Panos most favorite is not a military grade product. If it sits inside of explosion proof housing, it may be one of so many avail from others.. Bosch has a excellent solutions as well, few higher in cost and few are lowers.. Same goes with Sanyo and even GE..... Just because the picture quality is excellent and price higher than normal, does not qualify them "military grade".. Military grade hardware must withstand very harsh environments, dusts, explosions, bullets, dirt, rain and god knows everything that war bring... Can you have an explosion near by Panos' or any standard cameras and expect them to survive? Guys, the topic is "military grade" not what is the best performer and with best video quality under $500.00?

Here is some more to validate on what survtech is stating: Termination From the Termination Tab, select 75 Ω or Hi-Z for each camera. • Set the termination to 75 Ω if the loop-through is not being used. • Select the Hi-Z if the video signal is looped to another device. Gain Mode From the Gain Mode tab, adjust video signals that are too bright or dark: Choose Boost Gain to amplify the video signal. Reduce Gain: Decrease the video signal Normal: Default setting Boost Gain Length of twisted pair wire Low < 500 ft. (152 m) Medium < 1000 ft. (305 m) High < 1500 ft. (457 m) These are standard setting that you should look at at the time of setting your finals... and here is where you can get more info: http://americandynamics.net/support/Download/Tech_Docs/8200-0840-01.pdf -
Normally when someone asks "military grade cameras", I understand not only the camera requirement, but more importantly the packaing, which could be explosion proof or fire proof... ExtremeCCTV has packages as such... as well as few other manufacturers.. Pano does provide exceptional performance, but Pano also has their StarLight series which gives unbelievable performance.. then you have higher end CBC models (thermal imaging series), Bosch, GE and few others... Isn't military grade always mean a product that can withstand military environment with bullets and explosion flying all over and better yet, a technology that can pick up someone "nose" few miles away? If not, most of everyone has a high quality WDR cameras and they all perform, some better than others, but I am still waiting for the explanation from the originator of the question of his take when he states "military grade WDR camera).

The make and the model of your DVR will help... also how you interconnected them...

what is the format used in GE's DVMRe maxtor hard drives?
CCTV_Suppliers replied to blowrabbit's topic in Digital Video Recorders
GE DVMRe uses nucleus firmware... but regardless which one you use and if they reside on the hard drive or on flash cards, the better performance will exist on higer RPM drives... I you want to use 7200 RPM drives for your DVMRe, it will work great... The only time you should consider higher RPM not being supported factor is the power supply on the system... that may have to change to guarantee the necessary juice for your system and the had drives. -

Most of the CBC customer support and sales team is in Vegas attending ASIS show, so do not panic if they do not respond right away... They are very good returning calls and e-mail requests... Good luck. -
Most of the manufacturers carry WDR cameras nowadays... the question is what do you mean "military grade" cameras? Anything military grade cameras will cost substantial amount of money... Some of the very high end items are avail from many... ExtremeCCTV, Panasonic, CBC and few others...
-
Cool... I will check them out... I will be out to ASIS show next week... I am going to hold my breath, but I am told that there some newer cameras and more "advanced" DVRs that will be displaying... We will see...

I did some search in this forum and could not find articles about Sanyo's latest Pan Focus cameras and here it goes... They come in MiniDome format only and cover from indoor to outdoor configurations, different lens sizes, etc... The very interesting aspect what makes this brand MiniDome perform so well (Pan Focus mainly), is that regardless how you adjust the viewing angle, the picture is always in focus! Here are some specs: # Sanyo Vandal Proof MiniDome # No Focus Adjustments Required # Built-in X2.6 motorized zoom pan-focus lens, f=2.8-7.3mm (F=1.9-3.0) # 1/4â€

Looks like this product has been discountinued... and there is a replacement... Here is what I suggest you do... Call CBC America in their respective office in the East or the West (dependent where you are located) and ask for the PDF formated information... and they will comply... Here is the url on how to contact them: http://www.cbcamerica.com/contact.htm - call their CCTV Security Division. If you do not get any cooperation, please let us know... We will get the info for you. -
So, what was the verdict anyway? Did I miss anything at all Do you have the post on it? May be someone had an issues that we should all know about it..

When running your main cables through Intellex and then to your Matrix, make sure to assign each port as "Hi Z" through the "Setup" selecting "Cameras" .. Otherwise you will continue seeing exactly what you are expereinceing... The "Hi Z" setting allows to "balance" the video signal once you are looping out of the Intellex to connect the loopling inputs to Matrix system, other recorders, muxes, etc... This should fix your "extremely white washed" video picture... As for Pelco foul ups, well give them a call and do not be nice They only understand that language anyway... -
Curious what power supplies everyone use who may be building or repairing DVRs? With increased systems performance, more storage capacities, there is a serious need for more power, more efficiency of power supplies and ones that last you longer. How do you determine what wattage power supply do you need vs. what you actually require?

