We install quite of few of them... They all are very easy to install and to manage... All of them are Embedded systems, thus are not exposed to PC based or OS based systems inherent known problems... For the price range and performance, yes, these are my favorites.. There are other models that are more expensive and better performers, but we look at the application, the price ramifications and recommend the best solution available from our wagon of major manufacturers solutions... Sorry, I have no experience on either Speco nor EverFocus.. We only work with first tier product lines.. Chances are Speco and EverFocus could be good products... Just make sure that you do not settle for less than 3 years warranty regardless who says what... Also ask the members of this forum for their experience with both of these manufacturers... Since number of your posts are low, I am not sure how else I can contact you.. Please ask Rory or a different moderator on how to put you in touch with me or with anyone else in this forum... Sorry my friend.. forum rules.

GUYS PLEASE HELP..... SENSORMATIC SPEEDOME
CCTV_Suppliers replied to rdawg's topic in Security Cameras
Hey bud, you can try what UMDRanger recommends and it could work.. it may have gotten into a state of the incoming data that it does not know what to do... Are there other domes tied to the same J-Box that work and if so, that rules out the possibility that J-Box may be faulty (most of the time you can change the driver and the receivers on the J-Box and you are good to go)... However, I am almost positive that the problem is either the I/O board or the Slip-Ring... Out of both of the possibilities, I think the Slip-Ring stands 90% of the possibility that requires replacement. How old is the dome? If you bought this around 2000, chances are still good that you can get Slip-Ring part to replace... Normal live cycle on most parts from American Dynamics is around 8 years for parts - sometimes If you need additional help, please PM... -
Consumer DVR use with multiplexer?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to csoundso's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hey Rob, welcome... From your hardware point of view, you basically have 2 choices.. either continue using your Mux and replace your VCR with single channel DVR (many available from Sanyo, Bosch and few others), OR, replace the entire system with 16 channel DVR only (without using the Mux)... Obviously the cheaper option is a single channel DVR, which replaces your VCR... Sanyo's option starts a Single channel DVR (DSR-300) without hard drive and you add whatever size drive you need (up to 750GB PATA drive)... and here are some of its specs: * “Sanyo VCR Replacement†-
Hey bud, the order of my choices are the same as I described above... The live and the playback picture qualify on American Dynamics equipment is better.. even though its hard drive is maxed to 640GB at the factory... If necessary, all the DVRs that I recommended could have much higher drive capacities... I personally added hard drives up to 2TB in case of CBC equipment and up to 1.5 TB in case of American Dynamics EDVR model... As for the warranty, nothing changes.. as long as you keep the original drives, if anything else goes bad.. They are very simple to install, program and to manage. RickA, I know what you are referring to as for American Dynamics technical support... That was at least a year ago when the entire technical support was dismantled from Florida and moved to Canada, but they improved substantially lately... If you have any problems, let me know and I can put you in touch with the right technical support channel... We do not use them much.. but lately with their MegaPower 3200 matrix switch and with newer software to program the same matrix, we talked to them and their support was very good, coupled that they also brought their level 3 engineers... Their level of supporting customer has improved substantially.. All of these DVRs are available in the market... Just select the right channel to purchase and make sure that they do give you the support... and do not accept anything less than 3 years warranty on all of the models.. If you need any help, please PM... and good luck!

Last time I checked, it was an abbreviation for Passive Infrared devices (PIR devices).

Thanks bud... I will give it a try... and hope it works... When I am forced to pay $60.00 per month for my Internet connection, it pays to look at other alternatives.. Appreciate the info!

This is very interesting... Wireless Internet for free? What is Google's gain? How is the performance, what is the up and down speeds? What are the requirements? Is there distance ramifications from their closest antennas? Which geographical areas are they testing, if you know? I guess this topic did get my attention... I know that I can only get cable Internet in my area and no DSL service is available due to the distance of their closest distribution center.. I even tried satellite internet, but extremely slow... and later went back to the cable again. Any info will greatly be appreciated..

