vs. Demand... GE knowingly can charge whatever they please for such power supply kits... and they do all the time.. My suggestion is that if someone does not want to get their hands "dirty" on working with machines like these, they should keep away..

Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II

Rory, that is why I recommend to change the power supply with higher wattage, so it not only will comply with higher RPM, but also higher capacity drives... We have quite of few of them with two 750GB PATA drives in each DVR... At the begining it was difficult to get 250W... and that was the main reason was to stay with single drives.. Later, we did find few sources that were manufacturing 300W of power supplies.. and they worked great.

Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II

GE has to tell you that they do not support adding larger drives... Otherwise, everyone will buy their lowest drive configuration systems and do their own upgrades... One of the reasons could be that you hard drive master and slave setting are not set correctly (in the back of the hard drives, you can set it as a master or slave)... This could cause non-recognition of drives, thus could cause the system to reboot and act abnormal... Chances also are that your system's firmware is not up to date.. When did you purchase this unit? Which version firmware did it come back with? You have to know that the older version firmware did not support higher capacity drives... thus, it forced constant reboots if you changed the drives more than 160GB... Off hand, I do not remember the process how to upgrade the firmware, but it was very easy (we followed GE instructions on how to perform firmware upgrades)... What is also happening is that when you do upgrade the hard drives, you also have to install another piece of software on the primary hard drive that has everything to do with CD burn process... You see, the format of the hard drive it needs is FAT format and if you do not install this software, then you will not be able to burn CD.. Here is something you can try... Keep the original 80GB drive that came back from GE (which should have the software that allows burning CD) and add the second higher capacity drive in the second bay (make sure that you assign master/slave setting correctly on both drives).. and see what happens.. If your firmware has been upgraded, then it should recognize it just fine and give you higher storage.. Find out what version is your firmware and what is the latest version available from GE.. Upgrade if necessary... Otherwise, look for hard drives master and slave setting to be correct.. Last important item to watch for... Higher storage capable drives draw more power... and if you are using older power supply that originally came with the system, I will strongly recommend to replace with higher wattage power supply... The power supplies in these systems are not types, however they are available and you can find ones that push around 300W and they should be more than adequate for these newer drives... Most likely your existing power supply is around 200W.. and you should consider to change it also and provide higher capacity power supply... I can tell you that we upgraded quite of few of these type of units up to 1.5TB internal storage... The sweet spot for our customers is 1TB.. and they still are going strong without any problems... Hope this helps...
  13. If you ordered it as video lens, that is what they will send you... and video lenses do not come with connectors... Also, the video lens does not work better than DC lens... it may stand true only on more expensive cameras, that have specific connections and calibration to take advantage of video lenses... and it is a real pain in the rear to really making good adjustments... vs. DC lens that works very well and works with less headaches... If you ordered it from CBC as DC lens and if they sent video lens.. well, that is possible too... even though it is very rare for CBC to make mistakes like this, but it has happened before with us... I take it that this was not part of your Pro packs... because if it is, they will change it very quickly... As for using this lens with this camera, your best bet is to call CBC direct to either of their West or East coast offices... they have excellent technical support that will help...

We probably have some quantity in stock still... I have to check on Monday... These domes were very easy to maintain.. the motors were simple to replace and the 2 piece CCD camera was easy to repair... How do I get hold of you for these domes? I sent you PM, but I am not sure if you received it or not? It probably something to do with number of your posts... Check with one of the moderators...
  15. Dan, good choice of camera... and I am very familiar with it... Your problem with the lens that you purchased is that it is a Video Lens compared to your other lenses that are DC lens.. The Video lens does not come with connector, rather connects to certain cameras with its three wires... None of the Video lenses ever come with connectors... it is the nature of this beast... What I will suggest is to go with DC lens and the model number for replacement to what you already have is TG3Z3510FCS-IR... It is the identical lens construction, but this model is the DC lens... Dan, if you need any help to find it, please PM me... and thanks.

Hard drive install on Storesafe pro II

What is your firmware version? I have Storesafe Pro II with 1TB and 1.5TB capacity by using two 500GB and 750GB PATA drives... Just check with GE to determine which is the latest version... Download the firmware and upload to Storesafe.. and you are ready to go... They use to have a link where we were able to download latest firmware version.. Either they moved it or I think now they want you to log in by creating an account... and hopefully it is there... Otherwise, call GE Security technical support and request the firmware to be sent to you with instructions how to upload to your machine... The rest should be fairly easy... because you can can turn that machine to carry up to 1.5TB internal storage... and it works! Good luck...

    IP and POS

I do not think IP cameras or analog cameras have anything to do with integration with POS systems... There are systems that will tie POS equipment with DVRs that use both IP and analog cameras... There is one that I am very familiar with called IntelleView software that works only with Intellex systems from American Dynamics... It integrates with Intellex platforms (all the versions) and then through appropriate parser, combines all the incoming transactions from POS equipment with Intellex Video and stores it whatever duration you want (typically 45 days covering credit card cycle)... Here are some of the specs: # Integrates IntelleView transaction monitoring and Intellex® DVMS into one box # Monitors Point-of-Sale and other data-oriented systems # Processes, analyzes, and saves transaction data with associated digital video # Offers 3 surveillance methods: 1. Record exception transactions only 2. Record all transactions 3. Record continuously, including between-transaction activity # Uses single-point interface to data network # Archives suspicious transactions with video to integrated Case Management module # Displays an intuitive, easy to use GUI # Features extensive datamining capabilities # Reports exception activity in real-time # Sends real-time e-mail alerts of exception activity # Provides off-site management and operation via Remote Client (over corporate network) # Color-codes exceptions by category for easy identification # Presents exception statistics in colorful graphics # Copies video/data clips to CD-RW or DVD-RW # Full (3) three years warranty on both Hardware & Software If interested, please let me know and PM me...

If you replaced the Slip Ring, then you also need to look at special motors that do fail as well... These motors are made by some German company and chances are good that we may still have some in stock... When we use to work on these type of domes, we were completely refurbished them by changing the Slip Ring and all the motors... Electronics usually were good except the camera, that required to have all SMT capacitors replaced... This way the same domes continued operating without any problems for years...

Great options bud... but we, the dealers or the distributors, can not compete with what you buy from ebay... If zboyblue wants, why don't you help him to find one of these GE systems... and they are great systems for sure... When zboyblue stated his budget, GE model that you are referring to could not fall into that price range.. unless of course you find it in ebay... If you are so confident of your purchase, why don't you make zboyblue an offer to sell this GE model?...

    GUYS PLEASE HELP..... SENSORMATIC SPEEDOME

With this newer information, my stakes has increased to 95% that your Slip-Ring is damaged (this is a unit that has quite of few wires tied together that send and receive data based on your commands)... Over time, they get damaged and the only solution is to replace it. I think we may have few of these Slip-Rings in stock or I am sure we can get them... You also can contact any other American Dynamics rep and I am sure their will help... American Dynamics will not put such info in their website.. never seen it before and I am sure it will not change anytime soon.. If you want, call their technical support... and I am sure that they will be focusing on the Slip-Ring and their recommendation will be to send it in for repairs... Dependent on your expertise on such repairs, you also can do it, as long as you have the Slip-Ring.