CCTV_Suppliers replied to griffonsystems's topic in Security Cameras
Pano equipment works excellent right out of box and yes, you can twick even more, as long as you know what is going on with such changes.. For the price, it is an excellent, yet expensive choice... We use them mostly in areas that no other cameras can perform (mainly outdoor and even in warehouse applications where there are many lighting change conditions)... and because of its costs, it is difficult to use it as a standard daily use camera. The Sanyo model that I am referring will perform well as long as you keep in mind that it is not Pano picture quality compatible camera. In areas that we see constant and low light and again in warehouse specifically, we use the Sanyo model (as well as some Bosch variance cameras)... However, if you do have a major lighting change problems, area of viewing has too dark and too much light side by side and lets say you want to trailer to pull in and then you want to see what happens inside of the trailer, Pano solution is the only one that worked for us for any cameras under $500.00 range... My suggestion is to give the Sanyo a trial... and you will see that it is an excellent performer.. -

CCTV_Suppliers replied to smpl_gy's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Seems fairly simple setup... I take it that you had the ultradomes programmed with DIP switches to adhere to Pelco coaxitron... and then take the video return to Intellex... Looks to me your bottleneck is the Pelco active receives and transmitters. I also take it that you called Pelco and hope that they are responding... I can not (our should not) make comments about Pelco... never liked them and never will... However, if you have to fix this issue, you have (2) choices... Get them replace and fix these reported problems (and they should immediately) OR - you can replace their active hubs, the receivers and drivers with a different makes and model and then later return the defective unit(s) back to Pelco.. What comes in mind right now are NVT and American Fibertek... Both can easily comply with this application... I personally will go with American Fibertek, as I like their tech support better and besides, the pricing is much lower... -

Warehouse environment - probably fairly dusty and with moisture... These pups will deliver one of the best quality video shots the money can buy... However, there are few other models avail from other manufacturers that could give you as good of a pictures and much less in cost... I do not understand when you state "low light florescent in a dard warehouse)... Obviously you want day/night solution.. with vandal resistant and weather proof packaging right? Because this is not an "extreme" condition, one of your choices can be a Sanyo solution as follows: Model #VDC-D1584VA and here is the description and some specs: Sanyo Day/Night 520 TVL Auto switch optical filter (Day - Night) Integrated 2.3X Verifocal Lens - 2.6 to 6mm Shock Resistant housing 12V DC/24 # Sanyo Outdoor Vandal Proof MiniDome with Shock Resistant housing # 520 TV Lines DAY/NIGHT of Horizontal Resolution # Integrated 2.5X Zoom 2.6-6.0mm Varifocal AI lens # Wide Dynamic Range performance # 24V AC and 12V DC, Dual Power Operation # Easy installation, easy adjustment and easy set-up # Vandal-resistant Dome & Weatherproof design (IP66) # Built-in Motion Detection and Privacy Masking Functions and it is few hundred bucks lower than Pano solution... -

CCTV_Suppliers replied to shawndang's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Not familiar with it... Do not like its ability to take "up to 500GB storage" based on the specs... Let me give you few options that are fairly cost effective, easy to use, some with and without CD burner, embedded and all will come between 3 years and up to 5 years warranty... 1. American Dynamics EDVR series - from 80G to 640G and with pricing between $1,300 to $2,000 - with 3 years warranty and this is an embedded system... CD burner standard. 2. Sanyo Cheetah series - from 80G to 600G and with pricing between $2,000 to $3,300 - with 3 years warranty and this is also an embedded system... CD burner is options, but does fall in the price range. 3. CBC DR-Series - You an purchase this DVR without hard drive or buy it pre-built with up to 750 from factory (we were able to install over 2TB internal storage buy using few 750GB drives). Pricing could range from $1,000 to $1,800 - with 3 years warranty and this is also an embedded system... and CD burner is options, but is covered between the price range... 4. Mitsubishi DX-TL4516U Series - from 250G to 1.6T and with pricing between $2,700 to $6,600. CD burner standard. It is embedded systems and comes with 5-Five years warranty. All these models are extremely easy to use and easy to manage. Some come with proprietary remote view software and some (Sanyo) use Microsoft IE as a form of remote view. The warranty speaks by itself. Dependent what you are willing to spend, anyone of these models could do the trick. I can tell you that the CBC version is very hot, as it also comes with remote control unit, that allows you to run all its functions with it. Hope this helps... The above items are available everywhere, so you can shop and find the best deal possible... Regardless who sells it, the warranty is a manufacturer warranty, so if the seller does not give you the support, I am sure the manufacturer will.. Good luck! -