What's the smallest Outdoor PTZ on the market?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to Lou19's topic in Security Cameras
What is your outdoor application? When you are mentioning Sensormatic and Pelco protocols, then what is your head-in hardware? This reply has me completely lost, but here it goes - The outdoor application is to see things externally of the domicile with a camera that is ptz. I don't understand the term "head-in", except from being with a girl in High School and telling her that was the furthest I would go. Seriously, what difference does it make? Hey guy, if you are not serious about your questions nor want to understand the basics of the CCTV equipment, then I guess you are on your own... I do not appreciate your type of sarcasm and I am sure that nobody else in this forum neither, when all we are trying to do is to help you by investing our own time. Just remember that there are members here who are females that I am sure will not take your answer that favorably.. You should refrain yourself on what you write and how you respond to questions! I am sure my time will be better served on more important topics than to help you! -
Cameras dropping in and out at random
CCTV_Suppliers replied to Reighn328's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Is your supply AC or DC?? Does your camera take either or strictly DC? There is a fairly good chance that the cable lengths may be maxed out if you are using DC supply... by not having the choice because your camera may be a DC camera. -
What would you recommend for this budget?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to HTScotty's topic in Security Cameras
I am sure that there are many dealers and manufacturers that can answer this question better.. None of our major manufacturers have minidomes with built in LEDs to generate IR... sorry... -
Black and white (really low light) camera recommendation
CCTV_Suppliers replied to CSCOUT2001's topic in Security Cameras
I spent some time to check the specs of the camera... and with its lux rating, you can not get any decent picture in a dark areas... Your choice of the Computar lens is as good as it gets for the price... Good luck... -
What would you recommend for this budget?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to HTScotty's topic in Security Cameras
Your best bet for this situation is to go with bullet camera with built in IR.. There are minindomes available from second and third tier manufacturers, but I never used them nor have any opinions... What comes in mind is a bullet cameras from CBC... the model number is BCH-IR39A and it is priced around $200.00. It comes with 3.0mm - 9.0mm AI lens, very well built, takes both 12VDC and 24VAC power input source, all weather outdoor packaging and comes with 3 years warranty. Considering the fact that the budget is $2,000 for this project, you can easily install this bullet camera indoor as well as outdoors. Even when you end up installing six of these units and combine with Sanyo 6 channel DVR, you are still ahead of the game... These cameras are very easy to install and calibrate... The Sanyo DVR is a plug and play.. it is embedded (not susceptible to any virus attacks not OS base update requirements) and uses MS IE for remote viewing unlike many that use proprietary remote view software.. Hope this helps. -
Black and white (really low light) camera recommendation
CCTV_Suppliers replied to CSCOUT2001's topic in Security Cameras
Your choice of Ganz is an excellent camera and priced very low (being day/night and good performer). What is important is the type of lens that you used.. Can you please let us know which lens you used with this camera? Hi res B&W cameras could do the trick... I have seen few recommend Panasonic solution, some talking abut ExView, some talking about 1/2" B&W cameras, etc... Rory has a good recommendation about IR based solution, but I am not familiar with the camera not can make any comments. For the price, you have quite of few choices... My personal recommendation is CBC BCH-IR39A bullet camera that is an excellent performer... We used this camera in the bars with various lighting or no lighting conditions and were able to provide good performance - for the price! Here are some of the specs: * Bullet Camera with Outdoor IR Camera w/3-9mm A/I lens, 480 TVL, 12 LEDs, 12VDC/24VAC * 480 TVL color model * All weather outdoor performance * 12 IR LEDS provide up to 50' illumination range * Light activated photocell turns on IR lights at night * 3-9mm auto iris lens * Universal swivel bracket (top or bottom mount) * 3' cable with power and BNC connectors included * Service monitor connector This above model pricing does fall into the price range that you mention and comes with your standard 3 years warranty... -

Question for you... During the day, picture quality is not a question.. For night picture and with some ambient light from the3 security lights outside, do you want to have a sharp picture? If the answer is yes, then there are few options - either go with high end minidome that has exceptional B&W specs (with color show during the day) or go with bullet camera with IR LEDs... The only gotcha with bullet type of cameras is that they are vandal resistant, thus kids could damage them... Do they shut down all the lights during the night on the hallways, etc.? Answers to the above questions will help to focus on few cameras that will deliver the performance necessary... -

Which Ganz camera did you use? I read all the posts in this subject and the pricing that everyone are referring to varies between $200 to over $1,000... What is the budget that you have in mind? There are many choices from brand manufacturers.. which one will fit the bill has everything to do with the price range that you are looking for. Let us know what is your budget.. and I am sure the answers will be a lot more focused, rather than covering huge price range that do not answer your question... -
What would you recommend for this budget?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to HTScotty's topic in Security Cameras
Scotty, you budget is realistic... and what you are trying to accomplish is very much doable with major brand name products.. First - DVR... If your customer wants to eventually go to 6 cameras, why not give him 6 channel DVR to start.. None of the posts for this topic mention anything about the storage capacity... so that is a first question to be asked... How much drive capacity will you need and for how many days of recording your customer needs? My recommendation will be to go with Sanyo 6 channel DVR that starts with 80GB drive and it is upgradeable up to 1,000GB (1TB) internal storage. Here is the product code: DSR-3506H80 Your DVR pricing for the above configuration will start with $600.00... Now, as for the cameras.. If I read your commends correctly, your customer needs dome cameras... Can you please clarify how many indoor and outdoor cameras will they eventually need? Where will these cameras be pointing to? Will they be a lot of light changes, etc? For indoors, there are fairly decent cameras with WDR and vandal resistant (I read that this is a middle school?) that can give you excellent picture quality, yet are still cost effective. As for outdoors, most likely you will need vandal and weather resistant package... If you can come back with some more answers, I can recommend the cameras that combined could fall into the price range that your customer needs... Let us know... -
HOW NVR Physically Look like
CCTV_Suppliers replied to adindas's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Here is a simplest way I can explain what NVR really is... It is a basic computer and nothing more... including your basic computer components... and has NVR software that allows recognition of IP cameras via Ethernet port, or switch and storing video content to local (or remote) hard drive storage... You can install your IP cameras anywhere within a facility (or outside of the facility), connected to the closest switch or hub and then communicate with them using your NVR software... Each IP camera within the network could be considered as another computer in the network.. so you will need basic network configuration skills to operate for such setup.. Hope this helps. -
Dave, do you see any video or do you have any control at all on the front buttons?? Most likely candidates are either the power supply that went bad or the embedded capture card.. Replacement of the power supply should be relatively simple.. however, if it is the embedded capture card, well, you are out of luck... GE will not sell you part for this unit..

Door strike relay has nothing to do with video recording upon opening of the door... First of all, you can use a simple contact switch to activate recording of any DVR... OR better yet, set the DVR to motion only recording, so as soon as it senses motion, will start recording. I will suggest motion only recording. Second, if your setup also has access control with electric strike, then leave that setup alone... and do not have to tie it to DVR... unless if you can integrate the access control software with DVR software..

Sensormatic protocol for DVR
CCTV_Suppliers replied to gonzo's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Besides UltraDomes protocols, which other ones do you have working? If you already have Pelco D protocol, then you are styling, because you can program American Dynamics UltraDomes to operate with Pelco D protocol by programming these domes via built in DIP switches. Hope this helps.