shawndang, I did not ask for your "dream" system Once you cross 120FPS, all of our embedded systems will comply everything you ask, except 480FPS parameter... May be Rory and other members can put together for you a Geovision solution that I am sure will comply with FPS characteristics... and the rest of the requirements.. I am not familiar with Geo or other basic, yet very functional solutions... Rather, solution that we have come from major manufacturers only... i.e. Panasonic, Sanyo, Bosch, American Dynamics, GE Security, Mitsubishi to name of few.. Pricing from the above manufactures will be higher than what other members can put together using more conventional Geo or similar solution. Example, all your parameters, including 480FPS box from major manufacturers could give you following estimates: 1. American Dynamics solution (their Ultra series) between $7.5K to under $10K and it will meet all your needs.. 2. Mitsubishi solution (their 5,000 series), between $5.7K to $7.5K and this model will meet all your needs.. And the rest fall little higher or lower on the above samples of pricing. If you stay with 120FPS total recording arena, then the pricing will be substantially lower and still give you all the other features that you want. Rory, any recommendation from Geo or any other models that will comply with shawndang's requirements? -

I am not going defend what GE chooses to show on their website... However, I will tell you from the results in the actual installs were extremely good... Actually it provided us the best picture quality that we have seen in the longest time... Of course, we are comparing their video with other major manufacturers video... Chances are good that other manufacturers could match or beat this, but for majors to have something to complete with is what GE has done so far.. -

Here is a url that shows D1 recording... Using GE SymDec DVR http://www.gesecurity.com/GESecurity/images/flashfiles/index.html Make sure to "Skip the Intro"... Not as expensive as most "high end" DVRs, but definite performer in my book.. Video quality is as close to DVD video quality as possible and yet, very easy to use... It is EMBEDDED, simple to program and user friendly. -

I am not familiar about Clover box, so I can not explain why it resets or why these problems occur.. Looks like it is embedded system... at the moment I can not figure out the operating system it uses nor the compression that this box comes with - with little more research, I am sure we will have it.... and here are the specs... # Triplex (playback/ record/ live view simultaneously) in multi-screen mode # Built-in PTZ control # Remote controlling and monitoring via TCP/IP # System control by PS/2 mouse or keys # Zoom 32x linear digital # Jog/shuttle ring # Compatible with VGA monitor or TV/composite monitor # TV system: NTSC 60 fields/sec., PAL 50 fields/sec. # Resolution: NTSC 720 x 240/360 x 240, PAL 720 x 288/ 360 x 288 # Video inputs: 16 BNC, 1.0Vp-p composite 75 ohms # Video outputs: 16 looping (BNC), 1.0Vp-p composite 75 ohms, 1 VGA, 1 main monitor, 1 slave monitor, 1 S-VHS # Real time display: 480 frames/sec. # Recording frame rate: 120 frames/sec., programmable 1 to 120 frames/sec. # Algorithm: Wavelet # Compression rate: 4:1 to 250:1 # Recording: Schedule, manual, event recording by motion detection and alarm sensor # Hard disk drive: Up to 1 TB (4 bays), built-in 160GB # Replay: Forward, backward (fast, normal, stop, pause) # Back up: USB driver, Ethernet, removable HDD # Alarm in: 16 inputs # Alarm output: 4 relay outputs (4A max) # Network: Ethernet 10/100M # RS485: Pan/tilt, remote control First, lets understand where the problem may be for your current system. The "recording frame rate" is rated at 120FPS and it gives you several "Recording" modes... Default setting for "Recording" modes normally should be "event recording by motion detection" in order to conserve hard drive space... chances are this is not set correctly... Your recording frame rate being 120FPS should give you maximum of 7.5FPS available per port if all the ports are recording... which is higher than it needs to be, but it all depends on the recording mode. You can always reduce to less than 4FPS with higher resolution... The only way that you will get 3 days of recording with these above specs is if you record always (which is the manual setting) and at 7.5FPS rate or higher (manual setting allows you select frames per second setting per channel, so you can record certain cameras higher frames per second and lower for others).. OR - Sams Club offers this system starting with 160G... Did you add the hard drives yourself or bought it already with (2) 500GB drives? There may be a setting issues dependent on your answer... My suggestion is the embedded systems provide basic essentials for what you need, including single channel audio record... Before any recommendations are made, what are your expectations? What do you want your DVR to do, if known? I do not want to loose you with technical jargons and I rather try to understand in basic terms that you can describe what your needs are... Let us know and I am sure other members will also jump in to help..
